Old dog still hunts!
The Miata and I became acquainted in the early spring last year. I immediately fell in love. There have not been any mechanical breakdowns on this high mileage machine (198,000 so far). I have added a few inexpensive handling improvements (lowered shocks/springs, strut bar, sway bars front and rear, and new performance tires). These have brought the car alive! There have been a few more reconditioning items that I have added to make the ride more enjoyable but this car although not fast handles the mountains around here like nothing else! Lots of fun to be had while still doing less than jail worthy speeds. I love the old Miata.
Lotsa Miles
Fun and reliable car. Averaged about 30mpg in combined city/highway driving. Regular gas. The interior is a bit cramped if you have long legs. The cigarette lighter may hit your knee. I have put about 130k miles on this car. It still has the original front suspension components, alternator and many other components. I only had problems (initially) with the clutch pump and head gasket. After their replacement - at about 100k miles - I've had no further problems with these items. Very reliable and fun car. Highly recommended. I just bought a 2001 model to replace this one. You'll love this car.

Nothing like a go-kart on steroids
My baby, my first car. And what more can I say that hasn't been said. If you're a young male owner many people will criticize you for maintaining possession of the car, but do not heed their words. Most stock cars don't corner like a Miata, and with such little weight the car is very nimble. I've had this car for just over 3 years now, and it won't be my last, but I do plan on keeping my baby for awhile, because it's so much fun to drive, especially in sunny Florida. And though the RX-7 and others are better at it, drifting in this car is still lots of fun, at sponsored Drift Days. One downside is that it is a pain to work on, and at least mine breaks down often, but it is 13+ y.o
'95 Miata M
Love this car! Bought it in '98 with 32K miles and have put another 50K on it myself. I have not had a single problem with this car, save an airbag recall last year. The only other maintanece has been new brakes and tires at 70K (should have had new tires earlier), a new battery last week (82K), and oil changes. It is a blast to drive - corners like nobody's business. The looks are great-timeless and classy. I drive it hard and still get 28 mpg.
Still Looking Good After 17 Years
About 2 months ago I bought a 1994 Miata equipped with the B-Package and ABS. It had 53,XXX miles on it, had never been in an accident, and had all the records. I got the car for $3,000. This has hands down been one of the best gamble of my life. I absolutely loves this little car. Its a blast to drive, still feels as solid as a rock (especially for an mid 90's convertible), gets great gas mileage, and looks absolutely stunning. And, what surprised me is it actually sounds good for a 4 cylinder. Plus, The car fits my family and I perfectly (I'm the tallest at 5'8"). I expect many more happy, fun filled miles in this two seater.
I Love my car!!!!!!!!!
Her name is Whitney and she is beauty! I have loved her from the first time I saw her! She is fun to drive and just my size! For years my sisters (All drive large cars) have questioned my decision not to buy another cars. 1. Theres no need! Whitney provides everything I want in a car. 2. Gas is too damn high! I get 27 miles to the gallon! 3. When we all get together, my car is left at home. Only two seats so not good for carpools or designated driving! 4. NO CAR PAYMENT FOR MORE THAN 10 YEARS! Need I say more?
Excellent car, no regrets.
I've got a 95 M-edition in Merlot, purchased for a song about four months ago. Beautiful car, a joy to drive. It's flashy, zippy, handles tight and clean, and holds a lot more than it looks. It never fails to get attention and admiration. It feels utterly safe to drive, with that edge of excitement that comes with owning such a fast, sexy little machine. With only one exception, something inexpensive to fix, it has never let me down. This is my primary mode of transportation--I will never go back to more "sensible" vehicles. There isn't much I'd change about this car, and I have no regrets whatsoever about buying it.
