I have owned my 2010 Nissan Altima for the past year. Has 167k on it, and it runs really well. Drive it 1,000 miles to college and back. Mine has the Bose/SiriusXM package, a backup camera, integrated phone, sunroof, dual climate control which is crazy for being 11 years old on a economy car. The car is fantastic on gas. On a full tank, it gets around 350 to 400 miles. Yes the CVT transmissions can be worrisome at first, and they are not the fastest at acceleration, but they do save a ton of money at the pumps. The CVT’s are loud when they hover around 1000-2500 rpm. The only issues I have with this car is the front suspension can make it a little rougher ride while going over bumps and that it could be a little quieter. I think the newer ones have been more refined. But all in all, this is probably the nicest car I could’ve asked for with all the “new car” amenities for being 11 years old. I was told that this car can last to 200 or to 250,000 miles, just gotta take care of it. So if you find one for sale, take it for a test drive, it might be worth it. Update!!! Car now has over 180k and still drives 1,000 miles across the country to school with ease. Still getting fantastic gas mileage for its age. Muffler is rusted out on the flex pipe so it runs a little loud. No major issues, this car has gotten me safely to and from college and hope to keep a few more years. Since cars are extremely expensive, the Altima has stayed relatively cheap to purchase if you are looking for a car.

Within the past two weeks, there have been 10-12 times that it was difficult to start. I am being told that the dealership cannot find a problem.

When I was 16 I was forced to buy the ugliest car there ever could be. A 1997 Nissan Sentra which turned out to be the best car on Earth. Owning this car made my dream car a Nissan Altima. I figured if the Sentra was that good the Altima had to be even better. In 2012 I bought a 2010 Nissan Altima S. Over all it has been an "ok" car. I expected more, I guess. If you like the smell of rotten eggs and Nissan telling you that it is a "normal" smell when you accelerate; it is the way it cleans itself out, then this is the car for you! I feel that a car this new, and costs this much wouldn't smell everytime you accelerate to pass someone.

Altima Coupe, a good choice

The ride is very quiet and comfortable but I'm still getting used to the CVT transmission. I previously owned a 4 cyl. Honda Accord (manual transmission) which had more low end power. Vision is somewhat compromised by the coupe's design. Mirror adjustment is thus important.

I bought this car used seven years ago with 60 K, and now it has 205 K. It has been one of the most trouble free cars I’ve ever owned. The only issue was The exhaust manifold cracked twice, it was a factory defect which Nissan replaced for free. Most of my miles were highway, which is much easier on the car than city miles in my opinion. I keep up on maintenance and fluid changes which Definitely helps the longevity of any car. I’ve had to replace some items but nothing outside of normal wear parts like struts and wheel bearings. I’d like to get to 250 K before retiring my Altima. 12/1/2021 update: had to replace the valve cover but otherwise still running great.
