I consistently get 30 to 31 mpgs on the highway. Well thought out layout. Everything within reach. I have owed Mazdas for the last 25 years ranging from Miata to MPV minivans and love their dependability. They are more reliable than my Honda and Toyotas, plus more luxurious than their comparative rivals. One the Honda and Toyota go I am replacing them with Mazdas.

I have owned my CX-5 for almost 2 months and have driven 3000 miles. I downsized from an Acura MDX after becoming an empty nester, and I was initially considering an Acura RDX or Lexus RX350. I am so glad I chose the CX-5! I paid at least $15k less than the Acura or Lexus and I don't feel like I am missing anything. I love virtually everything about this vehicle. The fit and finish is high quality, the driving experience is engaging and fun. My CX-5 is value packed with features including leather with red-contrast stitching, heated/ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, heads up display, wireless charging pad, Android/Apple Auto, all wheel drive, and turbo among many others. The Turbo Signature is the trim above the Turbo Premium, and has a couple of additional driver assist features, but in my opinion, is not as a aesthetically pleasing as the Turbo Premium. The MyMazda app is great and provides remote actions, including remote start, all with no subscription fee. The two things that could be better: 1. The wireless charging pad is at an awkward angle so the phone slides off. I used a trimmed command strip to install a piece of plastic to keep the phone on the pad, problem solved. However, even when on the pad, the phone gets hot, charges very slowly and sometimes even loses power during my commute while using Android Auto and streaming podcasts or music. I usually end up plugging in to a corded charger. 2. Fuel economy could be better. It is comparable to my older, larger MDX, averaging 21-23.5 MPG. Fortunately, the CX-5 does not require premium fuel, so that offsets this somewhat. Despite these minor shortcomings, I am very happy with my purchase. I have owned 15 vehicles in my lifetime and I think this is my favorite.

Don’t trust the negative reviews. Do yourself a favor and rent a few compact SUVs before you buy. I tried Toyota RAV4, Honda CRV, Jeep Compass, and Mitsubishi Outlander, each for at least a few days. Compared with any of these, the CX-5 is a luxury SUV. The interior materials are of superior quality, and each detail is manufactured with great precision. Safety features abound, the engine is very quiet and responsive, and the control is exceptional.

I know I have only had the CX-5 for 10 days now, but I love it. The non-turbo engine has plenty of get up and go. Nice ride. Good visibility, quiet, I love the the dial. Almost luxury but not a luxury price. My only complaint is I wish it got better gas mileage.

Going into this review, it may help to know that I am 6 feet tall and approximately 190 pounds. I fit perfectly in this car. This by far is the most comfortable car I have ever been in. You do have to work the driver's seat for a while to find the most comfortable position for longer rides. I commute 1 hour each way every single day and have no issues or pains. That being said, a couple gripes I have with the interior are as follows: 1: The cup holder is in an awkward spot. I have longer arms and it's a little bit annoying because the cup holder was clearly made for shorter people with shorter arms, and it's depressed relative to what's behind it, so I have to angle my hand to grab or place things in the cup holder. 2: The trunk space is relatively bad. Even putting the back seats down I sometimes have trouble with space. It's enough for me to sleep on my back if I move the front seat forward and put something to support my head in the gap though. You actually can hold the front seat back entirely too. 3: The infotainment system. It's somewhat lacking especially compared to other vehicles. There is no touchscreen and while the rotary dial is easy to get used to, it'd still be nice to have touchscreen. The screen also takes a little bit to get used to because it looks like it should be able to retract back into the car but can't. 4: The material used on the dash and other parts of the interior are difficult to clean. I have the non-turbo model and it does sometimes lack passing power. The transmission is also a little bit goofy but at least it's an automatic transmission and not a CVT. It would be nice if it was an 8 speed. At first, the steering wheel was a little bit awkward to operate but as the car broke in it felt like I was driving a sedan. The wind can push this car a little bit but that's to be expected in a somewhat light SUV. When you're going fast, you may want to turn off lane keeping assist. While I do like the looks of the car and especially the front of the car, there is one big problem: the paint. The paint is indeed thin and after just one month of ownership and 3,000 miles I already have scratches and it has already been chipped. It costs 30$ for a good touch up kit on amazon for my color. Be very careful taking this thing to car washes. It does lack an identity if you get the non-turbo model, as it is neither particularly sporty, powerful, or distinct. To sum up my experience, I got this for reliable transportation, and I was pleasantly surprised with the comfort and technology in this car. So far I have no major complaints. I also got 0.0% financing. I'm not sure I would buy this car or any new car for that matter without that financing deal.