Still the One
I have owned my triple black base miata since it was a pup in 1995. It is still as exciting as ever. It sits next to my 1975 Datsun 280Z that I have owned since it was a pup, too. The handling of the Miata is incredible, it has done things I didn't know were possible. The Z car is for power - the Miata is for fun... Normal maintenance is all I have ever done and it's easy enough that I do most of it myself. Great car - glad I made my decision back in '95 - like I said earlier "my Miata is still the one"
The Best Sportscar I have EVER Owned
I have owned a '73 Z-29, (2) 1972 240-Zs, a 1971 Series 1 240Z, a 1969 Mustang GT and a 1978 Corvette. All had great points and glaring weaknesses. The Miata has no glaring weaknesses but some off-the-chart strengths. This is easily the best handling car I have ever driven. With street tread mounted on OEM 14 inch rims, and a completely stock suspension, this car takes curves with a predictability I cannot imagine will ever be improved upon. The engine pulls in every, single gear and the shifter is heavenly. The cockpit has just the right instrumentation and an honest set of mechanical gauges. Fuel economy is amazing and has never failed to deliver less than 21 mpg in town and 27 on the highway. I seldom drive this car with any consideration of fuel economy, so those numbers can be improved upon. The body is solid and well put together. The engine is pretty simple to service, as long as you are not changing the oil. That can be a bit messy. I cured that with the addition of a Cobalt Oil Filter Relocation Kit. The rear end and gearbox are dead simple to access and service. Oh, by the way, this car has a Torsen Limited Slip Differential. Amazing quality for a very low price. As for folks derisively calling this car "effete", drive the thing and then talk. It does more with the 128 base horsepower and four cylinders than my 71 240-Z could with 150. I loved my Z. I love my Miata.

Love this car!
This was my first Miata. It was a mid-life crisis car and it proved all I wanted it to be! Excellent performance and a fun car to drive. Mine with the auto only gets about 21/26 mpg. It isn't as frugal as I thought. The top is the original factory top and is still in good condition. I am impressed with the reliability. It is a solid car in every respect.
Simply Perfect
I had a car similar to the Miata before I actually bought one and the difference is incredible. Nothing compares to this car! It's an incredible performer, it's very easy to work on in your own driveway, and its reliability is outstanding. I didn't know much about working on cars before I bought my Miata; but, soon after, I'm pretty handy and do a lot of maintenance and improvements myself. This car makes you want to learn about working on cars. The aftermarket support is great and provides pretty much every type of upgrade or accessory you could think of. I don't know if I'll ever own anything except Miatas. Well, when I have kids I might get a sedan, but the Miata will stay in the garage.
1995 Mazda Miata
I bought this car used (former lease) in 1997, and have few complaints. It is has excellent performance and handling, is economical and very fun to drive. The interior is sporty yet spartan, and fairly well-laid out. The exterior is a true classic. I keep up with the nominal maintenance schedule and made a few upgrades in brake system and suspension. There is a huge aftermarket of products for the enthusiast. This is an inexpensive, dependable and fun ride.
classic roadster
I have a 1994 M-edition and man, it is great. For the price, I am awestruck by the handling. It's a car that doesn't attract the wrong attention, it doesn't turn in record quarter mile times...but if you get in the car, and shift through the gears, and take a sharp right turn at high speeds, you'll know you're driving something special. I've taken sharp turns at somewhat high speeds, and I haven't once yet heard the tires slipping. I feel as if the car is on rails!
94M
I bought this car several years ago having wanted one for a long time. it had over 125K on the clock and needed a top, shocks and seats, but the body and mechanicals were good. I gave it a new top, opting for a heated glass cloth top. I reupholstered the seats in leather. Upgraded the shocks and installed sway bars. I haven't enjoyed driving this much since my Fiat days in the 70s.
Fun, relatively cheap
Mostlly a 3 season car (in NJ)....fun, easy (convertible top), very reliable, low maintenance. with a few extras to the basic Miata (sway bars, better tires), the car really is fun.
I love the Miata
I bought a new Miata in 1992 but was forced to trade it in 1994 while pregnant with my first child. It's been ten years but I've finally purchased another one. I wanted the car "bare bones," no power accessories, and I found one that fit my description. This car is so much fun to drive and such a good buy for the money. I even enjoy the fact that it's a 1st edition Miata (the headlights are hidden). I don't plan on getting rid of this one! I highly recommend the Miata. They hold their value well and they become a car that you can get very attached to. I'm already planning to buy another used one!
95 Miata
I was so lucky to get a Miata for my first car. A 95 Miata with 70k on it, excellent condition for $5500. This car is more fun to drive than anything else I've driven, esp. with top down. Just watch out for sunburns. Handles like a dream and looks great. Everything about it is so perfectly designed. I don't have to take my eyes off the road to operate the radio for example. The shifter is near perfect. This car is definitely a future classic.
