Long time Hyundai buyer.
Having bought or purchased about 12 thus far, I appreciate their value and features for the money. We picked up our new 2022 Elantra SEL last evening. Coming down from a 2020 Santa Fe there are some significant differences, as one would expect. Roominess is fine for leg room but that comes after one wedges one into the cabin. I banged my head just after it was delivered to me. I am tall so I have over the years gotten used to that. Squatting down to get into a car is probably what has led so many to SUVs. But we don’t drive that much any more and it was hard to justify the cost of the larger SUV. The engine, transmission seem more than adequate. The handing is superb. The safety features and other features are outstanding. The ground clearance is concerning, and has three less inches than our previous Santa Fe. The interior is disappointing. Too much hard plastic. I don’t get it. Styling may be too futuristic for my old eyes. But that is just me. Neither a knock or praise. Purely subjective, Let me throw a curve ball for anyone interested. If it were solely up to me, I would have gotten the Accent Limited. But my wife insisted on all the safety equipment. As the saying goes, happy wife, happy life. Finally, Hyundai, please fix the cheap plastic interior. I’m not alone. I would expect the lower level Accent to cut corners but not the bread and butter mainline sedan. The Sonata has ceded the sedan segment to the Elantra by virtue of the huge price differential. Many people may not agree but this is the 44th new vehicle I have bought or leased. If only as much attention had been given to the interior as the exterior they could mop up their rivals. If only, if only…..

Is proving to be an very good car.
Preferred model (base heating controls, but heated leather steering wheel instead) I have had Honda and then moved to Dodge/Chrysler cars including a bunch of Neons (BMW engineered the engines in them). This one has been very quick, quiet, full of working technology that is improving and keep an eye on me - proved I'm not as good of driver as I thought. Wonderfully comfortable and the slanted gauges (toward driver) and the separation bar have proven to be fantastic (certainly for the driver). Gas mileage in my petrol only model is shockingly good 5.3L/100km city 7.9L/100km winter (in my case, normal mode). Smooth, quiet interior that feels (and is) very large and open - back seat is a tad boring but comfortable with lots of space. Trunk is also enormous - bigger than many compact SUV they say and easier to load (not as tall of course). Hard plastics are common but they use really interesting mixed textures - so they look nice and are a surprise to touch and find they are hard. My "air" defrost (they offer the elements in the windshield) work really well, and I keep it rotated between the two defrost modes for winter. The safety and details like rust/stone protection is very good too. This model has the camera and not the radar on the front (on the rear sides it does). They have proven just fantastic and have both been good "at watching me" but also made me a better driver by ringing bells and alerts until I recognized and corrected mistakes I was not aware of. Just packed full of so many safety features (include a STRONG roof - Hyundai or Kia had an ad with a bunch of cars on top of each other to show they recognized how important roof strength is). I am also impressed - the rear hump; the salesperson said that came from the platform being made for an SUV - and it could have been made flat but was not as strong; so they kept it in. The cross path is a surprise (like gas mileage) I just love it as I no longer need to rely on "the Force" to tell me when someone is zooming past (don't they see the reverse lights?) when backing up. The lane keep and warning if someone is beside or in the lane I'm wanting to move too - I wonder how was driving without them. If you look at the engine etc - you can see quality mountings and the engine is floating so it will move properly in a collision. Zero rattles an noise (stunning) SO very quiet, first car I can listen to the radio without it being annoyingly loud .. also this platform is just stellar .. it drives so nice .. does not come across like my Civic or Neons at all .. just endlessly confident control with no "drama unfolding". I could be zipping around and the person in the back if a sleep would not know it. Great brakes (first car with ABS), just a pleasure to drive. The iVT .. it has been a big surprise (considered a Jetta for its real auto .. but too expensive); it protects itself at launch (depowers) but once off the line you have ample power and its simulated gear changes are quick and reliable ... I have noticed it will engine brake somewhat which is a critical bonus in winter as it keeps you off the brakes more for planned stops. STYLING - "everyone" told the the exterior was oh so wrong - so, I saw no problem when buying it except I knew it was hard to do that with metal (impressive). Upon washing and being with it - it very quickly was apparent it is stunning from all angles, the sides "suck in" so you are farther away (door dings should be less) much like racecars - you can see it from the back where the rear glass in inside the outer edges by gosh 4" (the door handles are almost hidden in). The wide back reminds me of like the back of a Honda NSF. Just endlessly interesting to look at to be impressed. SUMMARY - absolute would recommend over the other excellent cars I looked at - Corolla (sedan), Sentra, Jetta, Forte (older platform), new Civic was just out and many $1000 more (much like the Jetta Highline). Highly contented, great gas mileage, high safety, and pretty large actually (107" wheelbase). OTHER MODELS - the Hybrid - very tempting just they are usually sold out. The N-Line, you get the dual clutch (real trans) and turbo (200hp instead of 148hp) if you want for a normal Civic/Jetta price. Both of these also have the "true" independent rear suspension as well.

