Bought for warranty
I bought this car for the warranty. I had good luck with my last Accent (2003) and hope to have as good luck with this one. However, I much prefer my 2003 Accent over the 2012 one.
Great looks and great value!
I have owned this car for about a year and a half ~36k. I loved the way the new Hyundais looked and I decided on the Accent. I got a silver SE trim. I love black interior, fog lights and rims. MPG's aren't that great for such a small car. AVG is 27/36 This is a great handling car. Engine is a bit noisy, however it is very responsive and you can really get up and go when needed. Drove this thing from Maryland to California and it did great. After about 10k I drove through a pretty deep puddle during a hurricane and the engine was damaged (my fault 100%). I ended up having to replace the engine. Hyundai wouldn't cover it because it was "water damaged," but my insurance did cover it.

Overall a great car and value.
Good car in this price range. Bought the 6 speed hatchback new and have been impressed with it. Very impressed with the motor. Has plenty of power, is smooth and quiet and good with mpg. Yes it takes discipline to keep the mpg in good range. Drive a lot on icy mountain roads and this car has saved me a couple of times with great braking and stability in dangerous situations. Wouldn't recommend for a taller/bigger person but I guess that goes without saying. Its comfortable on long trips and I can fit my hybrid bicycle in the back! Big payload with seats down. Some minor finish failures in the cab with chrome covering peeling off in a couple of places but so what. My friend had an Accura that was a few years old and it had the same finish failures! Very happy and will probably buy the Kona next.

Engine manufacturing defects
I bought my Hyundai in August 2013 with 16,000 miles on it. In 2014 it began making a whiney noise when accelerating. By 2016, the noise was happening frequently, and the car seemed sluggish. November 2016 I brought it into the dealership, and they replaced the small engine block. Now, May 2017, the same noise has returned!! This is an unacceptable defect in the engines, they need to be recalled!!
