My Atomic Silver Ride!

2020 Lexus RX 450h F SPORT Performance 4dr SUV AWD (3.5L 6cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

I graduated from a 2017 RX 350 to the 2020 RX 450h Performance F Sport and love it! I love the feel and sound when I put it in Sport mode, but most of the time I keep it in Eco Mode for improved mileage. In Sport mode the gas pedal is soft, whereas in Eco mode it seems as the pedal is harder to push, saving fuel? The car is very similar to my 2017 inside, except the speedometer area. There is no space under the back seats to stick my car wash rags or umbrella since the battery is in that area. (not a problem). The RX 450h has a smaller fuel tank then the RX 350 but I am getting around a 100 miles more between fill ups with the RX 450h. The only drawback is the RX 450h does require 93 octane which compared to an RX 350 that burns 87 octane there is only a slight cost savings on fuel. Currently I am getting exactly what the estimated mileage on the sticker says....

This is an incredibly well constructed and well composed SUV. It is exactly what you think it should be. There are no surprises. The CVT coupled with the Hybrid System provides adequate and smooth power. The ride is very comfortable. It’s heavy and well made yet fairly agile for a car this size. Lexus has done a very good job with this car. You would be hard pressed to find anything negative about the vehicle. There are obviously certain aspects of the car that might not be ‘as nice’ as other competitors in the segment but on average this Car does everything very well. Highly recommend.

Get f sport version if possible

Aries, 01/02/2020

I did very intensive test drive comparing the non f sport and f sport. If possible, please get f sport. The f sport suspension turned grandma's 450h into a car like SUV. The eco and normal mode completely isolate you from the northcal crappy road condition. On the other hand, sport+ mode controls body roll really well, and the performance is very similar as my 2016 IS f sport. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase!

Beauty, quiet, great handling, beautifully displayed controls with an impeccable interior quality and design. Add a MPG with constant in city driving of 29 and all around luxury-- you have a auto beyond compare to anything on the road. Nothing comes close. I drove them all--- this Lexus RX450h pulls away as the total champ.

I've really enjoyed this car so far

The seemless shifting (what feels like no shifting) b/t gears is pretty cool, and now I feel I could never go back to a non-sports car w/ pronounced shifting. The seats and leather are as comfortable as I've come to expect from Lexus. I like the data screen that shows how the vehicle is being powered at any moment, be it the engine or the electric motors, or both, and when the batteries are being charged. In my last Lexus the manual shifting was accomplished via the gear stick, so the paddle shifters are a neat thing to me, though I don't use them much. I thought I would use CarPlay more. I enjoy using Google Maps via CarPlay, but otherwise prefer using my device by bluetooth and utilizing the large 12.3" screen's split screen capabilities for the Lexus nav map & music or map & engine data, etc. Maybe CarPlay can also do split screen and I haven't figured it out yet. I looked seriously at the Audi Q5. The seats felt uncomfortable, the leather wasn't as supple, and lacked a feeling of luxury throughout via the feel of the dash, the buttons, the trim, etc. BUT it was fun to hit the accelerator.

This is a beautiful suv!! Lexus has definitely put out a quality vehicle. However it’s cargo space is limited and it’s overall back seat space is that as well. The new designed front grill is far superior to older models and was the selling point for me. I wish I could get better acceleration possibly more power from this engine but it’s not to say everything about this suv is quality.

My husband and I were stopped due to backed up traffic on the freeway. We got plowed into by a car traveling approx 60 mph pushing us into a large van. The impact was so hard the large van was pushed into the back of a diesel truck. All airbags deployed in our car pretty much I believe. We were both hurt but mostly severe bruising, cuts and soft tissue injuries. But we are alive! My car is totaled but will replace with another Lexus RX for sure.

