Just love this vehicle, added a wood grain kit in the interior to take your eye off the plastic, looks great. Very responsive 4.0 litre engine, not bad on gas for a V6.

Great Truck - get rid of the rattles

I use my truck everyday to haul all types of things (family of 5, 1 dog, all travel accessories to keep them occupied), pulls trailers well, handles well in bad weather conditions, enjoy the ride height (higher than normal for 2WD truck models)

My '06 is now 2yrs old w/ 33,000 miles on it and it still feels great to drive every day. The power is very good, drives like a sports car and feels solid. Try one out if you are thinking about a midsize truck. The interior design is nice with everything laid out really well. I always still look at it while walking way from it after two years.

I have 29,500 miles on my Nismo Crew 4x2. White with Charcoal interior, tow package, audio upgrade (rockford fosgate 6 disc cd/sub-woofer), power sun-roof, bed-divider/extender. This truck handles well and looks great! I get compliments all the time on this truck. A lot of power. I upgraded the exhaust with a magna-flow exhaust with steel tip pipe adding a nice little growl and about 10 more horses. Plan on adding the air-raid air system/filter for more HP and increased fuel economy. This truck is a KEEPER!!

Best Truck I've Ever Owned

I just replaced the front brake pads - at 50,171 miles. Rear pads still have 85% of meat on 'em. Only thing replaced under warranty was an air bag sensor; other than that, it looks and drives like it just left the showroom. I will keep this truck until it has at least 200000 miles on it, because I think it will still rock even then.

Bought my 2006 Nissan Frontier LE Crew Cab in Sep 2006 new from the dealership. As soon as I test drove it, I bought it. I love the look of the roof rack (looks like the Xtera) The utilitrack bed system is awesome! I have hauled so much stuff in this truck. I added a Flow Master 40, and an AFE Cold Air Intake. Wow! What a difference. Much better sound, better power. MPG city went to about 18, hwy went to around 24. The only thing I don't like is the legroom. I'm tall, so it's difficult to find anything that has decent legroom. The adjustable seats are great, and very comfortable. Unless you are a general contractor or living on a farm, there is no need for a truck any bigger than this.

Solid mid sized truck. A few niggling could improve it but they are not substantial issues to ownership. Headlights are poor and road noise could be dampened more.

Bought this after doing tons of research. Couldn't beat the value of what we got for our money. Would have preferred a Honda Ridgeline, but they just cost so much its silly. Drove lots of Toyota Tacomas, Ford Sport Tracs, and Frontiers. Nissan was the clear winner.

I bought this truck new and currently has 177,000 miles on it. It has been trouble free for the most part, except for two common problems - fuel level sending switch went out at 107,000 miles ($350 to replace at local shop) , and radiator developed internal leak at 130,000 miles ($800 to replace at local shop). Luckily, I detected the radiator leak early-on, before it ruined the transmission. I had the transmission fluid and filter replaced when new radiator installed and 47,000 miles later, no problems. Other significant maintenance I've had done include replacing lower ball joints at about 150,000 miles, one u-joint on front drive shaft at 155,000 (4WD), and one front wheel bearing at 167,000 miles. That's about it for things that have worn out. At 67,000 miles, I put new Michelin LTX tires on truck (still have 4/32's tread left) and at 130,000 miles, I went ahead and installed a new set of Bilstein 4600 shocks, even though original ones seemed to be ok. The Michelins and Bilsteins really improved how the truck handled and how it rode on the highway - amazing difference. I'm very happy with my truck - it is rock solid in the way it rides and handles, it is a comfortable highway cruiser, it is very easy to get in and out of (I'm 6' tall and don't bump my head getting into it like I do on my friend's Tacoma), it's been reasonably reliable , and at 65 MPH, I get about 23 MPG.

