Great Car With Imperfections

I own a 2006 Hyundai Tiburon 2.0L with a 5 Speed Manual Transmission and I completely fell in love with it. Although it's not a very quick car, it is a fun car to drive. The looks on this car are very sporty and beautiful. I did feel the interior quiet cheap. The stock spoiler is plastic so the paint starts to fade away. One common thing about this car is 2nd gear. 2nd gear has a problem with getting into and most times grinds. I eventually had it fixed by adjusting the clutch. Another poor thing is the clutch. The clutch doesn't last very long. I found myself getting stuck in 5th gear and Reverse. Clutch does have a good feeling to it. Not too heavy, not too light. Another thing I found was the electronics are not reliable. This car has a button as if it was to open a window that was used to open the trunk. The trunk did not open unfortunately so I had to open it with the key. Comfortability was okay. I found myself getting pain in my back when I drove pretty far. I am 5'11 and I fit pretty well but I could feel my hair slightly touch the ceiling. When I sit in the back, I find myself having to put my legs up on all seats to be comfortable. The cup holders are in the way of your elbow when shifting. That was one of the things I hated about this car. The trunk space is good. I could carry my soccer bag, school backpack, and my instruments pretty well in it. The brakes are not very well done. When I would brake at times, I could feel my brake pedal stuttering. The headlights do not light up the road pretty good. I would have to use to foglights for more vision. I'm not sure if it was the aftermarket lights or if it is also on the stock headlights. Lastly, I could say this car holds up pretty well during wrecks. I recently got into a 2 impact wreck that destroyed my car. I came out with minor injuries. I came out with slight pain. One thing I noticed were that the airbags did not deploy. I did not hit my head during the wreck. Overall, this car is great and amazing to drive, but very cheap.

"Yeah right.. a HYUNDAI.." or at least that's what I thought when I was ready to buy a new car. My Ford died at 84,000 miles so I traded it in for $4,000 looking at the Civic Si, Eclipse, WRX, tC, RSX, and a few others. Loved my stepsister's 06 Sonata so decided to give Hyundai a try. I never thought I'd own a Korean car, but this one is perfect. My car had to have auto climate, V6 (or similar) refinement, leather, moon roof, and premium sound. That pretty much knocked everything out but the Tiburon, Eclipse, and RSX. Minor complaints, but no regrets. This was the best car by far. Firm but not harsh, comfortable but not boring, feels like our 06 C280 in terms of driving feel. Love it.

If you want a great sportscar for a GREAT price....this is it! I get more compliments on the style of this car. The car performs great! My only complaint is the armrest in the middle console could be a little higher to rest your arm on. Seats are a bit stiff, but keeps you on your toes. You just want to get in this car and drive it! Great warranty! Very worth the money!

i recently purchased in GS in July and was very satified with it, beings the fact i am only 16. i really wanted to get the v6 so i could keep up with my friends who own VW GTI VR6s. But insurance was crazy for me. The interior is very nice, more comfortable than any honda or mazda i have been in.

Since the first time I saw a Tiburon, I wanted one. Finally, in 2009, I purchased one. It was the first sporty car I'd ever owned and I loved the low slung design. Unfortunately, after I drove it for a few months, I started to have trouble getting out of the door. Back problems soon followed. So I gave the car to my husband who loves it. I think I would have had the same back problems no matter what low-to-the ground car I had driven; it has nothing really to do with the Tiburon. When it reached 58,000 miles it suddenly stopped dead on the street. Fortunately, we were still within the warranty period (barely) and ended up getting a completely new engine under the warranty!

I have really enjoyed driving my Tiburon for the last year. My husband and I just drove it to Texas for vacation in July and found it to be comfortable even on the 18-hour drive. We were really surprised and will be driving it on all our trips in the future.

Bought a 2006 Hyundai Tiburon in 2007 with 9k on the odometer. Ran fine at first. Less than a year later, O2 sensor went out. Replaced that, a week later another, replaced it, a week later another... replaced it, a week later guess what. This thing eats tires despite the fact that the alignment is good. The wear is even across the tire but we get less than 16k out of 30k tires. Have replaced the brakes, Sunroof no longer works, lock motor on driver side door went out, radiator hose started leaking at the thermostat housing, replaced the hose clamp and fixed it, a few days ago the radiator cracked in a spot that I still can't explain why.... Buy a Pinto your repair bills will be cheaper.

This car is an owners nightmare. Yes, its fun to drive, but so far, the compressor, engine, and stick shift has blown , all under 30k miles. I have never recieved such horrible service than at ALL of the hyundai dealreships ive been to. All this, and Ive already has a LEMON tiburon before the one Icurrently own. I brought the dealership to court and they gave me another peice of crap in return. Ill never buy a hyundai again. Whats the chance that you get 2 BAD cars of the same make/model from 2 different states? Slim. I doubt its a coincidence.

I had owned a Sonata prior to picking out a brand new Tiburon GT in March of 2007. At just under 19K miles the clutch and flywheel went out on me. Hyundai would not cover this under warranty and dismissed the transmission failure as though I did not know how to drive a manual transmission. The wheel bearings went out on 3 separate occasions as well. The V6 is thirsty resulting in low MPG. Horrible under-steer. Some tricky blind spots until you get use to it. Hyundai's also have crummy resale value. Overall the car is fun to drive, however I highly encourage an extended warranty.
