1995 Range Rover LWB County Classic
Land Rover owners are cut from a different cloth than most. You will need to be able to do more than the usual amount of maintence, but if you want a vehicle to be totally nonresponsive, quiet, reliable, boring, then go elsewhere. These trucks are for enthusiasts. They are awesome on and off road.Love it or hate it, it gets in your blood and will stay there forever. The classic has the body style to die for and the lwb (large wallet base) is sheer joy for its limo backseat space. I bought mine and now the wife drives it. 'Nuff said.
Poor Reliability/Expensive repairs
We purchased a 1996 Range Rover 4.0 in Jan. 2000. The sensors regularly need replaced. At 50,000 miles we had to replace the fuel pump. At 60,000 miles we had all hell break loose with one problem after another--the auto-dimming rear view mirror began to cloud-up and the liquid chemical in it began to leak and dripped on the dash board and ate away some of the dashboard. I'm serious. Then the driver's side window quit working one day. The left turn signal works when it wants to. Lots of electrical problems. Without warning, the engine blew at 62,000 miles. In one year we spent $7,000 in repairs- OUCH!

Own a life sized exterior paper weight!
The truck looks like a dream, but runs like a nightmare. The EAS system is a joke, the engine is as fragile as a crystal glass. I've had to change the head gasket within 2 months of owning the truck, to only have the engine crack while warming it up in the winter time. For an engine to crack while trying to warm it up is a disgrace!
1995 Land Rover Range Rover LWB
My father originally purchased this car for himself, but gave it to me for my 18th birthday, and let me tell you what a blast this car is. It is one of those cars that set one apart from the rest, whether its blasting your friends in a friendly off-roading excursion (yes i do take it into the wild frontier), or crusing on a friday with a full car, I love driving it. The killer stock sound system was surprising, and I love both the awe factor and functionality of the air springs. The only bummer with it is the killer gas milage, but thats what anyone with an SUV should expect.
Looking For a New One!
Purchased new, this vehicle has been enjoyable to drive but at a price! Those shy to maintenance should avoid this SUV. My extended warrany more than paid for itself. I would hightly recommend one for any hight end SUV. Rust on the bonnet and tailgate need to be checked regularly as well as front brakes. Fluid leaks were a problem early on but were successfully fixed 5 yrs ago. Rear seat room is tight and rear door handles are tricky to reach. I wish I got the LWB instead but this is great truck none the less. I'm looking for a 2003 Range Rover now!