New '22 Elantra SEL w/convenience package
Got the blue Elantra SEL with dark rims and it looks excellent. Got 41+ mpg driving home. Digital display with three setting is cool and the wireless charger is a hit with the kids. Hard to part with my 2012 Elantra GLS with 163,500 miles that still runs great.

2022 Elantra SEL - Convenience & Premium Packages
What I like…..and there is a lot on this Upgraded SEL: Exterior styling is unique and eye catching, Love the black on black interior with Electric Shadow exterior, Full 10.25” Digital Color LCD Gage Cluster that change with driving mode, Color LCD Infotainment Touch Screen Display, 3 Mode push button IVT transmission selections, Lane departure steering correction gently moves you back into lane, blind spot notification in side mirrors when cars from behind passing on highway, Side mirror turn signals, Larger 17” wheels and upscale alloys, “THE BOSE SOUND SYSTEM”!!!!, “Wireless” Apple Car Play with Wireless charging….no more cords!!!, Rear passenger legroom longer than Sonata, Hyundai Warranty cannot be beat! Blue Link free for 3 years, Roadside Assistance FREE for 5 years….tow, jump, gas, trip interruption, etc….no need for AAA, Free Sirius XM for 3 months. Driving: Excellent steering response, nice and tight, no issue with merge speed-ups on short highway entries….select Sport Mode for quicker speed increase, Low RPM’s at highway speeds….that’s how it gets 41+MPG Highway, Not luxury car interior quiet but not noisy either…easily hold conversations, Things Hyundai should have “included” with the Convenience & Premium Package: LED Headlights vs Halogen Projectors, Halogens seem adequate, but LED’s would be way better. The Limited Elantra version gets the LED headlights, All interior, trunk, and exterior lights and turn signals should be LED and “not” filament lightbulbs!!! Overall: IMO this car as outfitted is the best bang for the buck in its class. The hi-tech features, warranty and excellent MPG separate it from the pack. With Covid… Toyotas and Hondas with similar trim are sparse, if even available to test drive or buy. In addition, of the 4 local Hyundai dealerships in my area, all are pricing at MSRP and not marking up prices due to scarcity. No negotiation, but hey, not scalping either in these times of shortages and inflation. Very pleased with my purchase. Time will tell on durability, but with the warranty’s, I feel comfortable with my selection.

Love at first drive
To be clear, I'm referring to the Elantra N and not the base model. Picked mine up a few weeks ago and man, is this car a hoot to drive. Great brakes, fantastic handling, a solid manual implementation and a very responsive engine make this car VERY tough to beat at its price point---especially if you can snag one at MSRP (which is admittedly difficult right now). The Civic Type R will probably end up being a hair faster, but the price of admission will be at least $10k higher after dealer markups and that car won't have anywhere near the same personality as the N does. The interior has dual 10 inch screens (digital gauge cluster and infotainment), comfortable bucket seats, and everything is customizable in N mode, where the car takes on a new and radically different personality...and did I mention the exhaust? My goodness, they tuned this exhaust note beautifully, and it makes what is hands-down the best 4-cylinder sound that you'll find in the segment. If you care about how your car sounds and you want to average 30mpg+ (I'm currently over 32 in mixed driving), this car should be at the top of your list. Will the suspension be a bit too firm for some? Perhaps, but the joy that this car brings me makes it easy to forgive the few faults that it has, and I'll definitely be keeping it as long as I can. Get an N car before they're gone, folks. Mr. Biermann just retired and soon your only options will be automatic and electric. For now, I'll enjoy his parting gift to automotive enthusiasts everywhere. Thanks, Al.

It’s a great looking car, but don’t buy it.
I’m a young guy and wanted to feel accomplished buying a new car, and found myself getting a new elantra because my father had a 2005 that lasted many years and still drives as of 2022. Not only did I have to suck up a $6000 markup and non sensical add on BS, but the new car I’ve taken in has completely ruined my perspective of Hyundai. First of all, the power train warranty is no longer as extensive as it once was. So if your IVT goes out, prepare to pay for it because Hyundai will rat you out in anyway to not pay it. Second, the cars paint is TERRIBLE. My softest towels will scratch the paint and it looks HORRIBLE after 1 day because of how much dirt shows up. I only have 4K miles and tons of chips all over the front end of the car. The bumper and hood seem to have some of the weakest and thinnest paint in the current car market. The interior is EMBARRASSING. Your fingernails will scratch every damn piece of cheap plastic including the steering wheel. Tons of creaking and loads of pointless and downright hideous dash designs that will surely warp if you park your car in the sun. The IVT is sluggish, non-responsive, and hogs the hell out of the engine when coasting. It’s one of the worst feeling rides I’ve ever had. Now the good! INCREDIBLE MPG!! I get 55 mpg in the CITY without the hybrid model. You take it easy and she will pretty much sip that gas. Engine is quiet, and so is the ride. I LOVE the design of this car!! The exterior looks way more futuristic than it’s competitors. The keyless trunk is nice, the layout on the steering wheel is legible and functional. Entertainment center is responsive and really nice. Now what do I overall think? I think this car is amazing if you’re a commuter just looking for a nice ride with good mpg. But if you like a nice interior and a durable exterior, stand clear of this moving pile of garbage. I honestly can’t see this car looking remotely good after even 5 years from now. But, hopefully it’ll hold up Hyundais somewhat decent power train reliability and prove me wrong.

