My first car, drove it from 149K to 180k Miles, commuting to college daily. Was a blast to drive it. It was quick and stylish for a 1992 car. Wish Honda still made them. If you took care of the car, it takes care of you. It never failed me. The back seats were tight. Took corners and handled like a race car. I can only Imagine what the 4WS version drove like. No one could ever believe it was a 92, Good job with the impressive styling by Honda. Had the Original clutch at 180k Miles when I sold it still running strong.

This car refuses to stop running. Stick shift is the only way to go. -250K miles -The only reason I've ever been stranded road side was due to a flat tire. Take care of it and it will take care of you. Typical Honda rust. 2 out of the 5 gears grind a little bit. 2nd and 5th. I would recommend it to anyone. For a 20 year old car with a quarter million miles. It runs like a champ with a chip on it's shoulder like it has something to prove every damn day.

Bought my lude at 252,000 miles for 1600 from someone in my area. Original engine. Weekly commutes between ATL and Charlotte by previous owner. It had 4ws(amazing in the parking lot, seamless at cruising speeds). it was auto(booo) but the 2.3 motor was still pretty quick. smoked eclipses, civic, integras, even a vtec lude. interior comfortable. 6 spkr audio setup amazing. car carries sub base extremely well. very fun to drive, almost gokart like. Totaled her at 305,000 miles, car split in half, roof smashed down, could touch the pavement from drivers seat through floorboard, and i still walked away without even a cut. Speed sensor went out and a/c lights went out. Thats it.

Best car I have EVER owned

After having gone through a Chevette, Datsun B210, Monte Carlo, Chevy Beretta, I was convinced all cars were junk. This little Prelude was one of 2 left on the lot after a year. Never used - brand new with mileage less than 25 miles. I traded my piece of junk Beretta in for this car and got it for a steal. It is now 2009, NO rust, no exterior or interior problems, no major problems outside of maintenance and required items with the exception of the air handling controls. This car will outlive me and I get people wanting me to sell it all the time. If you have an opportunity to buy one, get it. They are an incredible and fun car. I plan on keeping it forever.

The only new car I have ever bought

This is the only new car I have ever bought. 190k miles now and running strong. Still using the original brakes and brake pads. On my 3rd set of tires. The only parts replaced have been the timing belt/water pump at 120k miles reg maint., and distributor and radiator at about 140k miles. I think I replaced 2 tail light bulbs too. That's it. This car has surpassed my level of comprehension of reliability. I am going to give it to my son, and am looking for a replacement that will be as reliable.

This is a car that handles like a dream, and is bullet-proof reliable like every Honda I've owned. Maintenance is affordable, maintenance intervals are generous (for its time) 7500 oil / 90k belt. It's a shame they discontinuted this line - you pretty much have to buy an S2000 to get this level of handling nowadays. My S is a little low on power, but there's not much you can do with an Accord engine. If you have a choice, do purchase the Si or '93+ VTEC. You'll get a lot more for your money. As to the owner who blew his balancing shaft seal - your mechanic probably neglected to read-up on the Honda bulletin that urged you to swap it out ASAP due to a weak retention ring.

Superior handling

This car has the best handling in its price category. Performance is good for a 4 cyl. The 4ws is so much fun to drive, you just wanna turn in corner at the last second so people in the other lane think you're gonna hit them. For a 16 year old car, exterior is great. When you stop at a red light, people just want to race you even if you don't want to. Note this is a cop magnet car too. Give the car good tire and handling is more then amazing.

It just passed 150K miles & has required minimal maintenance & few things have worn out! I testdrove a new Prelude last year & it felt almost EXACTLY like my 10 yr old one. I've usually replaced a car every 2 yrs until I bought this one. I bought a new truck last year, but kept my Prelude as I couldn't give it up. I expect to see it hitting 250K at some point.

i have owned my prelude si for about 10 years now and i loved it! i am on the 3rd motor but it still around kicking strong! the body has 270,000 miles on it and has no rust or major dents, i did away with the stock wheels and put 19 inch rays racing wheels on it and it handle like a Cadillac lol had to do away with h23 and put the f22 in it for now, but not every one knows what they in the f22s you boost a stock f22 10 to 12 lbs and be just as fast or faster the h22, enjoy your preludes because i have enjoyed mine. bout time to sell want an s2000 to play with.

I have owned this car for over 2 years now, and added almost 35k miles. This car has to be the best used vehicle I have ever owned. I have not had one problem with this car even way after hitting 100k miles. The base performance on this car is awesome for being a 4cylinder. I've had a few passengers ask me if it was a 6cylinder! Styling is fun, young, and sleek. Interior is absolutely amazing and none that i've ever seen. The quality of build is definitely there. Sure, it's not a lexus, but for the money I paid for it, it feels like it. Handling is top-notch. I have no doubt that it will easily reach 200k. This is the best all around bang for your buck.

The Honda Prelude is my 1st car and I would never dream or ponder of selling it. I bought it just under 100K; the handling is awesome, the body is strong (I was in a hit and run and thanks to it's strong body styling I didn't get as hurt as I should have); and wow I have never seen a car get so many glances. ^.~ It has a lot of power for a 4 Cylinder, speedy, and very sporty. The interior is perfect with it's bucket seats, and I believe even the stock system is awesome. I have installed a cd-deck so it sounds crisp and clean. Besides everything, I've had few minimal problems with my 'Lude other than the normal changes and tune-ups. It's fun to drive!!

It's a fun car, great handeling, good torque, solid built. I have the 4WS and it makes tight turns much easier, but it's just another thing that can go wrong. I have had the car for 11K miles and the besides the regular maintainence I have had some electrical things go out and it cost $150 to fix, not bad. Sometimes when I turn the car off for a few minutes and turn it on again the 4WS light stays on ( which means that there is a prolem with the 4WS) so I turn the car on and off a few times untill it goes away. The rest of the car is realiable and should last a while.

