Want to Buy Mazda, Read and Think Again
My MPV is yr 2003 with 109xx miles. As of today 2-27-2018, it broke down on the road and we decide to quit it. I would like to list everything I suffered through with the car so help you consider, if you still dare... 1. Bad Transmission/Performance. 2. Spark Plugs replaced 3 times/design issue. 3. 2 out of 4 windows had electronic control issues 4. replaced 4 sensors to remove the engine light, ouch. 5. noise from under the hood-spent 2 grands and problem kept hitting.. 6. Interior mirrors all popped and dropping. 7. driver side window can't roll back on. 8. Slide door press/lock failed in remote control. 9. oil leak 10. engine oil draining bolt had worn thread causing leak.

Stay away from Multi Problem Vehicle
I bought this used car at 103k miles & drove it for another 5k & the engine gave way. A spark plug popped out while the car was still running, just to learn that it had damaged the cylinder. I had to replace the hard to find & fix the engine for $2500.00. Burned my pocket to that extent that I will never buy a Mazda MPV (multi problem vehicle) Not at all a reliable vehicle. Very labor consuming when it comes to repair.

Well satisfied
We moved into a mini-van when my 3rd child was born. 2 yrs old and 24,000 miles. 5 yrs later still driving it, has been on many vacations, have done only routine maintenance, and have replaced the tires once. The transmission may be going, but up until now, it has been very reliable and a great vehicle for my family.
what's not to like?
200 hp and ft/lbs of torque in a minivan that is 7/8 the size of its competitors. Zoom Zoom. So it fits in the garage nicely next to the sedan, and I especially like the passenger side windows that go down. If passengers want to wait in the car while I run in for somethingn they can. And it's really quiet inside on the highway. What remains to be seen is reliability. I'm a little concerned that it's a ford duratec V6 under the hood, so we'll see.
Don't Do It
Here's the thing: The transmission is a joke. It constantly wants to downshift on interstate hills to jerk your neck out of joint. Then at low speeds it has an abupt upshift and it feel like someone has rear-ended you. Did I mention that the fuel economy stinks? I didn't? Well, it does. Did I mention I had body rust in the fourth year? I'm an angry white MPV owner, man. Good thing they quit making this bomb.
