@172,000 Didn't drive it a lot this past year. Nothing wrong, just love the car and gave it to my daughter to learn on. This will be the 3rd new driver for the old girl. hahaha. It'll be a sad day when we have to part ways. I wish Honda still made this car. What a great, dependable car! @ 165,000 miles I hope they start making them, again. My Fit sure has changed my mind from the beginning. I have the Fit, a Sienna xle, and a Camry. Hands down, the Fit is my favorite - I'll never by another Toyota - they're too noisy and too expensive to maintain. The Fit is easy maintain and easy to drive, although I still don't like it as a highway car. When I first bought this car I took it back to the dealer because I thought the steering had a flaw. It was just the wind. It's very light and really gets pushed around on the road. We took it from Ohio to Virginia this summer and what a terrible trip. It's just not built to drive over 55. Hate the van-like mirrors in the front - they just cause a blind spot. Also, there is a terrible smell in the ventilation system which is common with these Fits. Really I would not buy this car again. The storage is great and MPG is better than advertised. I haven't had any mechanical issues. We bought it for my wife to learn to drive. I wouldn't suggest this as a first car, especially with the blindspot created by the van-like mirrors and the horribly uncomfortable headrests. Update at 72,000. I went from Hankooks to General Altimax tires and the handling and ride are much better. Nothing really wrong with the car. I'd say it's a very good city car. I don't much care for having to change the tranny fluid every 30,000. Road noise is a little aggravating, but it's a cheap ride with good gas mileage. Update at 90,000 I really would not buy this car again. Those small windows in the front are hazardous. Ii's just such a huge blindspot. Also, It's just too light and small for the highways. And the headlights on low beam are too low, but fine on high beam. Road noise is also aggravating. If it weren't for those small windows in front, I'd say it's a very good city car. The gas mileage is very good. Storage is good. Front seats have a lot more room then you would expect for a car that size. It has no power. It will seat 5, but it's a real struggle, and you can't use the AC with more than 2 people in the car. There just isn't enough power. I'm looking at new brakes again, but other than that - no mechanical issues. TERRIBLE paint quality. I think they put on about one coat. 97, 000 Just put brakes and rotors on. I took the headrests off - better vision and much more comfortable. I'm impressed at how this thing goes through the snow. It's been doing what I bought it for. - cheap, reliable transportation. I still don't like the smell in the defrost, the mirrors, or the headrests. Also the arm rest on the door wore out. But, knock-on-wood, I haven't had any dependability issues, aside from not being a highway car. 110,000 miles. I like the car more and more. It's almost 5 years old. I just had the valves adjusted and the throttle cleaned which made it run better. That hesitation when you stop and go is a lot less, and it seems to have a little more power. I put another set of tires on - General Altimax 75,000. I doubt the tires will last more than about 30,000, but I expect it now. I had to replace a stabilizer bar bearing for about $30, and of course I change the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles. I've learned the smell from the defrost can be reduced by turning on the defrost and heat, the last couple miles of a trip, to help dry out condensation. I've taken out the head rests in the front and back for better visibility, and comfort, especially in the back. We live in NE Ohio where there is a lot of snow, and even in the summer, the road conditions are horrendous - I swear, it would probably be less wear on the car if I drove through people's yards. This little Fit holds up well, I'm surprised, and happy. I still won't take it on another long trip, but it's a great town car, and given the same situations, I'd probably buy it again. See you for an update next year! 4-12-19 @ 118,000 Still running strong. Tires look good. A good car for the money, and more comfortable without the headrests. Still not a highway car. 4-12-2020 Just put rear shocks @ almost 140,000 miles. Also, had a problem last Spring with a hard braking when it was cold. Fixed that with a new brake booster check valve, I'd buy the car again. It's been dependable and cheap to operate. The vanlike mirrors are something you have to get used to. I took out the headrests for more comfort, but this has a lot more room than you'd expect. My wife loves the car, so do my son and daughter, so I expect it will be their around town car. It's help-up well and still looks good, even in NE Ohio weather. It has grown on me.

Edmunds asked for a follow up review. I sold this car in February of 2014. Lots of good to say about this car, great handling, lots of room inside, very comfortable seats and driving position, easy to maintain, very reliable. Now for the reason I sold it, the power is marginal, really have to stand on the gas and stay on it. Kinda sketchy on the highway, nervous at speeds above 70mph. Used it one winter to go skiing, and with studded tires, it went better in the snow than 99% of the cars and SUV's minus the ones with actual snow tires. Overall was a fun car, just needed more power for everyday driving.