My 50th Birthday Gift
Gave myself a new '95 M-Edition for 50th birthday. Best decision I ever made. Garage it in the winter. Love it each spring and summer. Totally trouble free, low maintainence expense----the joy of my life. Glad I chose it over the BMW Z3 that had just come out.
This car rocks!
I have a '94 Mazda Miata M-edition convertible. It is a perfect car if you are looking for more than a boring family sedan. Performance is awesome, (especially lateral acceleration) although the engine could use a few more horses. But that's nothing a nice supercharger can't handle! It is very reliable and a blast to drive. If you want a car to drive on the weekend, theres nothing more fun for the money, believe me.
94 MX5 best of all the cars ive ever owned .
Drive and experienced the joy and happiness by owning one.

Fun 3rd Car
Great car for a weekend road trip or a commute to work. Visibily is not great with top up when it is raining and you are on a busy interstate. Would not think of using it if the steets were snow covered. Driving is nmever so much fun than in a Miata when the sun is shining.
Awesome Sports Car
Very very fun car to drive! Wonderful on corners and I have experience in cars such as toyota supra and MR2. It makes those cars look like garbage on corners.
Great car!!!!
One of the greatest things about a Miata is, even if you have one that's less than perfect, people will often think you paid 2 to 3 times as much as you actually did. It's a great value car for the price -- handles wonderfully, looks spiffy, and can make driving fun again for even the most jaded driver.
9 Years without a problem
I actually found myself on this site looking at purchasing a new entry level luxury car. After reading tons of reviews and calculating the monthly payments I had to really ask myself "why"?! My 94 Miata has been absolutely trouble free for the 6 years that I've owned it. Okay, I'll admit that I had to replace a 5 cent fuse last summer but it busted due to a faulty aftermarket light reminder buzzer I put in 5 years earlier! This car is tough and will go and go like no other car I've ever owned. Not only that, but the paint and interior still look new with only simple maintenance.
My Miat
Bought 1994 Miata used. Has been a great low maintenance car that is really fun to drive.
Miata Rulz
Bought my Used 94'M-edition in 1998,love at first sight.I have since put 150000 miles on, and had minimal problems,The handling is impeccable,as is reliabilty.I can't kill it. 10 yrs old and I still hit 120 on the straight.Normal wear and tear accepted. ..ie a transmission..The Miata is by far the best and most fun car I have ever owned.
More fun for the money than...
any other car I've driven. Never thought a car this much fun to drive is so reliable and economical to own. A little less power than one might want in a sports car, but that's one of the reasons they hold up so well. With proper care and feeding they will last a very long time. Iv'e owned mine for 4 years and there has been no noticable change in performance with only regular maintenance.
Miata's rock
I love my miata. I just recently bought my first car which was a miata so of course I loved it right away but I didn't realize how much fun it was till it got warm enough to put the top down. This is an awesome little car, everyone should have a chance to drive one.
love it
I drive this car year round in chicago and it sticks to the road even when snowing.
Still Grinning After All These Years
After 7 years in this Mazda I am still in love with this car. I feel like I am a kid again in a go-kart or Phil Hill racing a vintage british sports car. And on a warm summer's eve, top down, this car is so relaxing it's good for the soul. Downside: small trunk, noise, can make passengers carsick on twisty or rough roads. Very reliable, cheap insurance, easy to supercharge! In short, this is the perfect for a Walter Mitty that doesn't want to spend $50k.
Go Miata!
The mazda miata is a great little sports car with great pick up and is the most fun to drive car on the road! the only thing I see wrong is the gas milage!
Zoom! Zoom!
Have only had this 15 year old car for four months, but what a fun ride so far! Was looking for inexpensive, reliable, fun and sure found it in the Miata. When I was a kid I had an MGB in high school and another in college. This car handles better, gets better gas mileage and is much more reliable.
loving my miata
wonderful on curvy roads and to get away from it all, this car allows the utmost freedom. You can put the top down while sitting at a stoplight and (suprise) tha design of the car allows you to drive it with the top down in a rainstorm and never feel a drop! I love this car... great for a realiable yet cheap sports car!
Wicked cool
A great, fun-to-drive sportscar.
