2025 Honda HR-V Consumer Reviews

GOOD SUV FOR THE PRICE
After owning and driving the 2025 Sport Honda HRV for 3 weeks now, here is my review and comments: Comfort— The seats are firm but comfortable. However, for those with a sensitive back, the vehicle might not suit them because the HRV rides a bit rough and bumpy on uneven roads. I also purchased a lumbar support cushion, because the Sport does not have lumbar adjustment support. Room— The HRV is roomier than I expected for its size. Perfect for a small family, running errands in town, or for taking a trip—Plenty of room, and it’s easy to get in and out of for those who like to sit higher than in a car. Gas Mileage— To date, I am getting 31.2 mpg combined. Not Bad. With that being said, I am easy on the gas pedal. Quiet: No, the car is not as quiet as it could be. It does transmit road noise into the cabin, especially if the road surface is rough. Perhaps the non sport models are quieter due to different tire and wheel configuaration. If you want quiet, then look elsewhere. Technology— It has all the technology I will ever need, or use. Honestly, I will not use every bell-and-whistle this SUV has to offer. Interior Materials— Door panels are a basic, cheap hard plastic, but then this is a utility SUV. If cheap plastic bothers you, look elsewhere. The dash board is not as hard as my previous Subaru so time will tell if the sun’s UV rays will damage the dash—I hope not. The upholstery is quality and should hold up well over a long time. I did not get the cheap leather-like vinyl. I did invest in all-weather matts and a cargo tray to protect the carpet areas. Eventually, I add front seat covers to protect the original. Mechanical— This vehicle has a well-tested and very reliable 2.0 litter non-turbo engine with a CVT trans. No, I did not purchase the AWD model as this will deliver poorer gas milage and mechanically it will be more expensive to service. Since I keep my cars for a long time, for extra security, I got the extended Honda warranty, and I am covered up to 100K anywhere in the U.S. and Mexico. I also got insurance on the wheels and tires, and the windshield (with censor camera) since these can be pretty pricy to replace. Power—There have been complaints that the HRV is underpowered. I disagree. The HRV is certainly not a MAZDA SUV or Hyundai, or KIA, but it has enough power to get the job done efficiently. Honda knows what they are doing. If the you want more power, then look elsewhere. I hope my review is objective helpful enough for someone that is considering purchasing this vehicle.

Sad for grandmas!
I am grateful for the ease of getting in and getting out. However, I am a senior and whoever designed the little SUV did not have grandma in mind! I need the trunk to go shopping but the door opens so high and is so heavy that I cannot reach it. And I miss the handles that were on my other Hondas above the driver and passenger doors. I have had 6 Hondas. Other than the ease of getting in and out, I'm not calling this my favorite. +

Disappointing Buy- if I could do no stars I would
The seats in this car are not completely done, the upholstery in the front seats is half done. From the outside it's complete, but inside the material in the seats it's just hanging. I don't know if they did not have enough material or did not have money to pay for a complete job. I found out a week after I bought the car, I contacted Honda manufacturers and my Honda dealership. The representative at the Honda manufacturers told me it did not sound right, for me to call my dealership. I contacted them and took the car to them for inspection, while they agree with me that this is something they have never seen the have to jump through hoops to find out for sure. They contacted their Honda representative, and they go around dealerships to see if the other HRV's are the same. Then they turn around and tell that this is normal, now just because all of them are done wrong does not make this right. I contacted the Honda manufacturer again they said they opened up a ticket just to turn around and tell me the findings that the dealership representative found was correct. Now I have bought plenty of vehicles and I have never seen this before, this is the first and last time I buy a Honda. It is incredible for a company that is supposed to be a really good company to not be able to completely upholster their seats and call it a normal thing. I am very disappointed, if you are buying this car please think twice about it.

Sophisticated styling, safe, and reliable
Great looking inside and out, with many safety features, a very reliable Honda engine, good interior space, and reasonable horse power and gas mileage for a non-hybrid. Not for those who want fast acceleration or a hybrid's mpg, but great for those who want a practical car that is very safe, well built, reliable, and has a more premium, sophisticated look inside and out.

Love my HRV! Always reliable! I know it doesn't have a lot of power but good enough for me! I am not looking for power! Better then my 2020 HRV!