2022 Elantra N seriously a fabulous car
The list is short and quite irrelevant for the list of things I don't like about my new phantom black Hyundai Elantra N. It boils down to a lack of electric seats, a slow wireless charging pad for your phone, and a poorly placed trunk release button. I am a heavy person who feels comfortable in the seats of the Elantra N. These seats are firm and feel like they are hugging you as you drive. You fit snuggly in them as you make hard turns. The inside of the car is amazing with it's wonderful use of technology and great materials. This car feels like I am driving 3 different types of cars. I can customize everything about this car, from the sound of it, to how it handles. When I am driving to school, I turn the car into a quiet car so to gain better miles per gallon and to not draw attention. When I was to have fun...I turn it into a loud, roaring race car with tight steering and suspension. When I want to achieve 31mpg...I turn the car into ECO mode. From the inside, she sounds almost like an electric car. One day, I would love to take this car to a race track and try out the launch mode provided...I hear it gives an extra 5 horsepower for a short burst of time to launch your car into high speeds. There is a lot of great and fun things that can be said about the car, like TEV matching in manual transmission Elantras or the amazing infotainment system, or the awesome customization of the car, or the stability due to the red bar inserted behind the seats in the back. This car is unreal, and I feel privileged to own it.

2022's car of the year
I just purchased my new Elantra limited and I love it. My car is red and it's really a head turner. Additionally it's 17 inch tires and low slink profile remains you of one of the higher priced luxury performance vehicles. There are a extensive list of safety features coupled with its outstanding warranty makes it 2022's midsized car
Sexy affordable car
A sweet car that can be customized while driving to sound like a normal car so that I do not draw to much attention from the other mom's while in line to pick up my kids from school. Then...when I drive away, I turn it into a high performance sounding race car ... This car make driving SO MUCH FUN!!!! My kids are excited to go to school in Mom's new sports car now! Everything about this car is amazing. It looks sexy and drives sexy. The customization on how the car handles and sounds is amazing. I love the REV matching on my manual transmission, it makes shifting so smooth. And when I want to be naughty...I put the car in launch mode and fly from a stopped position into speed demon in a blink of an eye! My complaints are a few redundant buttons, no interior button for the trunk...plus you must turn off the car to open the trunk, no power seats, few storage options for things like sun glasses, and the wireless charger is a hit or miss in charging. If those things were fixed next year, this would be one heck of a sweet machine!

Fuel sipping Elantra
The most amazing fuel economy we have ever experienced. Digital readout has consistently stayed at 50 mpg or higher. Yes, we are a retired couple and do drive conservatively but not slowly. The sweet spot for best mpg is between 55 and 60. Our Elantra is NOT the hybrid model either. The car drives and rides nicely and no complaints with engine power. Yes, it does require some caution when getting into the drivers seat to avoid bumping the head but have gotten use to it. Nice trunk space but should have a split folding seat back in rear. Overall we are very satisfied with our Elantra.

Fun, Sporty N line
Gorgeous intense blue color, sporty and sleek with 18" wheels. A bit raucous and uncontrolled compared to my Honda Civic sport hatchback. 20 percent cheaper than a new Civic and more tech features, better warranty and about as reliable. The new styling and free maintenance, long warranty and price sealed the deal for me. Cons: nothing major, as most professional reviews have noted...some hard plastic, wireless Android auto does not always connect properly, bit at least it has wireless Android!!! Could be a bit more controlled at take off in sport mode, but it does move when I put the pedal to the metal! Glad I brought it!

Elantra
This is the first car I’ve ever bought on my own. As a college kid, it was important that the car was safe, affordable, and good on gas. It is one of the cheapest options for how great it is. The other day on the highway, I got nearly 46 miles to the gallon (4 more than advertised.)

SEL with Convenience Package
Hyundai packs a lot of features in for the price. Overall I am extremely happy with this purchase. It is a nice upgrade from my Buick Encore. A few small idiosyncrasies I’m still getting used to. It is a smooth drive, and base engine has plenty of power.