Love it but fuel economy is not what they say

I have had a 2019 Lexus RX 450h for 2 1/2 years on lease. It's up next March and I'm trying to decide to either buy it or turn it in. Because of Covid, I only have 20K miles on it and will likely be much lower than the 30K limit when I turn it in. I love this car. I baby it! I'm just very frustrated with the lack of fuel economy that I get. It's advertised 28/31 and if I get 27, I'm LUCKY. I'm also concerned with owning it longterm and having to replace the battery eventually. I hear it's expensive. It's very comfortable and luxurious. Some things are a bit tricky, like turning on and off the a/c. It's not just a button. You have to navigate on the screen to find the a/c and then click on it. Kind of a pain. Decisions, decisions...

I've had my 2020 Lexus RX450h for a year and it is a pleasure to drive. It has all of the accoutrements I waited for since purchasing my 2013 RX350. It has a bird’s eye view of the area surrounding the car, a touch screen monitor and a touch pad, many safety features like blind spot monitoring, lane and parking assist. It has triple head beams with cornering lighting and automatic high beam control. I wish I had added the heads-up display option, but I do enjoy the hands-free-leg-kick to open the tailgate option. The heated/AC seat option is very nice when needed!

This is our second Lexus. It’s attractive, very comfortable and easy to drive. The hybrid gesture allows drive locally almost full time on the battery. My major concern is the plethora of features that serve to confuse rather than help. As the owner of 4 cars it would be much better if there was better organization of the features and a method of easily eliminating the ones I don’t want or need. Serious radio is an example. I don’t want it but it pops um in the mode key. After driving and enjoying it for almost a year, we read a review by Edmunds of the Toyota Rav 4 plug in hybrid and wish we had waited for it. With 42 miles all electric, most of our daily drives would be all electric, but with the comfort of no range anxiety for long trips between Texas and Minnesota. After driving the Rav 4, the comfort isn’t close to the Lexus so we will stay with Lexus UPDATE: Love the car. It is a great combination of AWD and hybrid power. We average 28-34 MPG. Its interior is smaller than others we’ve had. Like Grand cherokees, X-5, and Highlanders. I don’t like the plethora of electronics that pop up on the screen. Some are annoying and unexpected. Booking up a boat trailer and backing up results in a bone charting stop because the Smart Camera detected the trailer and breaked . Just one of many things you must learn work arounds. Problem is this car is one of 4 in our household and each has a different menu. And pushing the wrong button can inadvertently change the radio station, call 911, or reset the system. With 60,000 miles it’s been very dependable. Only expense was tires and filters. Did have a very poor service experience at Park Place Lexus in Grapevine TX. They performed a 4 wheel alignment I didn’t need.

traded in my cadillac 2017 escalade..different class of car. Yet it was a good move..its smooth..fast but takes a little time to get there..good looking...interior is classy. normal mode is good yet if you want to play...go into sport m,ode...jumping on the highway from a street standstill you want to start in sport mode and after your are getting up to speed go back into normal mode. From that point on you got a comfortable ride. auto lights are cool also, breaking is good. im satisified..just need more speed and better gas mileage. also its a littlre pricey. good luck

The RX 450h F Sport has really comfortable seats good handling and Amazing MPG. I do a city freeway combo daily and don’t drive like a bat out of hell and average 25 mpg. I think is good for such a heavy vehicle on 20’inch stock wheels, I went from a CT200H to this and can’t complain other than the CT had real good MPG.

Used old Gen09 Navigation System (Can't be upgraded to Gen10 even you want to pay) and not eligible for Carplay upgrade. Make this car useless for daily commute without real time traffics. BTW, Lexus has no plan to make it right for the owners even with the resource and technical know-how. So you are stuck with this for as long as you own this model.

