Great Car
Bought at end of August 2011. Have 10,000 miles on it now, No problems yet. Love the exterior design. Interior design is very nice. When the weather was still warm I was getting 37 MPG on the highway, and 27 MPG around town. As all cars do,the MPG have dropped off in the cold weather. One of the best new cars I have ever bought. Just wish I knew where the dip stick is located to check the automatic transmission fluid was located.
Think twice
Cheap plastic on some of the interior controls. Scratch very easily. Also, the black paint that was painted on some surfaces starts to come off after a few years. Poor trade in value. The turbo 2.0 engine is great however. Lots of power when you need it or just want to play. But, the engine and road noise are very loud. On some roads you literally have to shout to be heard. Not fun for long trips.

Good on paper, not great in practice
Pros: very spacious, huge trunk, very good gas mileage for it's size (easily 34-5 highway), engine runs smooth and has enough power for the job. Cheap Cons: build quality and material quality is poor. The interior started deteriorating at 50k miles. The aux jack is broken, the cruise control only sort of works, the finish on the steering wheel is peeling off. Many of the parts seem more prone to rust than they should be. There is a small rubber part in the steering that is prone to failure, resulting in clunky and loose steering. Numerous recalls, every time I get one fixed it seems like I get another notice in the mail. Overall this car could have been great but all of the good features are held back by overall poor quality.

All in all very nice car for $$
I have owned a Lexus, Acura and Volvo. This car compares to the Japanese luxury brands as far as the drive. It is very smooth feeling and saves gas. Great price!!! It doesn't drive like the Volvo did in its good days. I really only missing my sunroof. I upgraded to leather and alloy wheels. You should too the cloth seats are cheapish and kinda hard to me. The ride is very loud and rough with stee The passenger side seat is kinda low to the ground. The gadgets on the car are nice. Everything wraps around the driver which is NICE and luxurious. The backseat and trunk are very spacious! Way more exciting than the Honda Accord or Altima- BORING. I do like this car only time will tell if it lasts
Solid mid-size contender for commuting
If you want to buy a good car for daily commuting, you cant do much better than this Sonata. Reliable, fuel efficient and pretty cheap to operate makes this an easy choice. We bought this car new in 2012 and currently have just over 62000 miles on it. This is the base GLS with only 3 options - most if not all of the important features you need are standard. I'd recommend this Sonata to anyone needing a good, reliable, commuter car. Build quality is excellent and has been a very reliable, inexpensive car to operate. Only one warranty repair has been needed in 62000 miles and that was for a faulty cruise control switch which was repaired under warranty.