HONDA HRV IS FOR ME! BUT WAIT, THERE IS MORE!
Edmunds Cons: Slow acceleration, uncomfortable front seat? The SUV has plenty of power and although the driver's seat could use lumbar support, they are comfortable. With a recorded 1500 miles so far, my best milage, and supported by a photo, is 41MPG! My average is 34MPG, so if you drive it well and smartly, the HRV gets better than stated milage per gallon. BUT WAIT, THERE IS MORE: A NHTSA RECALL NOTICE! Yup, the Honda HRV 2025 is recalled for a bad power steering box. And the worse part, is that the repair parts are not available! American Honda Motor Company states its the dealership's responsibility to order the parts, and the dealerships point their finger at Honda while waiting for the parts. Meanwhile, while the dealerships are waiting for the parts to fix the faulty mechanical recall, I am driving a car whose steering can fail at any time, so wish me luck and say a little prayer for me.

I love my car
When I sat in it I knew it was where I belonged on the road. My HR-V cuddles me in comfort, but its red color roars Rottweiler protection. It is easy to drive, handles smoothly on the road, behaves rounding tight corners and has powerful on-command acceleration.

Comfortable daily ride
I've had this car for 3 weeks and really like it. I was originally looking at the CRV and Mazda CX-5. The CRV just seemed too big and although the Mazda has great reviews, I just wasn't sold on its looks. The HRV drives smoothly, feels sturdy, and is comfortable to drive. It is roomier than I expected. I chose the EX-L trim mostly because I wanted the leather interior. I didn't give it 5 stars because the acceleration is a little sluggish. Overall, I like it.
Cheap and Basic
This is the cheapest and poorly equipped Honda I have ever owned. The trunk must be manually raised and lowered from outside the vehicle and it’s heavy! There is no automatic trunk latch. Would not recommend the HRV. Cheap, cheap, cheap.

Only full MSRP for the HRV
I liked the easy access! and good visibility from the driver'seat. The ExL is worth the higher price, than the HRV's other models. I did not buy because the dealer would not take less than the MSRP sticker price!
Great
Practical just right
Easy and Fun to Drive
Like driving an SUV, love the Premium White Color, peppy, and fits our needs.

Such a great car!
With the help of Manny at DCH Paramus Honda, I was able to upgrade from my 2022 HR-V to my new 2025 HR-V! I fell in love with my HR-V when I first got it and was such a reliable car. I knew that I would upgrade it with the help of the best dealership and salesman.

Wife loves it but
I find the only real fault is it's underpowered. The 1.5T would match up great with it

Love it!
I love my HR-V: pros-the gas mileage is over 400 miles on one full tank of gas. Smooth ride, big enough for a family of four. Con’s- no cover on the back trunk so anybody can see inside your car.

1st time suv
The HRV EXL exactly what I was looking for. Small enough for me to feel comfortable, yet large enough to haul whatever I need to.
Honda Ignored Me, But They Did Make Improvements
I just traded in my 2013 Honda CRV and wife's 2018 HRV on a new 2025 HRV Sport. My previous complaints were of them lying about their auto radio specs. 40 Watts did not become 160 Watts! Also that the AM did not sound very good. So much so that I ripped it out and put in a10 year Blaupunkt. I was Blaupunkt's US road test man for 15 years and was their expert on such matters. I gave the go aheads to release them. The 2025 HRV is a tad smaller than my former 2013 CRV, yet bit larger than my wife's former 2018 HRV. It is comfortable to sit in and drive. Visibility is good all around, the rear view camera is great. Bingo, the radio. The tumor on the dash board can be difficult to read in sunlight. They put tweeters in the side window pillars. That's great! AM sound is much improved and the FM quite good. If in an accident, I wonder what that on dashboard, hatchet-looking thing would do to me. Sometimes you might not easily see the dimly illuminated presets, and you might finger and wiggle them a few times to get the station to change. You'd better get used to the other preset buttons on the steering wheel. They work. I miss the CD. How about making steering wheel an accessory? Speaking of the controls, the cruiser control has twice as many things to manipulate than did the older cars. I often swear at the GD things I have to fiddle with They just love their menus, and multiple things to press. The older vehicles were much more intuitive and did not often distract you from driving to simply zero the trip odometers or maintain speeds. I'd rather drive an automobile than manipulate a computer! More to come. So far 400 miles. Most things operate well. The vehicle seems to have lower mileage than the 2013 CRV, but that is a first impression. Hint: on the 1st week, the 12 year got 33+ mpg on the Chicagoland toll roads. The 2025, got 23.5. Maybe too much traffic.

A bit smaller in size but still amazing
Did a test drive to determine if a little smaller car than what I lease now ( CR-V) would be a huge difference.
