Redjee lives forever
I was given this Cherokee as as gift. My friend thought it had as bad rod but I found the torque converter was loose. I tightened it up and now have 481,000 mile on him. He is my daily driver. I own a 1989 Cherokee and a 2008 Grand Cherokee both those my wife drives. I also have two Grand Wagoneers, full size, we won't own anything else, thank you. As of June 2019 I have 495,000 on this Cherokee. As of December 11 2019 I have 498,125 miles on this Jeep. Redjee still is my daily driver. I haven't changed anything except for the usual things like the alternator, water pump, brakes and such. I have been a firm believer of changing oil at 3,000 miles. My daughter makes me change her oil and filter at 3,000 miles religiously. She has a Jeep Liberty. Check in on me after a half million miles and I'll give a compression reading for you. Thanx. Well Redjee has 507,000 miles on him and still running strong! It's now June 2021. Did not do a compression test yet but why bother? He's still stompin asphalt. I haven't replaced anything since 2019.

Bullet Proof
Bought my Cherokee back in October 1991 and 17 years later I still enjoy driving it. Took my honeymoon in it to Colorado, I brought my 3 kids home in it from the hospital and countless fishing trips were taken in it. Three years ago, I gave her a fresh coat of paint. My wife can't understand why I continue to keep driving it, but she isn't a Jeep owner. Low maintenance, drives like a tank in the snow and runs smooth. Today, I still see early 90s Cherokees on the road and they are either great looking or beaten up.
Love these Jeeps
I have to say, that I have owned some nice cars in the past, but I would be happy to trade all the creature comforts of the higher priced cars just for the reliability of this jeep. The 4.0 has enough power to get over/around what I need it to, when minor repairs are needed they are easy and don't cost much... Not many vehicles can be driven over 220,000 miles and still look forward to a long life to come. THIS ONE CAN!
Reliable SUV
I've owned this car for 11 years. The only significant repair was a radiator at 115,000 miles ($800). This has been an excellent vehicle from a reliability standpoint. With the 6 cylinder engine, power is adequate. My only issue is that it rides like an SUV (bouncy ride), but rides great on the freeway. There is exceptional interior space for passengers and cargo, especially considering its short wheel base (which makes it easy to park). It also has a strong a/c. From speaking with other owners (1991 model year), the '91 is either very reliable or constantly in need of repairs. The bad ones are mostly off the road by now. Most 1991's still on the road are likely good cars.
