Can't say enough about this vehicle. I'm 6'2 and with the front seat comfortably adjusted for me, I can still fit the back, pus the rear seats recline a bit for a more comfortable sitting position. The 2000 lb towing capacity is nice, I've hauled an open trailer filled with mulch (maybe 800 lb?) and it performed flawless, felt pretty stable throughout the trip- the owners manual does recommend using premium fuel when towing. I did so, and the throttle response seemed better, as well as more power from the engine when accelerating and cruising. The engine is punchy and responsive on regular 87 when not towing and the S-AWC system works tremendously well on dirt and snow covered roads. My fuel mileage has far exceeded what the EPA says I should be getting. Most recent long highway trip netted me 34 mpg from pump-to-pump, hand calculated. The dash indicator showed me getting 34.5, so a little optimistic but not by much. If I had any complaints they'd be these- 1) Factory tires are pretty mediocre, new Continentals made a world of a difference 2) The gloss black plastic inside the cabin scratches if you look at it wrong. Had the exact same thing happen in Lincoln MKZ and Honda Accord, so not unexpected, just annoying. 3) The factory MPG ratings almost turned me away from test driving this vehicle. I don't know what the EPA was thinking when they rated it. Expect 25-27 city, low-to-mid 30's highway. Highly suggest at least test driving it, I really wasn't expecting much and really got blown away with how it performed. So far, I continue to be impressed. Definitely a contender against the RAV4 and the CR-V, which we cross shopped. UPDATE: 15/03/2023 Still performing flawlessly. We've found it does run out of breath a bit on the top end at high highway speeds but for us that's only on long trips and using premium seems to both alleviate it a bit and net better mpg. Otherwise regular 87 is fine for around town. We had the opportunity to tow a friend's powerboat out of a lake on a gravel boat launch last fall and despite weighing near the 2000 lb towing limit of the vehicle, it performed the duty with ease-we did have the 4WD system in gravel mode and it did help compared to leaving it in normal. I'm much more confident now in the event we get our own boat in the future. Our average mpg at the moment is 27.8, which after this past winter with all the snow and cold seems fine. Was still able to get 30 mpg on the highway, but am looking forward to getting up to near mid 30's as weather warms and improves. Still can't recommend this vehicle enough and look forward to it lasting us into the future.

2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL 4dr SUV (1.5L 4cyl Turbo CVT)

I purchased a 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL FWD with the touring package and absolutely love this vehicle! Mitsubishi has modified their target audience and now seems to focus on making smoother, more comfortable vehicles, with fantastic visibility and maneuverability. This vehicle has adaptive cruise control, multi-view camera system, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, front collision mitigation, heated side mirrors, auto-dimming rear view mirror, very comfortable and good-looking heated leather seats, great visibility, great maneuverability, great turning radius, is fun to drive, has decent cargo space, good legroom and headroom, 2 skylights (1 opens, 1 stationary), satellite radio, hd radio, bluetooth connectivity for phones and music players, apple car play & android auto, tastefully tinted back seat windows, rear windows and skylights, and a smooth, comfortable, quiet ride. The Eclipse Cross looks fantastic on the outside and is nice and clean on the inside. The LED headlights are VERY good. The eclipse also has LED fog lights, a feature that several competing manufacturers no longer offer. Acceleration is much better than the critics lead one to believe. While definitely not a racing vehicle, and definitely not as quick as a long gone 4th generation eclipse coupe that went from 0-60 in 5.8 seconds, neither are most normal vehicles out on the road. I have a 4th generation eclipse coupe with a 3.8 liter v6 engine so I do have that frame of reference. That said, the eclipse cross does does have some decent torque for merging onto the highway. The eclipse cross is a much nicer vehicle than critics would lead one to believe. I have not had the vehicle long enough to comment on gas mileage, but the car's computer displayed a 31 mpg estimate for a recent highway drive.