I bought my Si 'lude with a little under 100K. I've only had to replace the timing belt (preventative maintenance) and get some oil leaks repaired. I now have over 120K on my car. I absolutely love it!! This is the funnest car I've ever driven. I recently test drove the new Accord EX V6 and the new V6 Altima (I thought I needed a bigger car). My '92 lude would run circles around both of these vehicles so I'm sticking with my lude. Recently, I saw a car ad for a '95 lude priced at $12,000 (the ad said 'Rare car')!! Amazing! You'd have to fight me for my mine.

I've had my 1992 Prelude SI since 1993 @ approx 12k miles. I am now at 95.5k miles and only had the ac replace (2000), it finally gave in (I live in FL) and the timing belt (2001)- scheduled maintenance. Other than that, no problems, my wife drives it now and won't sell it. I even bought a 2001 Honda accord (V6)-new, and she rather have the Prelude. I tried

I just bought a 92 Si and Im loving every minute of this car. Whenever Im not driving it Im waiting for the next time I can go out and cruise. I love the handling and the power is great for a four cylinder. The enterior design is very spacious in the front but horrible in the back. I love the electronic fuel and oil gauges. The sunroof is a great addition. I could go on forever about what a great car this is, buy one if your considering it, you won't be dissapointed.

At 185K plus miles, I've had only one incident of breaking down on the road and it has seen me safely through two accidents. I was rear-ended by a 3/4 ton truck, his bumper had more damage than my Prelude. This is the most reliable car I've ever owned and I still get compliments about how good it looks despite the age.

I've had this car for 3 months now and it puts smile on my face every time I take it out for spin. It has very torquey engine for 2.3L engine so you do not need to downshift on a highway to pass someone. It's one advantage over most 2.0L turbocharged cars. One thing I do not like about this car is that I have to use premium gas. I wouldn't call this car economy for that reason.

I bought it used with 40K for wife. Car now has 240K and has only had two problems. First, a bad balance shaft seal dumped all the oil. My wife still drove it for 30 minutes in temps of 98 before stopping! Another seal blew a month ago. The wife drove a 100 miles before engine seized. YET, the wife still wants it so a new engine is going to be put in. A/C stinks.

I bought my 'lude new 12 YRS ago immediately after seeing one.It was obviously love at first sight.I'd never kept a car for more than 2 yrs before the Prelude, but I just wasn't able to find another car I liked more at 'upgrade' time. We now have a 2003 Altima as we needed the room, and a 2004 F250 for the hubby (and me!), but I REFUSE to let go of my Prelude. With 175K miles it's now needing a few things, but is still a blast to drive. I really wish Honda had not discontinued the Prelude - I'd get another in a blink. It's been a very abused car from my post-college (read broke) days that just keeps on ticking. I like my Altima. I LOVE my Prelude.

Performance is great for a 4 banger, it seems I cant get the "just right" setting for the driver seat, has no in between. Gas mileage is pretty good if you don't use the gas hard all the time. It is a BLAST to drive the cornering and handling is soooo comfortable, what a rush. Interior design takes time to get use to. Exterior looks great the back seems really high for the front. Now reliablilty, let me say I'm disappointed, had heater core, radiator, thermostat, and several hoses blow in 3 back to back days, check engine light stays on no matter what. electrical issue galore. Just she has a mind of her own, that is for sure.

I love how everything looks and feels. It still looks almost new (stupid rust). I get lots of comments on how new it looks(despite being almost 15 years old). The accord engine is a little down on power when combined with the auto tranny. It will still keep up though, especially in corners. I've never really had any big issues with the car, just normal wear then the known issues with hondas of that age (brake master cylinder, master relay, valve cover seal and cam seal). I'm looking for a new car now and can't find anything that looks and drives as good as my prelude. I think I'm getting a newer one. I'm glad that it has back seats, keeps insurance down despite them being useless.

This car is excellent in every aspect. The power is excellent, the handling is awsome, and the looks are sporty. Combined with good gas mileage, cheap price, and low insurance premiums, this car is untouchable. Advice: I would stay away from the 4 wheel steering models due to their increased weight. The (subtle) performance gain is not worth the weight increase.

I puchased my 92 Prelude w/ over 160,000 miles on her. This car is has never let me down and drives really smooth. This car has excellent quality in the interior materials but CUPHOLDERS would be nice... The Engine is peppy and quick to deliver you the passing speed you need on the freeway. I consider my car to be a 2seater because those things in the back That Honda calls seats function better as shelves for me. My nine year old brother said it was cramped back there.... This car is EXCELLENT and drips with quality.

I bought my '92 Prelude Si with 4-wheel steering from a friend four years ago when it had 85,000 miles on it. Since then, I've put another 35,000 miles on it and it still drives like new. It is extremely fun to drive and is quick enough to beat or keep up with newer cars with much more horsepower. I recently bought a new car and will be very sad to see the Prelude go. It's been great to me and I highly recommend that anyone who wants a fast, fun to drive car and is on a tight budget to buy one. The four wheel steering also adds a whole new dimension to this car.

Well I bought my car at a junkyard and I liked it so much I'm currently waiting to save up enough money to purchase a new JDM 2.2L v- tech engine. I enjoyed the interior. It looked already sporty and ready to race since I'm into all that tuner car thing. I loved the way the seats were inside. They already had the shape of some aftermarket racing seats with the flares and stuff. I liked the smoothness of the ride, the shifting (mine's standard). Since I got it I have had so many compliments and I just can't wait till I take it to the track now.
