Best car I've ever owned
easy entry/exit. great visibility, good drivetrain combo, but could use a little more power. logical and easy to use controls, versatile interior appointments (2 tiered console, useful door and seat pockets). has been low maintenance; outside of routine maintenance (tires, brakes, tune-ups and fluid changes) the only repair has been front wheel bearings..., oh yeah, I've got 198,000 miles as of this writing, in 2-1/2 years. I am a delivery agent for UPS doing interstate computer parts deliveries, and this car has been just about flawless. kudos hyundai!!!
BEWARE....FALLING APART
Beware...this car is falling apart. Im reading all of the reviews and how happy owners are about their Sonatas. I am extremely UNHAPPY. I just took it into the dealer and it will cost me approximately $2000 to repair. The airbag light won't go off and cost $481 to fix-not covered under warranty. How is a safety device not covered under warrenty? They said they'are not sure why a belt is making all of this noise but they will have to take the engine apart which with permission is oveer $280 and then I need to replace the timing belt and any other parts. They said they can't diagnose the problem without doing all of this work. I still owe $10000 on this piece of junk!
Not bad, but could be much better
I have only driven the car 1,000 miles. Miles per gallon are 12.8 on my last fillup. I have the LX-6 Cylinders. Car handles well and it is quite comfortable, exterior design is very striking and modern. Interior design is quite pleasing and ergonomically correct. Cannot attest to reliability since the car has only 1,000 miles.
Great value for the money!
I have driven this car since September and there are just a couple things that I am not happy with: Miles per gallon- The sticker idicated 19 City/27 Hwy and I have barely averaged 20 MPG on mostly highway trips the car now has 7,500 miles; I took it to the dealer after 1,000 miles was averaging 12.8 MPG. The automatic transmission lags on emergency acceleration - I will have the dealer check it at the next service. The 4 speed transmission is adequate in city traffic, but should have overdrive for higher speeds.
Sonata Soars
We love this car. I have 2 young boys 8 & 4 and they love to go for a ride in this car. It has good sight lines when driving. It is very comfortable for me (6'4" 250 lbs.) to drive as well as my wife 5'2". We will definately look at future products from this company as time comes to replace our other vehicles. It has a great warranty too.