This is the best car I have ever owned. In fact, this is my 4th CX-5. I've had the 2017 Touring, the 2019 GT, the 2022 Signature and now the 2024 TP. Mazda by far has one of if not the best interior in its class. While I do feel that the infotainment system could be a little better, it checks all of the boxes for me. More features like a real TPMS display that shows the pressure in all four tires would be a big improvement. The fuel economy is not terrible for the amount of power the Turbo engine puts out, and it is in-line with other vehicles with similar power output. The cargo space is right for me as well, as I'm usually the only one in the car and I don't haul a lot of stuff. If you need a fancy touchscreen, frugal gas economy, and tons of cargo space the CX-5 may not be the best vehicle for you. If on the other hand, you like a plush near-luxury-level interior, an engaging drive, and a handsome styling package both inside and out then the CX-5 is a great choice. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Traded in a 2021 CX five for a 2024 higher trim level. There is still no other SUV that feels as fun driving as a CX-5. The responsive steering and 6 speed auto transmission are a delight. And it’s quiet and simple. gas mileage has gone down a touch with standard all wheel drive. That’s still a fantastic vehicle.

Update 6 months- Our CX5 has been a picture of familiarity and comfort. The Android/Apple connectivity has been a breeze and enjoyable over our previous 15'. The quality fit and finish is noticable and the sporty handling on inspires more confidence in everyday driving. Everything we enjoyed about our previous CX5 is still here only taken up a notch with the upscale interior. We don't want for more space with our two children and they enjoy riding in the Mazda as well. Easy to park and ample power with the NA engine. Buyers who need notably more space should step up to a three row. Purchased 24' Premium a little over a week ago. We're still getting acquainted with newer features from our previous 15' CX 5 Touring. Best features... Android Auto w/touchscreen, safety tech, Bose, heated seats, power lift gate, leather surfaces, 4 USB connections, 6spd auto, auto hold, full speed cruise control, power / memory seats. We already took a road trip and the cabin was noticeably quieter, The 19's ride a little firmer but can tell the suspension was revised from older version in a good way. We were able to get a fair negotiated deal with the 0% during Dec. This is our third Mazda and can also atest to the reliability. Other than less than vast rear storage and middling gas mileage the CX5 is worth continuing.

First of all, the base engine is very peppy from 0-60. It’s only at highway speeds where it isn’t as quick to giddy up. Next, at 3500 miles on the odometer, I’m getting 30 plus combined city and highway mpg out of mine and that’s at 70-75 on the interstate. As far as roominess and storage, it isn’t quite as roomy as the CRV, but the “fun-to-drive” factor makes up for that for me. The interior proclaims a luxury feel and is quiet at any speed. It reminds you of the higher priced class of vehicles. I gave it a four out of five. It might not be for everyone but in many ways it’s the “best in class”.

After a couple of months of researching small SUVS I visited local dealerships test driving a number of vehicles. Fifth on my list was the Mazda. Immediately I felt the difference. The appearance and drive was, for me, superior. Kept the car for half the day and realized this was the car for me. Never owned a Mazda before so only time will prove if it was a good decision. But as of now, loving my Mazda.