I have had my Fit Sport 5MT for over 3 months and I am very pleased with the car. I purchased it to take over daily driver duties from my BMW 330Ci. I wanted a car that is fun to drive, inexpensive to operate, and high on practicality, and so far the Fit delivers on all counts. The cargo area is very capacious, and the Fit was able to carry 4 new boxed 16" aftermarket wheels behind the back seats. I am also able to fit my road bike in the back using a fork-mount rack. I only need to fold one seat and I do not need to drop the seat on my bike to load it back there (I am 5'10" and ride a 56cm frame). Seating in the back is fine with ample head and leg room considering the size of the car.

I looked at almost all of the competing vehicles and went with the Fit since it fit my needs best. For the price, it's hard to beat considering the legendary reliability of Honda cars. The closest compition is (IMHO) the Scion xD and Hyundai Accent.
Nothing impressive, but it gets the job done.

I bought this vehicle for the cargo space and for its bare bones nature. I bought a Honda for their "legendary" quality in the small car market. Maintenance for this vehicle has only entailed routine oil changes and 1 set of tires at this point, but this vehicle is barely broken in at 29,000 miles. Should be noted, another reviewer commented on having to replace the A/C in their Fit before 30,000 miles. I am currently replacing my A/C compressor in my '11 Civic with 59,000. This could become a theme with Honda as this is far to early to be replacing these parts. My main problem with this vehicle is fuel economy. I expect 35 - 43 mpg in a small vehicle like this. When SUV's are starting to get over 30 mpg, a small vehicle like this should be pushing 40 mpg, but it doesn't. I use only ethanol free fuel, as there is a slightly better bump in fuel economy, but I still won't get better then 34 to 36 mpg on my daily commute (mostly highway at 60 MPH). I should note that this is while driving like a grandpa and utilizing as much drafting and coasting as possible. On long drives (upwards of 2 hrs) I have obtained 42.1 mpg while traveling between 55 and 60. This car will drink fuel at speeds exceeding 65 mph. MPG drops drastically during the winter, I'm sure it is due to the quality of fuel and the cold temps in NY, but I tend to average 29 to 32 mpg. Acceleration is just plain poor. Don't expect to pass a slower vehicle on a 1 lane road at 55 mph, unless, of course, you have a mile to do it. I haven't driven the newer 130 hp Fit (2016), but I have to imagine that the additional 13hp makes a huge difference. HONDA PAINT SUCKS!! I have a 2011 Civic and 2013 Fit. The civic is color blk and the front of it looks sand blasted. The Fit (red) has stood up better, but I have made it my mission to protect it. I will leave large gaps between me and the car in front. Still, with these vehicles, the paint chips every time a small object hits it. I have read countless reviews where people complain about this. BEWARE: HONDA PAINT Greatest feature(s) is the average fuel economy display. I still calculate manually with each fill up, but it is nice to have an idea of how your doing. It has caused me to drive much slower in a continuing effort to beat my "high score". I also like the windows as you have almost zero blind spots. I call this vehicle the fish bowl because you have more window than car. Nothing impressive about this vehicle. I had the arm rest installed in mine and switched out all the lights, except headlights, for cree LED lights solely because the out dated incandescent draws too much power and lacks the brightness. The heater during the winter will take 10 minutes to warm up, so I am usually close to reaching my destination before I have substantial heat. I installed a trailer hitch on mine and pull a small 4' x 8' trailer from time to time to the hardware store. This makes the vehicle incredibly more useful. Some reviewers have commented about sway while operating in windy conditions. This vehicle will travel wherever the wind blows. It is a constant fight to keep it straight, which should be obvious due to the bubble design and light weight. Snow handling is great. I drive in NY state's snow belt and I'm often fighting icy/snowy roads. The stock, narrow, wheel rims give you excellent traction. I haven't needed snow tires as an all season has worked just fine up to this point. One down side is your road clearance. I often bottom out on snowy roads and always risk the possibility of getting stuck. Car seats are difficulty to get in the vehicle and deal with, but this tends to be the case with all compacts and sub compact cars.

Overall this is a great car. There are a few quirks with it, and the technology leaves something to be desired, but for the price you can't beat it. There's a USB input jack as well as an auxiliary jack. There is so much room in this car! When the back seats are folded down I could sleep in the back of this car. There are some strange blind spots which definitely take some getting used to. There are small windows on the side of the dash to help with this, but don't do as much as you would expect.