Not just a chick car
I had bought this car for $1000 knowing that I would likely modify it. It was cheap since it was bought from a friend. I am now a firm believer in Miatas. I understand why there are so many of them around. Even in stock form, it handles amazing, the motor purrs at high rpm, and the fun factor increases exponentially with the top down. It such a fun little car to drive, I use it all the time just to take it on the road. Some wider wheels, sway bars, and shocks is going to be SO much fun....even in stock form this car is a driver's dream!. I knew many like the 94 because of more HP and have to say this one is no slouch...it feels very good.
95 Miata
This has been one of the most reliable and fun to drive cars that I've ever owned. It is extremely easy to work on and it begs to be driven. Good on gas, oil and the other automotive life bloods.
Good Value, Dependable
only problem I had was with an oil seal leak which was covered under warranty and probably caused when i auto-cross raced one weekend. very dependable car 8 fun to drive
Awesome
Great car!
Great tuner car
Wow what can I say? I mean this is an amazing car very reliable, somewhere around 30 mpg, and drives amazing. My Miata has been garaged for a majority of its life (only 101,000 miles) clean engine havent had any problems ever.
No regrets
Got a Miata last fall and I can't wait for summer to kick in! Cheap insurance, good gas mileage, proven reliability, large support network online... Shall I continue?
...and the Mazda goes, "Hmmm."
Maybe pre-mature - I've owned this car for only 9 months - but I have enjoyed every trouble free moment I've had it. Very impressed that an almost 16 year old car drives as well and feels as tight as this one does. I bought it with less than 80000 miles so it's been gently used over the years. When I was a kid in high school and college I had a couple of MGB's and loved 'em, but they were troublesome and unreliable. So when I set out to get another roadster to recapture the fun of open air driving I just had to get a 1st generation Miata. I get not only the fun, but the trouble free reliability as well. Having the both together is almost too good to believe.
Great Little Roadster
This is my summer car. Fun car to drive, even for a teenager! I'm 18 years old, and I just love driving the car. Great manual transmission, short throws. Great handling, near 50-50 weight, Great turning car. Get good MPG with the 1.8L
Fun and still running!
I have owned my Miata for 12 years. My parents bought it for me as my first car when I turned 16. It has 120000 miles on it, and It has never broken down. It has never left me stranded. I have had it serviced when it was due. The interior and exterior are still in excellent condition. I live in TX so the weather is usually always perfect for top down fun! The leather and wood trim are all in excellent condition. This has been a true delight to own and I will be buying another Miata when this one finally dies, which I hope will not be for a long time.
It's a blast to drive
Hands down, the most fun that can be had in a car for under $30k.
Cannot be beat for the money!!
I have a black Miata with tan interior leather with the Nardi stick shifter. I was moving to Florida and wanted a weekend car. My first choice was a MR2, but no luck on one in good condition. My brother had a 91 with 170000 miles with no problems so I bought one. I have not done any major work in 6 years. Only oil changes, put synthetic gear fluid and a set of plugs and air filter. I did have to replace the top but for 560 dollars including labor you can't beat. I am running Mobil 1 synthetic and I get 31 MPG and tha'ts with the air running half the time. Anyone looking for an inexpensive convertible and does not mind go-cart type ride and handling then this is the car for you.
AMAZING
I can tell you I bought a 1994 Mazda Miata in 1997 and I loved that car! I traded it in for another car in 2003 and I can honestly say I wish I had never done that! I literally had nightmares that night about leaving my car with people she did not know. haha Once I get my kids out of the house.. I will buy another one! Fun car to drive and mine had the speakers in the headrest. loved that car!

My new old Miata
I just had my little car's engine rebuilt by the mechanic whose worked on her since 2000. It's like driving a new car. Everything else mechanical on my well maintained vehicle is in near- new condition (the interior is my next project). I've loved every minute of driving this car and with the engine done, I am looking forward to another 15 years (before the next engine replacement!)
Fun toy
I've had my Miata for 1.5 years or so, and it's been a pretty good car. The mechanical quality is very good, and the interior is holding up well, too. This car is super, super fun to drive. I've never owned a car that's been more enjoyable behind the wheel. It does require that you keep up with the maintance regularly, but if you do, it should be trouble free.
A reliable FUN car!!
My wife and I have had our '95 Miata for 14 months. In those 14 months this car has put nothing but smiles on our faces. Just drop the top, which is extremely simple, and all your problems seem to just melt away. Its just a simple car which I never dreamed would be this fun to own! If you're in the market for a reliable, cheap, used, fun car DO NOT overlook the Miata.