I love my new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL AWD. I purchased this vehicle five days ago. I love it. I’m not sure why some individuals are complaining. I think it’s a very reliable, and easy to maneuver a vehicle. I’m not sure why an individual is complaining on here about the technology and phone system. Nissan recently paired with Mitsubishi for their technology. So with that being said, the Technology that Mitsubishi currently has outranks Nissan. I’m very pleased with my new vehicle, and I look forward in the future to do business with Mitsubishi.

Love this car - Saved my wife's life

I bought the LE model in March and absolutely loved it. It was responsive, comfortable, and was constantly getting comments about how much people admired its appearance. As fate would have it, the one-time my wife was driving it, she was hit head on in a collision that ended up totaling my Eclipse Cross. While the impact was at about 45 mph, the seating compartment remained intact while the front end was totally destroyed. My wife walked away without a scratch. Because it protected the most valuable person in my life, I am purchasing another Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross LE. This will make 4 Mitsubishi's for me.

AC Issues

Karen, 07/01/2022
2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL 4dr SUV AWD (1.5L 4cyl Turbo CVT)
19 of 21 people found this review helpful

Leased a 2022 EC right after its release in March of 2021. AC worked fine during the four months of summer. After a long winter I did not use the ac again until the beginning of June and it did not work. It didn't occur to me to test my ac during the winter to see if it was working in order to fix it within the 12mo warranty. Due to working from home I had less than 6K miles on the vehicle. Dealership wanted to charge me $200 for a diagnostic test which I did not do. After much researching, there are numerous complaints about the same problem for this specific year and model. The reason it's significant is because after the release of this new model there was a low number of vehicles imported into this country and Mitsubishi has not done a recall. This is my sixth Mitsubishi and this issue seems to be the result of poor manufacturing.

I purchased a 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross 6 weeks ago. I drive anywhere between 45 to 55 minutes to work each way. Love the way it feels and handles the occasional Spring snow. I like the interior because it looks clean and symmetrical. The outside is a definite plus, it looks modern and the white diamond paint sometimes looks light gray in different lighting. I'm 100% satisfied!!

We love our new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SE. It is very comfortable and handles well. Mitsubishi packs a lot of features in these vehicles for the money. We highly recommend it to people thinking about buying a new car. The fit and finish is excellent. The warranty is the best in the business. If you are a DIY person, all the service points are very easily accessible. Take one for a test drive and you’ll be glad you went past the “other”Japanese or the Korean brands. The dealers will have all kinds of discounts so don’t be bothered by sticker prices. Test one out, you’ll be glad you did.

2023 Eclipse Cross SEL 1.5 Turbo S-AWD

I was looking for a mid sizes SUV, test drove Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4, Hyundai, Ford Escape and a few others. But saw this Eclipse Cross 2022 PHEV and almost liked it instantly. Then looked at 2022 new Eclipse Cross on the lot and almost purchased a 2022 SE till the sales person told me that there is a 2023 SEL trim on their lot that had just arrived. Immediately I fell in love with the color Lunar Grey color with the SEL Touring package. Test drive it and liked the drive, handling etc. Harris Mitsubishi in Everett were so professional in the delivery of the vehicle, explanation and the professionalism of the entire staff that I dealt with in making this happen. I think all other vehicles are over priced and with all the bells and whistles in this 2023 1.5 Turbo Charged Engine, it’s worth it and not to mention the 100K miles, 10 year warranty and more, I think this the best that is available. I strongly suggest people I search of a mid sized AWD SUV, to consider Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. Thank you.

obsessed. The bad reviews, people don’t know what they are talking about. I’m not a race car driver so I don’t need the car to handle like one when I’m driving my kid to practice and to Kroger. This is such a comfortable ride and looks absolutely stunning. I’m a fan of different vehicles and I don’t see many of these on the road. I actually chose to stay with Mitsubishi because of their safety and reliability. I previously had an outlander sport. The outlanders are gorgeous, I just don’t need that much space. The interior on the SEL is beautiful. Heated steering wheel, heated front and back seats. Most definitely luxury without premium luxury car price. I also love that AWC is now standard. Everyone in Ohio has the same cars and this stands out. Don’t sleep on Mitsubishi and do your homework. They are an extremely safe and reliable brand and they are making some beautiful products. In my opinion if you can upgrade to SEL it’s every bit worth it. The dual sunroof and moonroof is also such a great addition. Go see one in person and take it for a drive, you won’t be disappointed.