Great Car
Im talking about the N Line 1.6 Turbo, comming from a variety of sports cars; ive had bmws, camaros, and other types of cars and this is the first time i have laid eyes on hyundai and i have to say that im really impressed. this Nline has surpassed all my expectations, i came across this care by coincidence, i was shopping for an SUV for my wife and saw this car and went for a test drive and ended up buying the car for me. for the price this car is beyond great, handles great, response is great, and is a car tough to beat in the street. and comparing this car to the ones ive had before, i dare to say that this care is at the level of bmw and even more fun to drive

First time Hyundai
Picked up my Elantra N in Phantom Black this week. Never really thought much about Hyundai until I started reading about the N. I wasn't a huge fan of that grill which is the reason why I chose the Phantom Black color (huge plastic front grill blends in nicely with the color of the body). I've only put about 50 miles on it but for the money this is an extremely fun ride. I am coming from a car with V6 and 330 hp (6MT) but this N is not about straight up power. Handling and suspension are amazing. The sound is also very cool (not like a V6/8 sound but still very cool). I hope Hyundai keeps selling and improving this car as I will definitely buy one again when this one hits 100,000 miles.

Wish I would have gone Civic Si or the N
I have gotten more compliments on my Lava Orange N line than any of my past rides. My biggest two complaints and they affect each other are the DCT and speed. For a car that has 200 horsepower, this car should be a lot faster than it is. The DCT I absolutely hate!$ I cannot see how anyone likes it. I have tried all combos of driving. Traction and stability control off, sport mode and placing trans in sport mode is the quickest mode for the car. But it still feels off. The trans bogs, hesitates and shifts horribly. It will rev match in sport mode. For me, the DCT ruins the entire car. Otherwise, it looks good and is comfortable enough. There is a lot of value in this car. Do I regret getting it? Yes, absolutely I do! A few years ago I had a R Spec Veloster with the same engine as the N line. It had a manual 6 speed. The seats were complete garbage! But it was much faster than the N line. Other than the DCT, everything else is acceptable. If you do not mind the jerky shifting and slow speed of the car, you might like it. I suggest test driving if you can before buying. Something about Hyundai’s paint jobs is not up to par, either. Seems the do not do a great job at the factory. The last 2 Hyundais I have owned have changed my mind about the brand. This N line will be my last Hyundai.

Hyundai Elantra has serious records of engine issu
Beware that some models of Hyundai (Elantra) are particularly very prone to engine malfunction and just engine self destruction. My 2016 Elantra's engine malfunction pushed a hole on the side of the block. Took it to the dealer, 2 weeks later they tell me corporate Hyundai declined warranty repair because of maintenance neglect. We maintained the car and did all oil changes every 3k miles. To declined based on neglect is the most unfair excuse not to get it repaired. I will not rest until Hyundai owns the problem and gets it fixed. Engine failure is a far more common issue they've had as I do my research on the internet. It seems like my issue could warrant a recall yet Hyundai chooses to decline the repair. It has 88,009 miles. I don't know what to do, this is so unfair...

Wonderful Car
Great car to drive. This car has a luxury feel with a cheap car price.
N/Line Saved My Life!!
Image a car that can do a square “S” at 80mph to “0”! My Elantra did it! I-95 N at Cheyenne exit a crash with 40+ cars trying to all get off at the bottom of a steep hill. I come over that hill at see the crash and one car stopped maybe two car lengths short of the pack in the center lane. I do a square “S” around it ending up in the fast lane rather than fly off the freeway. No other car l have owned or driven could do that. No my Honda Accord, Nissan Altima or Ford Fusion! Bloody Incredible suspension!

Wow. Better than I anticipated.
Very happy to have made the purchase of my Shimmering Silver Pearl 2022 Hyundai Elantra. I had ordered a Ford Maverick Hybrid almost 7 months ago (still waiting for build) and decided that the Elantra actually offered better features and gas mileage for a better price.

Hyundai Elantra 2022
I bought my Hyundai Elantra limited 2022 I was really happy and excited, I do like my car the style and the technology it’s great. I noticed a couples of months ago that the car it’s been making some cracking noises every time I pass a bump in the street, then I started to heard the same noise like a squeaky noise every time the car go up or down in ramp , or even driving the car on an uneven pavement, I took the car the first time to the dealership and I told them about the noise , they say some of the axle nut were loose so the thigh them , but the noise still there , so I made an appointment again , they kept the car for three days and they told me they couldn’t find anything. But the noise still there , I took the car for the 3rd time and they said there was nothing wrong with the car . But this time a technician drove my car and we took the car for test drive . Then the noise came and I told the technician that’s the noise , he said that was normal . Weird cause I never heard that noise before , even in the other cars that I had before a Honda an a Toyota , I never heard anything like that . At this point I don’t know what it is that annoying cracking noise ,? could be the suspension or something else , but I don’t really like to drive the car like that . Honestly I’m very disappointed…
