The overlooked item
We are all raving about the new E320/500. Has any one of you ever looked into the trunk. Yes it is now as large as in a VW, but the spare tire...a donut on a black rimm, What is becoming of MB.And try to get the tire out, you have dismantle the whole trunk.Very disappointing will not buy unless I get a full size matching wheel.
Mercedes E 500
Awesome vehicle! Mercedes definitely hit this one on the nose. Having a sedan with this much performance makes me question why I keep a Corvette in the garage.

Love my E
This represents my 7th MB car and 6th E class. MB finally got it totally right. Nothing left to lust for except the SL for top down summer driving.
No complaints
Very satisfied - no major complaints.
Slick and quick
The E500 is an exceptional automobile in that the ride is well controlled and yet it is not harsh by any means. It has ample power and the adaptive transmission is silky smooth. The style is not in your face so to speak, yet it is very tastefully executed.
Not for the faint of heart
By far the best vehicle I've ever owned. I traded in a 1999 E430 for this car, and she was certainly worth it. The acceleration of this velicle is unbelievable. My wife hates to ride with me, especially if we're merging unto the interstate (prime opportunity to to show off). I would only recommend this car to those whom a doctor has certified as healthy.
Chrysler must have done the Quality Cont
Since Dec 2002, I've had 5 visits to Mercedes service. Once for the B service, others for a noisy break pedal, After the B service, I took it back for a dead audio system, and two days after a Flash update, I took it in for an error in the audio system, and defective SOS system. This is my 3rd Mercedes since 1999 and if things don't improve, it will be my last.
Beautiful Car - Has Some Little "Issues"
I love my E320 - but it has been in the shop too many times for the same issues. First: the integrated telephone. Don't waste your money! I sound like I have my head in a bowl whenever I use it - and it took out my audio when they installed it. The dealership had the car for a total of approx. 6 wks to get it fixed. Recently brake light malfunction came on. Dealership tried to sell me brakes I didn't need. All that needed replaced was the sensor in the rear brake light. It took almost 2 weeks to get the sensor diagnosed and replaced. Other than that the car is fabulous. MB needs to get their service centers to solidly, accurately support their products.
e500 sport
waited months for this car. an absolute dream.love everything about it except the drive by wire brakes.
Great Ride
From the first day that I took delivery of my E500 I have had fun. The car is beautiful and driving experience is the best. The Germans really know how to build a great automobile.
classy wagon
this is a great wagon, which rides like a sedan. it is beautiful both inside and out. i dreaded ever having to get another suv,so this is my second mercedes e320 wagon. i loved the first one and so far this has surpassed my expectations. it is functional, gorgeous, and practical. the only negative might be that the brakes are little too sensitive to touch(or perhaps it's my lead foot).
German Cars Not so Perfect
The car has less than 2000 miles on it and has been in the shop TWICE already. The first time, they replaced a sensor to correct an idle problem. Within 48 hours, the "check engine" light came on and it went back to the shop. This time they kept it overnite, replaced another sensor and now I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Dissapointed
This $50K car has spent too much time at the dealership for minor repairs. I feel high tech has gone too far with this vehicle. For example, rain sensor windshield wipers, automatic seat adjustment, these two things have never worked and dealer has not been able to fix. Oil level too high, this keeps appearing as a malfunction on computer screen. Gas cap has to be frequently repaired. Winshield wipers make awful scraping noise even when wet, dealer also unable to fix. Very dissapointing auto
First 4 months
The first 4 months I owned this vehicle was nothing but problems. Came home one night and the trunk had magically opened. The interior lights were flashing on and off, controls would not work. Dealer had it off and on for two weeks. Door lock is set to open only driver's side door. Sometimes it unlocks the one door - other times it unlocks all four. Tilt wheel sometimes works - sometimes doesn't. I have had it 7 months now. Appears the problems have been fixed. Waiting for something else to happen...
Best E-55 Yet
Wonderful car to drive anywhere. Very quick and fast when necessary. The car will adapt to anyone's style or need. Fantastic reliablity and build quality. This car was very much worth the long wait. Mercedes finally put a set of attractive wheels on an AMG.