A hidden gem

I would probably not have purchased a Nissan Frontier if Toyota hadn't taken my '99 Tacoma for having frame perforations (less than 75k miles on it in 2008)- the rusty frame issue common in New England. Toyota gave me little incentive to purchase another Tacoma, so I found a used 2006 Frontier King cab SE. First thing I noticed was it was a much smoother ride than the Tacoma. Also, the cab felt roomier and if you look at the passenger volume between the two, the Frontier is indeed bigger. It is still running, although in the last couple of years I've had suspension repairs to deal with. Overall, I've been very happy with the Nissan Frontier. With the recent fuel pump recalls, peeling paint if you bought a white truck, and some other front differential problems with the Tacoma, I'd say that Toyota reliability is a myth and I'll stick with the Nissan Frontier. Since I have the 4.0 L engine with a 5 speed transmission, I can't compare the newer versions with the new "safety features" (nanny cars- if you can't drive without something beeping at you to drive differently, hop in the backseat and get someone else who CAN drive to get you around). I still get about 17 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on the highway. My car is 15 years old.

Pretender

The Nissan Frontier does not deserve to be rated near the top of this class. I wish I would have gone with a Toyota or even the Chevy. The build quality on the Nissan is average at best and the engine is very sluggish for supposedly having over 260hp. The gas mileage is poor for a compact pickup, I used to get better from my full size. This truck doesn't come close to measuring up to a Toyota in any way, and I would even rate the Chevy a better truck for the money. I would not recommend this truck to anyone.

Bought new 10 yrs ago, been a reliable an well built truck. I sold this truck and bought another Frontier. This new one is even better! I have had the 2016 Pro 4X Frontier almost a year. It has had no problems at all. I am very glad I bought another Frontier. If I were trading today, the Pro 4X would once again bemu choice. Great performance, looks good, excellent build quality. Still a great truck! I still have the 2016 Pro 4X. This is a great truck, exceeds all expectations. My update would simply emphasize that both Frontiers have been great vehicles. My only wish is that Nissan would offer a V8 option in these trucks. I do wish Nissan would offer a small block V8 as an option. It would be on my shopping list.

I traded in a 2004 Honda Crv ex. I am 18 and this is my first truck. It is a fun, well appointed vehicle. I actually like some of the plastic in the cabin because of its tuff truck feel. The engine is a marvel to hit with your foot. It gives me chills and goosebumps thinking about it. It's been there and for having it only two days and driving it already almost 200 miles getting a great 17 city, I'm thrilled.

I had a fuel gauge issue on my truck repaired by me mechanic using Nissan parts I received a recall letter a week later. In order to reimburse the bill Nissan insisted on reworking the recall issue, The rework has been done three times and is still not correct. I have been on the phone with Nissan service and consumer affairs they never call back and have do not check or follow up on their work.

After owning this truck for a couple of days we knew we made a mistake. This truck gave a horrible ride on the back roads. It actually made us sick. Gas mileage was horrible. Also, we couldn't wait to get rid of it so after 2 mos. We traded it in for a Dodge. They gave us a good deal thank god we have also heard these trucks are costly for repairs, a lot of people we know who had Nissan frontiers didn't keep them very long for this reason, if you buy make sure to get a 3 day money back guarantee, I will say we got all our money back and plus on trade. Good luck.

Tacoma or NISMO Frontier....

On 12/31/05 I bought my my Storm Gray NISMO CC, and brought her home. Little things like the oil filter access plate integrated into the skid plate, thickness of plastic in the wheel wells, strength of the utili-track channels/tie-down cleats, engine response, utility, seating position, reliability, and past service (2002 Xterra SC)sealed the deal. Mine came with the Rockford Fosgate package and sunroof. I also have the bed extender, bed divider, and locking rear axle. This truck is incredible. Only complaint is the roof rack, too much noise when the sunroof is open. I tried to put a wind deflector on but it didn't fit with the roof rack. Other than that, couldn't be happier!

We went to the dealership to look at a used 2003 Frontier and liked what we saw. We test drove it and even though it rode good, the ride was a bit stiff it handled like a TRUCK and the rear passenger leg room was a bit skimpy. We then took a 2006 for a test drive and what a difference. It handles like a dream, feels like your sitting in an EZ chair and has great room in the cab for for both front and rear passengers. Needless to say the 2006 now sits in my driveway and I can't wait to get it into the desert.
