Reliably good car but terrible technology

This is my 4th LS. Besides the expected quality and reliability, this is a fun car to drive. Not as velvety as the prior 3, but smooth enough for the added driving experience. Seats and cabins are comfortable. Now to the horribly unreliable technology. The worst is the voice recognition. It's utterly worthless. The process to navigate through the various functions is dangerous because of the poor design, but it's flaky nature makes it even more dangerous. The climate control is awful. The foot under trunk sensor has worked twice and both times I didn't mean to make it work. Its never worked when I've tried. And the anti collision sensors are WAY to sensitive. I've pulled up to shrubs in a parking lot a little quick and the car unexpectedly slams on the breaks and sounds an alarm. Scares the crap out of you. If they could just dual in the technology the car would get a 5 from me

I have a LS 500 with luxury package and the noise from the inside of car was unbearable. Took it to dealership in Houston Sterling McCall Lexus and they informed me that the noise maybe the sunroof and they would need to break it down and charge me 1500 to see the problem. Now that extremely unheard and since it their flagship and with luxury package they should have done it to find out concerns with dual sunroof and the future problem with other models. Also it should be something covered under warranty since it structural concerns and not wear and tear. They refuse to do the job without charging me for the work.

"2018 Lexus LS 500 AWD Luxury"

I have had several Lexus LS series cars, and the 2018 LS 500 AWD is very nice however, the ride could be smoother especially considering I have air suspension. I also think the front headroom could be more, but it is adequate. Besides this the car seems very good but time will tell as far as the long term, reliability and maintenance cost are concerned but being a Lexus and the Flagship there should not be any major issues. I have not experienced the car in snow but being AWD snow should not be a problem, but I think the car would be better with a spare tire opposed to run flat tires but run flat tires seems to be where many luxury car manufactures are going now. The Mark Levinson Sound System is great as is the workmanship in general. As far as the V6 Twin Turbo engine is concerned it is ok but the V8 in the past LS 430 and LS 460 was much smoother and seemed to have more power even though the LS 500 is rated with more horsepower and torque. Lastly, a pre-owned 2018 Lexus LS 500 is a great value as was the case when it was new compared to other luxury cars from Mercedes, BMW and Audi.

Disappointing in style after the LS460

I don't like the looks (body style - the front grill, tail lights or the side). The wheels are nice(on the model I have). The car is uncomfortable to get in and out of (I'll be trading for SUV). At first I didn't like the dash but have gotten used to it. I still hate the "pigs ears"(those two switches to select the type of ride). I do love the giant 12"infotainment screen but hate that it's not touch screen. The interior is nice and comfortable. My model didn't come with Levinson sound and what's there is average. There was no carplay but Lexus was able to add it to my existing system. I wish the fuel door and trunk release were higher up and illuminated. I've had problems (which dealer has not been able to permanently fix) where the fuel door won't open when you press the button and it won't pry open. Gas mileage is great for this size of car and despite what Lexus says I have used regular (87) gas for my 66K's worth of miles. Run-flat tires are lousy and Lexus better go back to including a spare. The brand needs a complete redesign of this 500 (maybe a LS550 or something). Save your money and avoid this one.

I bought the LS 500.not completely understanding just how dangerous the technology package is. The design is so not user friendly. The tiny touchpad that is at gearshift level is extremely sensitive and not easy to navigate. I love the way the car drives, but this set up makes it NOT WORTH THE PURCHASE. Also I should hv gotten a voice command system w touchscreen at eye level. Looking down all the time is so Dangerous. Also my tire shredded literally at 3k miles . It took manufacture 6 months after that to recall all 4 tires. I was very scared to drive the car. When it happened I was going 80. The car swerved all over the highway. If there had been a car near me it most likely would hv been fatal. The absolute most terrifying experience I hv evr.been through. The dealer did reimburse me. I feel they should have replaced all the sorry ass runflats way sooner then they did. I drive all over us. Buying this lexus 500 LS has this far been a horrible DANGEROUS mistake . I also own a 460 LS that I hv 100k miles and still Love.