New 2024 Signature Turbo. Great car. However, the Infotainment system needs a menu redo, and the wireless Apple CarPlay connection is inconsistent. Also the radio cannot be turned off without the Mazda Connect screen going totally black. That’s weird. But the CX5 really does drive great.

At first so many new features are overwhelming, but they are very helpful once we get used to them. The CX-5 has been my preferred car choice because fits people well inside, has a good cargo area for carrying shopping, etc. It is very reliable, easy to maintain and to drive.

Let me tell you, the soul red is beautiful on this thing, and the whole car inside and out is a real eye-catcher. The engine has a good amount of get and go and is quite responsive. The leather seats are awesome for the 34k price tag total (preferred trim) and I'm happy I managed to get the 16 inch wheels in a higher trim level because I get thicker tires with them. This translates to better ride comfort. The independent suspension is sublime, but man the brakes are really mushy. 9 months in I'm still getting used to them. There's also this weird jerk that happens when coming to a stop from 45mph. It's not a shift from 2 to 1 either. I confirmed that by shifting into manual mode and watching the gears go down. I will come to a stop, I see it go to 1 and then the car just kinda jerks forward. I don't know what this is but wow is it annoying as ****. Brought it to a mazda dealership and the engineers just put their arms up like they don't see it and later claimed it was normal. Insane. I've driven 9+ different cars, manuals, cvt's, traditional automatics and none of them did that. Even had a 2016 scion iA (auto) with the supposed same 6 speed and it didn't do it either. The 2013 mazda cx9 didn't either... in fact none of the cars I've driven in OR rid in did that... totally baffled and no one has a fix. All the mazda dealerships have cancerous locations that only have high traffic 50 mph roads or semi-busy 30 mph roads making braking from 45 a total nightmare which is mainly when the problem happens. God save this car pls

We are a four Mazda family! We love Mazdas, as they are a lot of car for the price and they are reasonable to insure. Our most recent purchase was a 2024 Mazda CX-5 Preferred trim. It's beautiful and runs like a dream.

I bought CX5 last February just because my son need a car, I gave him my 2010 CX7 ( which is running so good with 190K on it). My new CX5 is really fun to drive esp in highway. I didn't notice about the slow brake as some complained. Kind of not nice if the speed is under 15miles/hour but once you pick up a speed, it run so smooth and powerful. Of course as expected the back seat have no space and small cargo space.

Pros: Good horsepower and torque. Good seat height. Easy to park. Mileage is as expected: 24 MPG combined Premium gas, and 25 MPG combined Regular gas. Good passing power. Good fit and finish. Cons: Cocoa brown seat color leads to a very hot car interior in the summer. Regular gas leads to engine rattles even though Mazda says you can use it. Dashboard buttons are way too small, way too low, and hard to read. Steering wheel is only heated at 9, 10, 2 and 3 o'clock. Remote only works within 30' of car. Remote sometimes does not work even seated in car with remote in your pocket; a message comes up that the signal is too weak. Transmission is clunk compared to Hondas. GPS is not user friendly. Key fob is massive and yet has tiny, hard to read buttons on the side. No option to turn on/off the heads up display except for that particular drive. Piano black dust collector on center console. You cannot lock the doors while the tailgate is up or closing; you must wait 20 painful seconds while the tailgate closes and locks. Side door water bottle holder does not hold water bottles vertically, but instead at a weird angle, so make sure your water bottle cap is really tight!

I bought a new Mazda CX5 Signature in June, drove it for one month and traded it. After reading reviews seeing high marks for build quality and performance, I picked a CX5 with signature trim and a turbo charged 2.5 liter 4 cylinder. The car was beautiful and well built. I enjoyed the quickness of the turbo 4 and the dark brown leather interior with wood trim was very appealing. However, regardless of the appearance, the seats were terribly uncomfortable and the interior was very cramped for both front and back seat occupants. Even with power adjustable front seats, I could never find a seat setting that I was happy with. The seats were very hard and narrow, and even after short drives, I found myself trying to find an acceptable and comfortable seat position. I would encourage anyone that is considering a Mazda take a long test drive before deciding to purchase and pay particular attention to interior space and comfort. Mazda could really take some lessons from Subaru and Honda on these points.