10 000km later UPDATE Power barely sufficient. Very quiet ride. Fuel consumption on highway not so bad (32,6 mi./gal with Ecomode on). Excellent traction system (S-AWD, best on the market with Subaru). Interior ok, not more. Very uncomfortable seats. To narrow with unajustable lumbar support. Handling so so and quickly oversteer (from a former Volkswagen driver...). Powerful fog lights. CVT transmission is...well, you dont want to know. As I said, it depends on what you are focusing on when buying a car. For my own part,I like the look and the S-AWD, one of the best on the market if not the best. Otherwise, overall comfort and power are much perfectible and unfortunately, I would not buy again...

I have a 22 EC I believe it’s an SE. regardless I’m not sure what’s up with the negative comments from Edmunds. Weird I’ve been driving since 91 and have had quite a few vehicles in my day. This is my favourite. The handling is actually quite good and if you actually know how ti use the gear paddles on the steering wheel you can get more punch out of the engine when needed. I’ve had zero body roll and the mileage is great for an SUV. It has a lot of tech that’s easy to use. Question: do we actually need all these things? No. We like them but they’re not essential. My two biggest issues is the lack of wireless charging and ventilated back seats. It’s not exactly a small car so I think that’s something that needs addressing. My third issue is the placement of the heater and air conditioning. It’s out if reach for the driver and distracting to use. If it were higher in the stack it would make much better sense. I’m not sure why there’s so much love Hyundai and Kona. Research the recalls on these cars. Countless warranty issues and engine fires galore. Mitsubishi has a much better warranty and they are built like tanks.

In under 1 year of ownership, the car started showing issues with the FCM radar. The dashboard keeps displaying that it is temporarily disabled. These types of issues should be already covered by the 10 year warranty, but the mechanic insists that the damage is external when in fact the bumper is intact. Either this car is poorly built or the company is not willing to honor the warranty.

I bought a 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross LE AWD and am beyond disappointed. Please beware of what you're buying!!! Pretty car but made of cheap materials - overall not worth it. Externally the car looks nice but inside it is extremely uncomfortable to drive in. The seats WILL hurt your back. I am three weeks into owning it and the plastic parts of the door handle are now coming off - service center is not even sure if it's covered under warranty. Car is good if you're looking for something to fill your driveway, but I honestly canNOT recommend this vehicle to anyone with kids OR looking for car rides longer than 20 mins. I am tall, wear size L and this car is not made for people my size. Overall very disappointed because I was excited to purchase this after reading all of the positive reviews, so please do your research and don't get scammed with this!

I'm giving this vehicle a 1 star due to the technology. The camera is mediocre at best. The phone system is less far advanced than my 2015 Nissan Rogue. I was never told that in order to use the steering wheel functions you have to plug your phone in? As for the soundsystem, very disappointing.. tin sounding and not as enjoyable as my Nissan. It does however ride nice, looks beautiful with all the cool extras of duel sunroof, spoiler and body. I'd think twice if you think that for a 2022 it be more advanced because it defiantly behind in technology advancement.

Experiencing shifting delays, jumping, or grinding during acceleration, feeling the car shake at any speed, noticing a burning smell or whistling sounds coming from under the hood, along with an underpowered air conditioner that constantly clicks on and off, suggests that it might fail soon. Additionally, the back seats are too small, and overall, this vehicle seems to be poorly designed.

This vehicle started every morning over the eight months I drove it and got me to where I wanted to go. otherwise there is precious little good to say about it. It has the acceleration of a peanut falling through honey and the rattling from the back was something to behold. i did like the low gas consumption but otherwise this cheap-feeling SUV really is one to forget.