Best car I have ever owned traded in my 2016 Audi S6 since they offered me 36500 dollars last year I was offered 26000 dollars.the Audi starts costing too much to maintain.the Audi S6 was my dream car so I bought it new, custom ordered it took 63 days till I received it.it was my splurge when I retired.a lot of fun to drive but not practical in the long term.don’t go pass the 4 year warranty.I would have updated to a new model but I didn’t like that they went to 2 screens & eliminated a lot of the buttons.also if I am going to upgrade to the bang & Olufsen music system for 5000 dollars I want a CD player to play my own music.Audi eliminated the CD player.I have 2000 CD in my collection.so it pissed me off I couldn’t play my own music if I am spending 80000 dollars for a car.so I am done with Audi.so I did my research and bought the Lexus RX 450h F sport.love how it drives and handles.most mainstream car critics don’t give it what it deserves.because it doesn’t do 3.5 seconds to 60 or you can’t carve it around the curves, etc….the Lexus RX 450h is a great car to drive and practical the ride is quiet due to double pane glass and great sound insulation.great reliability best selling mid size luxury crossover suv for more then 20 years.an excellent mark levinson music system that I can play my own CD music.the material quality is excellent & the craftsmanship inside rocks.check out Factory Made on YouTube on how they build the Lexus RX best manufacturing plant in the world the one in Canada & Japan.the car critics just rave about the German & the European cars & don’t give enough credit to the Japanese made cars.I also owned a 2007 Acura TL type S& a 2012 Acura TL 6 speed manual.fun cars to drive & cheap to own compared to the German & European cars.also owned a 1984 Honda CRX. I would never buy an American car as I owned a1989 jeep Cherokee & a 1974 Chevy nova.after about 4 years everything started to need replacement.the only downside when I ordered my Lexus RX 450h F sport I had to wait 3 months for it to be built & delivered.ordered the car on April 23,Lexus accepts the order.build date was July 6. On July 30 car was ready to be picked up at the dealership.best car dealership JM Lexus I have ever dealt with excellent customer service I ordered the car over the phone.3 months later I pick up the car and no surprises price was the same we agreed on over the phone.and a great price for my trade in.After owning a custom order Audi S6 for 5 years I traded it in for better reliability,CD player the Mark Levinson music system better trade in value down the road Audi no longer has a CD player even if you upgrade to the Bang & Olufsen for five thousand dollars.in my 4th year of audi s6 ownership my car was worth 26000 thousand dollars.in my 5th year of ownership my car was appraised at 36000 dollars so it was a no brainer to trade it in for a better quality vehicle .i love the Lexus RX 450h F Sport Handling package.love the high seating position.the quality of the materials is excellent the touch pad works great the car critics are always panning the touch pad I have no problem using it.Love that I can play my own CD music as I have 2000 cd in my collection.the Mark Levinson music system is excellent.love how the back seats can adjust position for my rear passengers.this vehicle is very practical and fun to drive.all the glass rejects UV light 100 percent even the windshield & front windows that don’t have the privacy dark glass.also the paint on the bottom panels is self healing against small scratches you might encounter at the car wash.the self healing paint will last about 8 years.Lexus has been making this car since 2006 so they have the hybrid system down.this is a very easy vehicle to live with on a daily basis.a great road cruiser & great around the city streets. After owning a custom order Audi S6 for 5 years I traded it in for better reliability,CD player the Mark Levinson music system better trade in value down the road Audi no longer has a CD player even if you upgrade to the Bang & Olufsen for five thousand dollars.in my 4th year of audi s6 ownership my car was worth 26000 thousand dollars.in my 5th year of ownership my car was appraised at 36000 dollars so it was a no brainer to trade it in for a better quality vehicle .i love the Lexus RX 450h F Sport Handling package.love the high seating position.the quality of the materials is excellent the touch pad works great the car critics are always panning the touch pad I have no problem using it.Love that I can play my own CD music as I have 2000 cd in my collection.the Mark Levinson music system is excellent.love how the back seats can adjust position for my rear passengers.this vehicle is very practical and fun to drive.all the glass rejects UV light 100 percent even the windshield & front windows that don’t have the privacy dark glass.also the paint on the bottom panels is self healing against small scratches you might encounter at the car wash.the self healing paint will last about 8 years.Lexus has been making this car since 2006 so they have the hybrid system down.this is a very easy vehicle to live with on a daily basis.a great road cruiser & great around the city streets. Wouldn’t buy again

Family guy, 06/15/2021

Bottom line: This car has many positives, but we never would buy again because the extremely raked front windshield causes two big problems. 1st, go for a test ride in the morning or evening going into the sun. On an even moderately warm day, the huge windshield creates an effect like sitting in a glass hothouse with a small AC unit blowing cold air on you-the air feels good, but your entire torso is being blasted by the sun. 2nd, the wide slanted pillars block pedestrians & side traffic to a dangerous extent. Another disqualifying feature is the engine. Why would anyone make a hybrid car that requires premium gas? Isn’t the idea to lower gas prices? I’ve read the reviews that say premium only costs 10c more. Not sure where they live-in CA it’s 40c. Most other positive attributes you’ve read are true. Great seats, sound system, awd, etc. They’ve done a great job of silencing the egg-beater engine. Sad to say, despite being a tech guy, I like the elegant tech interface.