E500 Rocks
First time Mercedes owner and I love my E500. It's fully loaded. I was thinking of getting a Q45 or Jaguar S type R, I'm glad I didnt. As far as the the overall style it's sporty & youthful yet luxuriest & sophisticated all in one awesome package. As for the price it's hefty but damm I'm HAPPY. NO regrets.
what was i waiting for ?
i sold my zx9 sport bike,,no time to ride it with my real estate job,,police job,,and daddy job,,bought this for my wife as a gift for getting her doctoral degree,,what the hell was i waiting on,,this car has made me not want to get another bike,,i find my self going to look at it in the garage,,,yep just like the commerical,,,i leave the light on in the garage now and painted the floor grey,,to make the car comfortable,,,lol,,now i am looking foward to dressing her out,,18 inch rims, amg sports pkg,,,i dont car what it cost,,i must have it,,
PHENOMENAL VEHICLE
I only have the car for three weeks and love every moment I'm in it!. The interior is super! Very comfortable seats for long trips, and the optional stereo system is A+. Did not experience any mechanical problems yet, and hoping not to for a while, since the built quality of this car is phenomenal. After my previous Lexus GS400, the E500 handling is like driving a Formula 1 car (especially in sports mode). Dont't get me wrong, the Lexus was one fine auto with a good heart, but this M-B is far superior!
No BMW
I own a E500 and it is not worth 60,000 dollars. The inside is cheap looking the braking it elctronic, the engine sounds like a civic and its handling is not the best. It is a nice looking car but I would not reccommend it. I have driven the 2003 540i 6-speed and man is that a nice car, its simple, fast, fun and with the new body work its still up there with the E in looks.
You don't always get what you pay for
I have enjoyed my car, but have some concerns: (1) It should have more horsepower for the price (2) It's been in the shop 3 times before the first service because the computer has malfunctioned (3) the dealer's service has been very dissapointing (4) rear leg room inadequate
Falling Apart
We bought this vehicle about 2 years ago as certified used from dealership. We have been taking it in for repairs about 3-4 times a year. Head lamps have gone out a few times each. The radio quit working a few months ago-replacement costs $1,200. Warning lights go on about once a month for coolant level, brakes, lamps, etc. once every few months. The transmission is very jerky at low speeds. Interior trim pieces and outer roof strip are coming off. The engine/transmission noise while driving is loud and harsh. Interior truck lock assembly is falling apart.
I like it!
I just moved from a 97' E-class, which was nice, but this new one is another class. Better handling, ride, acoustics, comfort ergonomics. Mercedes must have been reading the feedback from past E customers.
IMPRESSED
I have owned most high end sedans and 2 other E Class automobiles. This is a totally different experience than any of the others. It has the size and comfort of the Lexus LS 430, the style of a staring value of my 911 and that tried and true Mercedes quality. If you drive an E 500- you will have to have one.
New E class will impress
I have been driving the new E class three months. Very nice car. Frim yet luxurious ride. Teh 32o has plenty of horses for me buut some BMW converts may opt for the 500. The new exterior styling in nearly perfect. I really love it. That charcoal gray interior is tough to beat.
Software has bugs
Car is great, but engine makes noise (malfuntion, they order the parts already), error msg come on seveal times because the software bugs. Looks great, drive great, keyless-go is a great feature and a must. Sport package has stiffness adjustment is also a very good feature for a sports car fan.
Love This Car
First Mercedes I have ever own, I have never driven a car like this, the car is smooth, the suspension system is awesome,I am averaging about 18 miles city highway combination, I can,t understand why I had to pay a gas guzzler tax, I would recommend this car to any BMW owner, they will never drive an BMW again.
The Best of the Best
Compared to my 2000 E320 which I thought was an outstanding car, this simply puts it to shame. The style, both exterior and interior is so much more comfortable and room to spare. Can it get any better?
Great car
I "upgraded" from E320 circa 2000 to the same model circa 2003. What a difference! The car is completely re-designed, everything is better - from seats that now include storage cmpartment in the front to trung that is twice as large. The car is much closer to S-class, it is larger and roomier than previous model. Overall - much better car.
Back for More Baby
This is my 3rd Mercedes (an upgrade from the 1999 E320). Beautiful features and lines. Rides like a dream. What an upgrade from the 320.
THE BEST RIDE OF MY LIFE!
EVEN THOUGH I HAVE HAD THIS BEAUTY FOR A SHORT TIME, I am in love! It is the best riding, driving, handling little rocket, that I ve ever driven. I will never, hopefully, be forced to have anything other than a Mercedes again. It is not only a beautiful car to look at, it drives like a dream and has the best braking system I ve ever experienced. I can t say enough! i give it a 10+!
the best damn Mercedes ever
Best damn Mercedes-Benz ever. Have owned five MB's...this one..positively the best in series. Handling: superb, moving to a five link rear suspension. Comfort: not as nice as the Nappa Leather in the S class, but very supple. Sytle: exotic...how the lines overshadow the headlamps...sinuously gliding up the hood..simply amazing
Love the car
In terms of performance, the car is very enjoyable to drive. It's handling is excellent, and the seat comfort cannot be beat. The interior dashboard and controls are far more appealing than the S class, Lexus, and Infinity. Only BMW and Audi come close. I hope its reliability is as good as my first impression.
BMW Beater
I have has this for 2 mouths and it is great. Every time I get in a feel like i find something more exiting to do. The V* is amazing with smooth acceleration, it ride is a perfect cobination of luxury ride and sport ride.