Lots of Issues

This is a nice-looking vehicle… review-wise, things kind of go downhill from there. We are in a rental and as the passenger, I’m taking the time to find a place to post this review because of this poor experience. I am literally covering all the surfaces of the center console as well as part of the dash with a shirt because the sun overhead is reflecting off of all of these surfaces. It is blinding me and damaging my eyesight. In additional, even though it’s a low-mileage vehicle, these reflective materials are already scratched up. Here are other problems: there is an issue with Eco-boost that causes the vehicle to rev up to major RPMs while losing speed. This car only has 2000 miles on it so it doesn’t seem like a normal maintenance situation. We actually had to pull off of the highway and turn off the car to reset everything so we could continue our journey. The digital-only gas gauge is inaccurate, wildly fluctuating so that one minute we had 40 miles left, the next minute we see a warning that the vehicle will be out of gas in less than a mile. There is not sufficient power to safely pull out into an opening in traffic, there power train seems to be delayed or the acceleration does not kick in when it needs to. The backing camera images are blurry, while if you try to look behind you and manually check for clearance, it is very difficult to see out of the back because of the back seat and rear supports. We also do not appreciate the red color of all of the LED displays, which come across like warning lights throughout. While there are several ways to adjust the seats, there is nothing for adjusting lumbar support and these sporty bucket seats are not comfortable. And the incredibly annoying beeping that occurs when you use the turn signals, ugh! One more thing, there is not a good place to rest your mobile devices. While you can stow them in the center armrest, the interior and thus your device gets very hot as you travel. And lastly, the factory speakers are not great. So overall we cannot recommend this vehicle.

The car lurches forward at 10:20 and 30 mph jerks back and forth it's brand new with 20,000 miles on it and hasn't towed anything it's a worthless piece of garbage. It has no power what's so ever and when starting from a dead stop it drops the rpm so severely that you really have to step on the gas to get it to move. There are way better suvs out there at a better price.

I Love My Eclipse Cross

I bought a 2024 Eclipse Cross LE and I absolutely love it! I think that Mitsubishi is greatly underappreciated by the experts. My Eclipse Cross has very peppy performance from a small turbocharged engine. If you have to be the first one to the stop light (so you can wait for others to catch up) then you might not like this car. If you love collecting tickets for highway speeding you might not like this car. If you are a conservative driver that obeys laws and wants an economical car that is well built and includes LOTS of standard features then you will love the Eclipse Cross, much as I do.

The 2024 Eclipse Cross is comfortable, drives well, and is decent on gas but Mitsubishi has failed on a few aspects. The minor issues are the poor quality of the backup camera. Replacing the manufacturer installed with a cheap generic camera would be a step up as the installed camera makes it look like your reversing in stop-motion animation. Second is the sound system. The installed system is reminiscent of early 90’s Audiovox or Radio Shack speakers. The real problem with this year and model is the headlights. The headlights only illuminated the road for 25 to 30 feet while failing to illuminate above road level, and the lights are non-adjustable. There are sensors in the lights that cast distracting shadows at the top of the illuminated area as well. The brights setting solves the issue but the auto brights turn themselves off when there are reflective signs such as speed limit signs on the road, or if going uphill. Because of these lighting issues this year and model it is incredibly unsafe to drive after sunset. I emailed Mitsubishi to inquire about this issue a few times, but Mitsubishi has not deemed me worthy of a response. If you don’t enjoy music or night driving safety this is a nice car. If you drive at night, I strongly recommend skipping this model. UPDATE For months the traction control light and power drops off when I go over speed bumps and the rpm's spike to 5500 and maintains 20-30 mph when I pull into traffic for about a half mile. I then need to pull onto the side of the road, put the car in park, and back I to gear before trying g to pull out again. I alerted Mitsubishi Motors customer support several times and they continue to not respond. They sold me a lemon and don't care. I feel the us should dissalow the sale of these cars until Mitsubishi motors decides to stand behind their product. Unfortunately their company has become a joke without humor. Buy any other brand car and save yourself time and money on these pos's.