Recently bought a 2021 RX450H and below are few comments: 1) Why is it marketed as "Heated steering wheel" when it is only partial area that is heated compared to competition where entire steering wheel is heated. Everyone hold steering wheel differently and it is false advertisement 2) The person who made the decision for having garage opener button on rear view mirror should be fired as that is the most poor design without any customer feedback. Every time the garage button is pushed the rear view mirror goes out of adjustment 3) Interior panels are made of cheap plastic when I compare with 2008 ES 350. One can tell the quality is greatly degraded 4) Touch lock button on door handles is in awkward location, Not where your fingers would normally fall like on the back side which they used to have before

We've owned several Lexus models and various brands of SUV's over the past 3 decades. We've had our 2019 RX 450h for just over a year, not one problem whatsoever, and in our opinion is the safest, most comfortable, smooth riding vehicle ever. The Mark Levinson audio system, pano sunroof, safety and other premium upgrades throughout take an already great SUV to the highest level. Test drive all of the similarly priced cars before making a decision...our feeling is this one will top your list.

I wish the navigation would be tough screen and it should be a button to push to turn on the cameras and it should have more embedded lights.

Poor sound system quality

The sound system does not produce the quality of sound that one would expect at this price point. It sounds like what I would expect in a Ford fiesta or Toyota Yaris. The Sirius radio frequently loses reception. This is not a signal problem as my wife's car radio does not lose signal in the same spots where the lexus does. Had I looked more closely at the sound system when considering purchasing the car I would have chosen something else.

We are able to get 32-33 mpg routinely in mixed driving. It’s a wonderful ride for an SUV and controls are mostly intuitive. You have to pay attention to the details though and I’d suggest taping the Dealers Nerd who goes through the tech details when you pick up the car. We had a difficult time backing up with a bike rack on the receiver. Hitting reverse resulted in an emergency stop. Fortunately it happened in business hours and I got advice from the dealer. Only downside for us it’s smaller than the less attractive Highlander it replace. UPDATE: It’s a beautiful car that gets excellent mileage for an SUV. In our suburban summer home area we get about 32-34 mpg around town. On extended highway driving the mileage is dependent on speed. In non hilly rural 60 MPH roads the mileage is about 29-30 mpg. At 80 mph, hilly country it falls to 23-24mpg. A few dislikes, you turn off the car open the door abandoned you get a message to turn of the lights, my 2015 Mercedes just turns them off. Same issue with fill ups the button is low on the dashboard and hard to see in the dark. Again my 2015 Mercedes has no button. When the car is stopped and unlocked the fuel door is unlocked. Lastly the cruise control and lane keeping is not very effective. Also had an unanticipated problem when I used it to pull my small boat trailer. When I tried to back up, the car braked abruptly. The hitch had been installed by the dealer but no one told me about this issue and how to remedy. So all day Sunday I made sure to not back up, And on Monday I called the dealer, asked to speak to one of the “Nerds”, the women responded “I’ll see if one is available”. A guy came on line and in 45 seconds gave me the work around. Punch line: I like the car, but would not buy a newer version without changes. I’ll start looking for a replacement next year and I hope to find a 6 cylinder plug in hybrid by Mercedes, certified used or new

I am enjoying my second Lexus experence. My first being the then new 1989 GS450. We were together for 20 pleasant years. The 2020 RX 450h with all the safety equipment that wasn't available in 1989 I stayed with Lexus. The RX450h is again a pleasure to drive and own, ah be it a very big boat.
