If you’re looking for a old-school VTEC Honda but you don’t want to be like everyone else and have an Integra or a civic the Honda prelude in my opinion is the best normal VTEC car Honda has made. (meaning other then the type R’s and the NSX) the h22 loves to rev like all the old Hondas do and has no problem with you beating on it. Its a very solid engine and if you’re in to upgrading your car it’s a good place to start because it’s easy to work on and has plenty of aftermarket support. Pros: Great power, a 7,300 rpm redline ,reliability, excellent transmission, comfortable and quiet for how old it is, and for the fourth and fifth Gens still look good to this day and is also a great starting car to learn how to drive stick and to upgrade. Cons: The transmission is geared a little too short for my liking so at highway speed’s around 70 to 80 miles an hour the car sits around 3500 RPM. But even with it sitting at high rpm it still gets around 25 if You drive it righ The transmission is geared a little too short for my liking so at highway speed’s around 70 to 80 miles an hour the car sits around 3500 RPM. But even with it sitting at high rpm it still gets around 25. I Bought mine with only 107,000 original miles on it and I drive the hell out of it and I love it! If you can find a decent one with low miles and runs strong I strongly recommend picking it up or at least driving it.

(UPDATE Jan 2020) Sold the Prelude in 2019 and regretting it. I needed a larger vehicle so I sold it and bought an SUV. I’d buy another Prelude in a heartbeat but they’re getting harder to find now in good condition. This car is a classic now and it still looks and runs great for a 20yr old car. If you can find a manual transmission SH model that’s been well maintained, they’re worth every penny. The A/C functions great (very cold!) and the engine has no major issues. The car is pretty light and low to the ground so it handles very well. The seats are ok, comfortable for normal driving but may get uncomfortable on long drives. Back seat is very limited, but will fit adults less than 6ft. Interior materials (dash, carpet, upholstery) have held up well for a car that is 2 decades old; mine still looks perfect. It can fit a child car seat in the back if needed. THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR: These engines are known to burn oil (this is normal on some older cars), so stay on top of oil changes and maintenance. You may need to add a quart of oil or more between oil changes. The Auto transmission may fail if car is abused/raced or neglected. Keep up with maintenance and drive it easy, you'll be fine. Manual transmission should have no issues if you know how to drive.

I own a Prelude SH with 105k miles, it just runs amazing, in my school we have started a prelude team, we have in our school alone 5 preludes, each memeber put in alot of effort in finding one. i have to only SH out of the group, and even though i have the most milage i can take any of thier ludes, you just have to take care of them, u cant drive em like a camry, u have to have a compassionate love for the car so you will put in money and time, my weekdays are all school and work, and my weekends are all for my prelude. the ATTS SH is amazing, you will feel the difference people! over all it was my dream car and i finally got it, and people turn thier heads twice when my SH rolls by all stk

I've owned my 98 for a year and a half now. I've put major miles on it and STILL not a darn thing wrong with it. It's too good of a car. The low rpm power is minimal, but after 3grand (especially after 5 grand...LOOK OUT!!!) The H22A those fine engineers over at Honda put into this classy lil chassis is top notch! It is a shame that Honda was stupid and discontinued the Lude. Oh yeah....did i mention the HANDLING??? One word-MINT!

The car is fun to drive, and corners well. The car needs more HP (195 HP), but the car still zips along. Overall its a good car!
