Nice car, but disappointment
I've owned S500s, 7-series, A8s, and an LS 430. After my latest car ('04 S500), I decided to give Lexus another try with their new LS 460L. After owning the car for a few months now, I've come to realize why it is so much cheaper than its claimed competition (S550, A8L, 750Li.) The performance, attention to detail, driving technology advancement, luxury, and style is sub par when compared with the German makes. After switching between my wife's 745Li and this car, I definitely notice the small touches with the BMW that add up to huge diff. (i.e., driver oriented controls, smoother/wider power band, brakes that automatically dry themselves, power closing drs, etc.).
"PURSUIT OF PERFECTION"...less than (Z)EURO!!!
"Pursuit of Perfection" ????? It's all more marketing than actual truth & fact!!! I over-paided, foolishly trading-in a fabulous BMW in excellent condition with ALL OF THE FEATURES which this LS (top of the line model with rear luxury package) fell short of; what a HUGE REGRET!!! -- I'm sure one of the sales person's children is currently the fabulous BMW!!! Oh my, what a difference!! If you want wofty, not even anywhere near linear GM-Cadillac styled quality (or ANY SIMPLE LINEAR steering behavior -- constantly adjusting the steering wheel like a '75 Plymouth)!! on simple streets & highways, go for it as it got 29mpg on hwys, all the time, attracting every chip in the road. Mine had been refinished by the dealership with hidden fillers, which, upon 3-4 car washes, showed all of the true imperfections, which, of course, when it came time to trade it, had strikes against it. Had it been honestly represented, I NEVER would have offered such a price!!! Further, a MAJOR COSMETIC issue occurred, after a light rain the following 2nd day following taking delivery....., and the dealership attempted to, "share the burden of said repair", though, obviously, it was tacked-down with whatever glue they use when refurbishing. Moreover -- they're dealership extended warranty doesn't cover hidden, engineering defects; or anything of actual use, and even then, you have to pay a percentage -- expensive & simply useless!! And!! Go in for a simple oil change...you are required to pay for a full review of your vehicle (approx. $125.00), whereas, Mercedes & BMW provide such a complimentary inspection at no cost at their dealerships. "PURSUIT OF YOUR WALLET AND NOT PERFECTION" is more like it!!! Perhaps because individuals are willing to put up with such, along with the "Marketing", individuals think they're purchasing reliability -- you're still PAYING FOR IT. I never thought I would touch a Toyota product after my mother's endless issues with her Camry (LEXUS has same parts inside), though, here I was, and, guess what, it was worse than the expense of owning the most expensive Mercedes!! My recommendation: RUN!!!!!! FAST!!!!! BTW -- LEXUS is tacky now, and always ugly! Go purchase a REAL AUTOMOBILE, not a plastic one!!

3rd LS
This is my 3rd LS (previously had a 98 and 01). This is my favorite LS. It is quick, smooth and powerful. The Mark Levinson sound system is amazing.
