Used 1999 Mazda MX-5 Miata Consumer Reviews
More fun than a Human should be allowed!!!
I have had my 1999 Miata for about 12 years now, and it has been as trouble free as can be! Mine is the 10th Anniversary Edition, but it is still a great little running car, and has given me almost no trouble. One problem was a recurring MAF sensor being fouled, but I found online that if you change the outlet for the sensor to the middle of the valve cover from the rear outlet, the problem goes away and never comes back! I have replaced the convertible top, and did get the car repainted shortly after I got it (with 80K miles), but that was mostly because the cowboy I bought it from seemed to think that you never had to dry out under the bra he put on the front, and I didn't want a white nose, on a Sapphire Blue car! This always feels like it can really haul a__ and is just so fun to run it up to redline and feel like you are tearing up the road! Great fun, fantastic ride, if a bit cramped for big guys, and very low maintenance, if you take care of it! I keep looking a the new ones, then figure why should I spend that kind of money, when I have the things I want in an older and paid for model!

Problem Free & Blast to Drive
Purchased this car used in 2001 as an anniversary present. My wife & I have never had as much fun driving before this. Engine is tight and cornering is a joy. Short-throw shifter is the best. Most important, I just change oil and go(Synthetic every 7500). Never had a mechanical problem in 2 yrs (70K miles). I am continuely impressed with the body design--a work of art. Be careful not to become a dangerous driver in city traffic due to its acceleration & quick manuevering. Not a bad weather car or for drivers over 6' tall.

Just purchased and love the handling. Only had 50K miles. I bought this over the Z3 for the following reasons: -Reliability, Glass Back Window, Manual Top
My Car
Hello.... We got this littel beutiful car for just a while a go, but I have to say that this is truly a fun car to drive, I guess a lot of people say that this is a toy car, but I have to say that this is wrong, my baby suprises me when it comes to the handeling, balance, the easy shift. One word for this car WOW!!..I like it..
Satisfied Long-term Owner
Purchased new in 1999, I have had this Miata for 5 years. It is the most reliable car I have ever owned. Great fun to drive with the top down. I have replaced the battery twice, and there was a minor problem with the Bose speakers in the first year (replaced under warranty), but absolutely no other problems. If you fit into this small car, you will LOVE it, even long term.