Long time Honda fan, owning an Accord and two Fits. (Previously drove VW's and BMW's.) Currently own a 2013 Fit which I purchased new, five years ago. My first Fit (2010) was totaled by a hit and run driver in Stonerville-Hypoxic-idiotic Denver, CO. Airbag deployed and I was left with only whiplash, thanks to Honda's safety measures. Then, I moved to Las Vegas with my 2013 Fit and my A/C went out/replaced and battery replaced twice. I assumed over the brutal desert temperatures. After reading others reviews, I suspect it's cheap/faulty Honda. The new A/C unit feels like it's about to fritz again after only two years! Overall it's a reliable, go-kart, putt putt car with a lawn mower engine. Cheap to maintain. You can load unbelievable amounts of cargo into it. I've camped in it. Traction on this model performs excellent on ice and snow. However, little things are starting to add up especially after a recent road trip to California. - Road noise is awful, - 117 hp is dangerously under powered to try and pass cars - I had the petal to the floor and couldn't pass. - The car is flimsy and unstable feeling at high speeds on the highway - feels like any wind will blow you into the next lane, - uncomfortable seats for myself and passengers, - mediocre gas mileage 20-33mpgs. When this car was new it gave me 35-44mpg highway. I've tried many things to restore this mileage to no avail. - cheap paint job, - TERRIBLE CHEAP INTERIOR THAT I CAN NEVER KEEP CLEAN! Oh Honda, why would you put cloth seats with little HOLES in them to grab every bit of lint, hair and garbage?! My interior looks filthy after one car load of passengers! - My satellite radio had to be mounted underneath the CD player, closing off a cup holder slot. After researching other vehicles and seeing how car technology has improved, I don't love my Fit anymore. I think there are better vehicles out there offering better gas mileage and a more comfortable ride.

'13 Fit base 5MT. So far, 10 months, 10,000 miles, no problems. Despite display indicating 50% oil life left at 5K miles, oil was changed @ 5K mi. Oil changed at 10K mi. (again display indicating 50% oil life remaining) with full synthetic. Engine seems to run better on full synthetic. Air conditioner lost refrigerant @ 26,000 miles--mystery as nothing found wrong with the AC unit itself. Concerned that after 10K mi. there has been no dash display for maintenance (wrench symbol). As there are no mileage recommendations for maintenance in the owner's manual, you are wholly dependent on the car computer for maintenance scheduling. Wondering if computer is working properly. Can't believe no service is required after 10K miles. Very satisfied and happy with the car. 3 years in, its still running perfectly, Original Dunlop tires wore unevenly, replaced @ 28K mi, Bridgestone Eco___ significantly quieter riding and a great improvement, Recall for Takata airbag replaced after 2 month wait, Dealer provided free loaner/rental during wait, Note: those with rental/loaners are prioritized to the top of the waiting list. At 39,000 on the odometer the car is getting 1-2 mpg less mileage on a gallon of gas. Lifetime mpg is still slightly over 31, which is 2 mpg OVER the EPA estimate. Engine feels as if it's finally "loosening" as in it finally feels "broken in", Engine feels freer revving since it's last servicing. Similarly, the shifter feels a bit looser and not as tight as when new, although it still functions perfectly, When asked, the car cruises effortlessly @ 75-85 mph. Further note: dealer installed side window visors have NOT reduced wind noise with the windows open--a disappointment. At nearly four years and 40K miles in, the car is still worth MORE than the blue book value in my opinion. The only negative to the car is that it performed poorly on the IIHS small offset frontal crash test. A test that was initiated in 2013-2014, The 2013 Fit was designed and in production over 4 years PRIOR to the creation of this new crash test. Hard to design for something not yet devised or invented. Much to the credit of Honda, the 3rd generation Fit, introduced as a 2015 model mid year 2014, they recalled the first 14,000 units sold and refit them with newly designed front bumpers that passed the new "small offset frontal crash test". Subsequent units were all outfitted with the redesigned bumpers. Kudos to Honda who was willing to redesign "on the fly" as it were. Many other manufacturers rather than redesign non conforming models, simply waited until the current non conforming model ran its course and didn't redesign until the next iteration or update of the non conforming model. Other information on the Honda Fit 3rd generation 2015-present. Honda's new manufacturing plant in Mexico was designed to fabricate the 3rd generation Fit and the new compact CUV the HR-V which is based ton the Fit chassis. Initial units had a lot of uncharacteristic (for Honda) quality control problems. In addition, cars were being stripped of parts in transit to the United States. More recently, it has been my observation that the new 3rd generation Fits have been made in Japan, although the HR-V is still being produced in Mexico. I firmly believe the quality control of cars from Japan exceed those made in Mexico, based on my own personal experience. September '17: a bit confused on the KBB (Kelly Blue Book) value of the car today. There appears to be a wide variance, confusing. It's my general conclusion that the value of the car (to me) is far more than the KBB value. This makes it hard to justify to trade it in on a new vehicle. Most magazine evaluations conclude that the 2nd generation Fits (2008-2013) deliver a more responsive and sportier ride (driving dynamics) than the current (2014-2017) updated version. Prior to the current version (>2014) previous Fits were on Car and Driver Magazine's 10 best list 7 years in a row (2007-2013). The current version has never been included on this list. It's my opinion that a low mileage Fit may be the best used car value going. Currently approaching 50k mi and it's still running perfectly. Tough deciding if it’s worth trading in on a new vehicle or just keeping it because it’s such a practical and utilitarian vehicle. Despite it’s power limitations it is and always has been a very responsive vehicle. I’ve always thought of my former 1970’s bmw 2002 as a superior car, but the 2013 fit outperforms it in most all respects-such is progress in engineering. I’ll be shopping for a bonafide hot hatch but most likely keep the fit as a utility vehicle.

