Used 2017 Jeep Patriot Consumer Reviews
Not Worth It
So I got a 2017 used Jeep Patriot. It was in really good condition and it was priced attractively so I took the plunge. Little did I know the troubles it would bring me, particularly in the snowy British Columbian winters. The vehicle's traction control is mediocre and does little to assist the vehicle. Its traction, even with good tires, is minimal at best. The problem is that the car is very light in the back so you will probably be slipping and sliding anywhere there is more than 6 inches of snow. The engine is sluggish. Acceleration is very slow. Cheap build quality. If you've had the pleasure of driving in a better SUV like a Honda or a Ford, and you compare those to the build quality of a Jeep Patriot 2017, it's obvious that Jeep cut a lot of corners. The vehicle just feels light and cheap compared to a Honda or a Ford or anything else. It has a very low centre, so don't take this vehicle off-roading. A foot of snow or ruts on a dirt road will immobilize the Jeep. However, some of the good things I can say are that it has no problem starting in the cold. It starts in -25 to -35C reliably. It has a fair bit of space in the back with foldable rear seats. The heat and AC system works better than any other vehicle I've tried; it kicks in very quickly. If you buy the standard drive, the clutch is very forgiving and smooth, very hard to stall. Final Verdict: Don't be fooled by the marketing. This is not a rugged off-roading vehicle. However, if you are a city commuter or someone that just needs a car that goes from point A to point B, take the plunge by all means. Just be warned that this vehicle does not function well in environments with low traction.

Never Going Back!
What a bad ass car! The thing is a beast, I absolutely love my Jeep! I've had 6 different cars in my life before this one, and all of them were Chevy's. I'm never looking back. Jeep is my forever car! UPDATE : 07/22/19 Still loving my Jeep - It runs great. The 4x4 is incredible in that heavy Chicago snow storms. Runs smoothly during rain. Recently, had flooding in my neighborhood and it was nice not to have to worry about flooding my vehicle. I travel a lot - so taking this vehicle on the road you really get to open her up. I wouldn't race in this thing, but the performance is spectacular. I like this vehicle because I can still ride like I am in a Jeep, but have the luxury of driving a smooth running vehicle. Plenty of space for transporting, I actually got a 65 inch tv to fit in the trunk. The color is magnificent. I see a lot of people driving the Patriot's, so I am disappointed that this model is discontinued after my year. The Jeep brand will keep me coming back just because of the performance alone. Super reliable and comfortable. The only downfall with my travel is the gas prices - this is not a car that has the BEST gas mileage. It's a smaller gas tank than my last vehicle, but I can get a good 300 miles before the gas tank is empty. Overall, I really love the Patriot.
