Would not buy again if given the chance

Multiple recalls and several mechanical issues later, I am very disatisfied with this car. It handles poorly and has been very unreliable. To me, its spaciousness and affordability are the only positives. I will not be returning to Hyundai for my next vehicle.

Sonata SE 2012

Sonata model, in general, is really nice. Exterior as well as interior design are probably one of the best out there for the sedans. SE has a bit more aesthetic aspects than the GLS (chrome grills, door handles, dual exhausts, tire, etc). The comfort level of SE is sub par. Noise level during the ride is also quite annoying. These are due to the sporty suspension and less-cushion tires, but they shouldn't be the excuses for these crucial aspects of the car. If you can live up with this, it's an amazing car. If you think you and your family rather like a quieter and comfortable car, go with GLS or Limited. I thought the SE wouldn't have much of a difference, but it really does.

Handles great, it is very responsive, it takes off like a sports car and accelerates very fast, looks great, brakes very well. I have had no issues except regular maintenance. I would give the Hyundai Sonata a 8.9 out of 10

Think twice

Cheap plastic on some of the interior controls. Scratch very easily. Also, the black paint that was painted on some surfaces starts to come off after a few years. Poor trade in value. The turbo 2.0 engine is great however. Lots of power when you need it or just want to play. But, the engine and road noise are very loud. On some roads you literally have to shout to be heard. Not fun for long trips.

I will never buy a Hyundai Sonata again. From the first month I own the car, it has been in out of the dealer twice a month. The greatest problem has been the engine, currently waiting for a replacement engine, then the tall lights and can't forget the front end problems.