Great Performance and Style
It's my fist Mercedes - very elegant with a sporty flavor - the back seat is a bit cramped for our teenager. The finish and appointments are excellent. Another 50 HP would be nice - it's heavy and it doesn't exactly jump off the line. Great, solid ride!
Luxury Sports Performance
Beautiful car. Favors luxury over performance, but this car is no slouch. Steering is a bit heavy and braking takes some getting used to. Overall, this car is a tremendous blend of luxury and performance. Highly recommended.
Impressions of my 2003 E500
This is a great car, the best I've ever owned. It is smooth, well made, quiet, and powerful. The fit and fisnish is excellent.
Beautiful piece of junk
Bought a 2003 E320 in October. Loved it at first. Since then it's been in the shop 4 times. Three audio system failures, central gateway controller failures (kinda scary in a brake-by- wire car), thermometer and an apparent engineering glitch in the way the door locks in the driver's side door is built. It sticks and won't open sometimes. Mercedes corporate hasn't even bothered to contact us and express their concern. Don't but this car.
Love it
I have always dreamed of owning a M-Benz and have loved every second of it. It drives, rides, looks, everything the way I dreamed it would. Bought it with a extended warranty and 42000 miles. Only problems I have had have been with the seat memory and a little static on the stereo. Millage is good on the highway at 28.9 mpg.
Be flexible for reasonable request
It is waired as it is: If you order a E without Sport Package, you can only pick Burl Walnut woodtrim; If you order a E with Sport Package, you cannot change to pick Burl Walnet woodtrim, you have to get the ink-like Black Birdeye Maple even you don't like it. The dealer can do nothing since the manufacture do not provide the change option. It just let me feel not confortable.
Wheeeeee
The new E500 is incredible. Nothing missing for luxury. Stands out in a crowd. Touch shift and sport suspension are awesome. After learning about the features the car is 10x better than the test drive. Yea MB
Fix the breaks!
the car's interior and exterior are very stylish and impressive. the car rides smoothly and feels heavy on the road. it's definitely an eye turner with the new re-design. however, it lacks the over quality of mercedes due to many of the "electronic sensing" functions in the car. the brakes are the biggest disappointment along with the lack of acceleration when turning the car and depressing the accelerator at speeds of around 30mph
Nothing really
This car handles great, acceleration is pretty decent, still in break in period. Interior design is beautiful. the longer you stay in this vehicle, the more detail and appreciation you have for this car.
Happy! Still Evaluating
Our initial family drive was 1800 miles. We toured through valleys and mountains. Gas mileage was above 29 mpg. Interstate driving was great. Cruised at 75 for over 100 miles before a needed stop. I loved the ride.
2003 E320
The new E320 is a well built luxury sedan. It's smooth gliding ride and tight, responsive handling are top notch. The car feels glued to the road at all speeds and has no problem pulling it's weight and then bringing it to a stop. A true German Luxury Sport Sedan. There has been an annoying noise / vibration coming from the front during starting and stopping. Sounds like a break rub or something.
The best car I had ever bought
I havent even checked its cooling fluid.First time u sit behind steering u should first chekh the manual coz its like a airplanes cockpit.but in few days everything is under control.
The Bomb
This car is the bomb.I was a lexus owner and made the change to the benz.Best move I ever made. The car looks and handles great. There is nothing that looks better on the road. The interior looks great and is very confortable
Best ever
Have owned most styles of American Luxury cars and enjoyed each. The E320, however, is a step above in quality of construction, more than adequate power, feeling of safety, handling and just fun to drive. Will buy another.
What I would expect for the money.
Bought this new 2003 E320 sedan for my wife. I wanted a safe reliable and nice car for her to drive. The car falls nothing short of spectacular. We love the style both in and out and the car comes with more features you could even use. We only have had this car for a month now so can't really judge realiablity now. Ride is great, handling is excellent (we didn't want a sprots car). Handles better than any high end american auto sedan and we have had a Caddy, Lincoln in the past. I currently own a 2003 540 BMW and the MB is nicer all around.
What a dream!!!!!
Purchased my third Mercedes, and this is the best one yet. The E-320 with the Sport Package and Tectite Gray color. This is a head turner, and puts my wifes E-320 Wagon 2002 to shame. The leather seats are awesome, the surround sound stereo is better than my home unit. And, this baby kicks!!
This is my third Benz
This is my third Mercedes E320. I had an '86, '97, and now this '03. The car is as excellent as it has always been. My only complaint is the size of the interior. I find that this model is a lot smaller inside than the previous models, and so is the trunk, even if Mercedes claims it is not. Apart from that, it is strong, sturdy, reliable, and as good as always. It's just a wonderful car to drive and have.