I love everything but the seats on this vehicle, I have driven tons of rentals, owned, borrowed and taxi vehicles and none had the worse car seats design than Mazda CX-5. AND IS PAINFUL because the vehicle is great!!! Everything is well made and practical, but as you drive it for more than 30min. then you hate it. Can't believe no one has come up with better seats for this car. Why Mazda designers have fix it????

Recently purchased a CX-5 Signature for normal commuting in and around a high altitude mountain town. After test-driving a competitor compact SUV in the class, we found the CX-5 to have excellent visibility, with a quiet ride, and confident handling on our curvy roads. The AWD has performed very well in the snow. The turbo engine is the way to go, at least around the grades we drive on, and of course, comes with lower gas mileage downside. I like the exterior styling that gives the car a classy, refined and timeless appearance after 9 or 10 iterations. The interior is designed with quality materials and layout and the luxury feel comes through. I find the controls easy to navigate, am not distracted by the heads' up display, and we were able to seamlessly integrate our android phones. The console-display interplay is dated, though we also have a 2019 BMW X3 with iDrive system and therefore no real learning curve. As noted by others, the front seats are on the small side with little side support. For long trips we use the BMW, and definitely something to consider when buying the CX-5, which is hard to judge from short test drives. The rear seat heating with controls in the center backseat pulldown, along with USB and cupholders, is a nice design feature for passengers. There is enough rear cargo space to ferry around our two medium sized dogs, although they do need to be athletic to jump in as the car sits up fairly high. We haven't had enough experience with the remote starting and phone app, but do like the key sensing that locks and opens the door on exit and entrance. Overall, we are pretty happy with the purchase.

The Mazda has some type of acoustic glass. While I wear hearing aids, sounds, mostly conversations, are difficult to hear, especially when I am the passenger. I can hear so much better in the Mazda.

I hate the entire process of buying a vehicle. We used Edmund’s to do homework and final selections then waited for dealers to contact us. Told them to give us best numbers on that vehicle and the purchase would be made in a certain date. Feel we got great deal and the cx5 carbon is fantastic!

The warning speed beep is too loud, that it may also cause a little panic to the other passengers in the car. The volume is annoying and the worst is, according to a staff I have inquired, it can't be adjusted. Other car brands, they do have the same feature but only a low volume, good enough that the driver can hear.

The CX5 is a great little car for in the city. No huge blind spots. Backup camera. However on the highway it takes forever to rich top legal speed. It’s also noisy and labors going up hills. For some reason the blind spot sensors stopped working,

We have a 2024 Mazda CX-5, and while it may be closer to a base model than the top trim, we expected more from Mazda than this. Despite what the Edmunds’ reviewer said, this car has excessive wind and road noise, a very uncompressed and busy ride, and the seats lack the comfort and support that we hoped for. Our 2016 Nissan Rogue had much better support, a much more composed ride, and much lower wind noise. The engine drones and shoots up to 5 or 6 RPM to make a simple pass on the freeway—about the only positive thing I can say about the driving experience when equipped with the base engine is the steering is relatively sharp and precise. But I would sacrifice some of its “agile handling” for a better ride, because this car is so damn bumpy. The infotainment system isn’t very good; there is barely any customization and the graphics look awful (not old, per se, but there just isn’t much by way of appearance it’s very bland and has almost no customization. A touch screen would be appreciated). The back seats are uncomfortable to be generous, and there is no USB plugs anywhere. The headlights are surprisingly dull and unhelpful considering this is a 2024 model, and the sound system leaves a lot to be desired…it’s tinny and has no bass response to speak of; it sounds like an elevator speaker and has trouble drowning out all of the road noise. Overall, I can’t recommend this car to anyone, at least a model that isn’t the top trim…which is a shame because Mazda used to be value packed, but now I would say I’d recommend, dare I say it, Nissan over Mazda. I am just not impressed with the material quality, driving experience, technology, or really anything about this car. I’m sure reliability will be great, but I won’t be getting another Mazda.