This car can do it all and last forever. My Sport model comes with the rear spoiler, fog lights, sporty front slip, exhaust tip, and side skirts, cruise control, paddle shifters, and 16" alloy wheels. It is a great package for a great price. The car really does "Fit" everything. I have used it for plenty of long road trips. It is made for road trips with its magic seats, several storage compartments, built in USB cable, two AC power outlets, and NINE cup holders.

We bought this car because of the advertised gas mileage and we wanted a reliable family vehicle. We chose Honda because they are a reliable company and Honda resale value holds up really well. Overall the car is a great point A to point B car. We bought our car brand new with 15 miles on it. It drives smooth and has a surprising get up and go. It's also idles incredibly quiet. When I first got the car the only way I knew it was on, was by looking at the ignition! The most I've ever spent on a full tank of gas has been $25. It's usually only about $10 for 3/4 tank. My husband is a mechanic and does the oil changes at his shop so I'm not sure exactly how expensive maintenance fees are. We have not had to make any mechanical repairs at all. The car has 30k miles on it and it still runs really well. However there are some major flaws in the design. Just 1 year after our purchase we realized there were chips all over the hood and front side of the paint. So we repainted it. But again there are more chinks. It doesn't matter how closely I follow someone, the paint is just poor quality. Also, you can't hit even the smallest pothole or you will have to replace a rim. My rims are dented all the way around. The stock tires were so poor that they only lasted 6 months before being replaced. And even our replacement tires are horrible on any form of precipitation including rain. I also have a young son so I have a car seat in the backseat. I have to move the front passenger seat all the way up to allow him in and out of the car. So it makes having extra passengers almost impossible because whoever sits up front has to have an up close and personal relationship with the dash board. Also, the backseat has headrests that fold all the way down over the seat. It's incredibly uncomfortable for anyone sitting in the back seat without pulling it all the way up. And if they leave the headrest up it causes a major blind spot for the driver out of the back window. In the winter don't even try to use just the heat setting. Your windows will fog in 2 minutes. You have to use the defrost setting only for cold weather. Which is fine except when you're behind a stinky truck or you want to recycle your air instead of inhaling fumes. The cup holders up front are impossible if you have a cup bigger than a 12 oz. You have to pull your cup carefully out at an angle to avoid crushing or spilling your drink. The option of using your ipod through the second glove box is wonderful but if you have more than 100 artists on your ipod you're going to spend 10 min scrolling through artists until you find the one you want. It doesn't allow for playing by genre and it doesn't read all of your playlists. Even the max volume is comparatively low. We also had to replace our wiper blades within the first year because they were so poor. Overall this is a good car. But I don't recommend it as a family car. This is perfect for someone to drive to and from work only. It's great for long distance drives. Maintenance oil changes don't happen as frequently as they do with other cars. Gas cost is incredibly low. But if you're looking for comfort look elsewhere.
