Used 2008 Honda CR-V LX 4dr SUV AWD (2.4L 4cyl 5A) Consumer Reviews
2008 CRV LX AWD
Great car. Comfortable and fun to drive. 28.4 mpg on a recent 1200 mile trip.22 mpg in mixed driving. Really no complaints except should have bought the EX for heated outside mirrors and outside temperature gauge.
Weak Point
I am very disappointed with the upholstery on my CR-V. This car is 16 months old and the seats look worse than my 2002 Odyssey. This material does not clean up and shows wear at an unacceptable level. I bought Honda because I expect 10 years before I trade, and in this case I may soon be trading- maybe not Honda.

2008 CRV--Love it, but a few exceptions
I really relied on Edmunds reviews when deciding to purchase this car so I thought I'd give my thoughts. I'm happy I bought this..and would buy it again, but I'd but the next model up for the extra cash. If you want pep, go elsewhere. I feel safe rain or snow, and I get an average of 24-25 miles/gallon. Have done 30 mpg on a pure highway trip. Love the flexibility and space. My two gripes are 1) the brakes wear really fast--too fast. After 2.5 years, I had to replace them. And that's too soon. 2) I have some odd whistling noises when the car shifts gears/gets to a certain RPM. Dealership can't figure out what the hell it is but it's been there since the beginning.
Great car!
We have owned this car for almost a year and are very pleased with it. We shopped for the Rav4, Equinox, etc but the CRV came out ahead. On a long trip recently, which included a mountain pass, we got 33 mpg! It's cute, handles well and is great in the snow and on ice. On the down side, the tires that come with it are garbage and several people have had to replace them after only one year, including us. The folding rear seats are a VERY poor design. They wad up behind the front seats and give you almost no extra room. Honda designers should take some tips from Rav4 rear seats and have them fold once, and completely flat. Also, the hatchback, when opened, can drip muddy snow and rain.
After the first year.
This has been the best vehicle I've had. It's balanced in every sense - not too much of anything. The comfort, performance, styling and utility are just right for a small family. Even with a base LX we have just what is needed to be safe and still keep up with the times. The vehicle exudes solidity, and after a year, nothing rattles. Cruising at 70 mph all day is effortless due to the efficient gearing. Puttering around town is no chore at all. Cargo capacity is commodious, and most importantly, ALL the seats are comfortable. Materials are top notch inside and outside and EVERYTHING, inside outside and underneath is seemingly durable and well engineered. Very good braking and handling too.
