A thing of beauty
I am not really into righting reviews, but I love this car. It is perfect for me. It has great gas mileage, fantastic looks, and has a comfortable sweet ride. Holy Cow! Did I say reasonably priced? This is the best car in its class hands down. It gets the same gas mileage with a 2.5 liter engine that my old Honda Civic got with a 1.7 liter engine! What I like most about the Mazda 6 is its smooth acceleration. Most cars lurch or surge when pressing on the gas. Not the Mazda 6. It smoothly and competently accelerates. And I challenge you to feel the transmission shift. It is a thing of beauty. The transmission shifts fluidly like a diver making the perfect dive... not a ripple.
This is one great car. Better than expected.
This is the best car buying decision I think I made. Stunning looks, solid build quality, good visibility, excellent handling and road feel, best steering feel I ever experienced. Have put on about 800 miles, getting 30 mpg (70% city). The ride and road feel is getting better every day as it is breaking in. Power and acceleration is quite good for 4 cyl, better than the Altima/Camry/Outback/Malibu I test drove. Hill start assist is a useful feature. I did not notice any significant road noise as some have mentioned. Gear shift is well tuned for optimum acceleration and fuel efficiency. Touch screen size is good enough, intutive and works well, no problem pairing BT phone.

Could be great but few issues mar the experience
Got it about a month ago; put 1500 miles so far. Nice-looking, spacious, comfortable interior. Has been averaging 33 mpg (mostly highway on weekends, in-traffic during the week). Decent audio with Tech Package. Mediocre TomTom GPS. Very buggy infotainment system; visiting dealer for the second repair. First was the Bluetooth/USB/Phone dying completely - was "fixed" by unplugging the battery, so the bug is still there and who knows when it's going to strike again. Second - one of the buttons on the "joystick" control got stuck making it unusable. But the biggest issue -serious road and wind noise at highway speeds. Make sure to test drive it at 65-75 m/h if you plan to drive on highways a lot
Expensive to maintain
When my car was just a year old the air quit. Had to take it in three times before getting it repaired. MY BSM blind spot monitoring quit at around 18 months. $1300 to fix. This week I discovered that the finish on my "premium rims" is peeling off. Very disappointed in the car. Maintaining the things that go wrong are expensive. The only thing left working on my technology package is the garage door opener. Found out there was a defect on the factory finish for my rims and Mazda did not do a recall. I inquired about my rims every time I went in for service. Finally after I hit the 100k mile mark they admit to the defect but won’t do anything about mine because it has over 100k. I will never buy another Mazda.

Mazda 6 GT - It doesnt get better than this at $30k
Our trusty 2000 Subaru Legacy GT finally needed to be put down... It was a tragic day for us since we loved this car to death... literally. The good news is that we chose the new Mazda6 Grand Touring with the advanced cruise control and forward obstruction warning package. This badboy came loaded and dressed to the nines with it's super slick (rotary inspired) 19" wheels. While it lacks the superior handling of symetrical all wheel drive and the low rev torque that our Legacy had, the Mazda6 handles the twisties and real life conditions with superb grace. It's a far smoother and refined machine compared to the Subaru. Everything about this car is just tight and mechanically perfect.