Purchase a 2024 Mazda CX-5 Sig Turbo about 1 month ago. After thoroughly driven the Mazda, I have to say the drive is spectacular. The comfort and safety technology are on point. Love the heated seats, vented seats, blind spot mirror, rain sensing wipers, auto headlight turning adjustment, and bose speakers. Everything else that it offers other cars probably have it. If you're in for a reliable drive, then I would definitely recommend it. However, I think after driving it for a month, I already feel that it lack conveniences and I would've just purchase a different car. I get it, nothing is perfect! So here's the gripes of the car. The side mirror color; why silver? Paid for signature turbo so we don't get that plastic cladding but the side mirror has to be silver different from the whole car? If you're going to make it perfect, then at least match the color of the car. The climate control seems to need some calibration, 66 degrees in the winter to blow cooler air or else the car just stays hot! The android play and carplay seems to have a bit of lag when loading and selecting different apps, it's not unbearable, but when you're driving, every second counts. The side view mirrors have no built in heat to clear fogs! The car does not have remote start except for the Mazda app which is not free after 3 years; it takes 1 whole minute for the car to start later. I think for a premium price car, it lacks luxury items that a 2011 Equinox(my last baby) had without even asking for.

Car looks beautiful inside and outside , it is also comfortable and spacious. Smooth drive lots of technologies , sunroof is a plus. MPG is great

Just purchased the CX-5 two days ago and I'm regretting it. The car handles nicely and may have some luxury details to it, but basically to hide the very basic nature of the car. It doesn't feel like a solid engine or ride. I feel like I'm driving a teapot. But that's the same as I have felt in other of these mid-size SUVs. So maybe that is what you can expect from these. The cabin layout feels like a toy car. And you feel kind of cramped in the seat, which is also hard and bumpy. I bought it because you do feel sitting upright which I like due to lower back issues. But that's about it. My legs feel trapped on the elevated sides which press against them. It's just not a comfortable ride. They added the touchscreen ability for Carplay, but it's too far away making it difficult to handle. It's weird because it's not luxury, comfort, or sport. It's just a mix that has no identity. And to top it off is not fuel efficient. I don't understand the great reviews for this car.

I bought it and i regret it now. Don't buy this vehicle if you want a smooth driving experience. Here are the issues I face everyday. Slow acceleration especially when driving in traffic Slow brakes. You have to press it long to stop the vehicle. Slow transmission shifts makes vehicle noise. Poor suspension. Your whole upper body moves when driving on local roads and making turns. This makes you completely exhausted. Sometimes it feels like vehicle is flipping over. Worst engine sound during initial pickup. When in traffic, it's hard to move vehicle slowly because it takes time to get vehicle to required speed and then it's hard to stop it immediately. The only good thing is It drives good on highway. There is nothing like better driving dynamics with Mazda with above issues. Wish I could have bought a CRV or RAV4. I really understood why these are the best selling vehicles in USA. Because they are practical.

The cx5 is all that a person could ask for from an suv. It’s roomy, has high quality appointments, and great drivability. First 1000 miles got 28 mpg. Highly recommend for a daily driver.

What an improvement over the 2020 CX5. The app gives me remote start and notifies me when the car is unlocked or lights left on. The screen can be a touch screen. Ride remains comfortable, gas mileage is acceptable and it looks great.

Bought my wife the CX-5 (red of course) for Valentine's Day from Flow Mazda in Charlottesville. Great deal, excellent service from Jenny Larew and associates, all the safety I want for her and all the comfort and style she demands. It made my wife's day and our best Valentines gift in 45 years!
