Fun to drive, but BUYER BEWARE!
The car is fun to drive. It has good acceleration and corners very well. Gas mileage is pretty good, averaging around 33 mpg combined city and highway driving. BUYER BEWARE THE A/C CONDENSER. A week ago, I noticed that my A/C was not cooling. Called the dealership and they said that it was possibly a rock through the condenser. I took it in, and sure enough, a big hole in the A/C condenser. Cost of repair, $576. I did a Google search and apparently this is a common event that Honda will not address as a problem, not only on civic, but also accord and odyssey. They tell you to file a claim with your insurance company for their poor design. This is not what I expected from a Honda.
Disapointing Honda
Learned that if you're not careful w/tire rotation and alignment on the dot, your front tires will not last more than 8k!

Fun Car
FM Tuner has poor output due to bad antenna in window, Car has trouble starting under 32 degrees, easily scratchable interior.
Happy Camper
I have had my Civic for almost a year now and I must say that when it comes to GAS it has given me excellent miles for my bucks, pump once a week or every 9 days $32 max. This car has been driven to SA,TX 2 times, and SEATS start to hurt your back after a while, plus you can't avoid hearing the ROAD NOISE. too loud. Other than that, I did purchase this car for fuel economy and I have been happy thus far. Due to uncomfortable seats and my passengers struggling to get in and out of my car I am looking for a larger vehicle, BUT I do recommend the Honda Civic for those who like cute compact, gas saver and economical prices.
You need to check out the Civic!
I picked up my 2009 LX 4-door today -- 4,500 miles in Crystal Black Pearl -- nice! I love this car! Rides great and handles great as well. Other reviewers have stated noisy ride. Well, let's see, it's a 4-cylinder, it's not a Rolls-Royce people! The road noise is no worse than any other compact car. The noise is also dependent on the road surface on which you are driving. All controls are within reach and where they logically should be. The digital speedometer pod is very cool and very easy to get used to, it took me like 2 minutes to adjust. If you are looking for a small car that handles well, is fun to drive, good and gas and very reliable, CHECK OUT THE CIVIC.
Good little car
Had this for over a year now. We bought this car after testing driving Toyota corolla, huyndai elantra etc. We've been getting about 29 mpg combined.
Traded in a BMW 3 series + Love my Honda
I traded in my BMW 3 series when it became too expensive to maintain. I leased a Honda Civic because it's cheap, safe, and good on gas, not because it's the kind of car you fall in love with, but I fell in love with it! I've driven it from NJ to Montreal and Williamsburg for weekends, and it's comfortable for long drives. It handles well, even in light snow. Very solid build quality: no squeaks, no rattles, no loose parts. Turn the key, and off you go. With easy driving you can get about 40 mpg on regular gas. This is my first Honda but definitely not my last. I would recommend Honda to anyone. Unbelievably comfortable, nice car for the money.
Pluses and Minuses
Overall, a good commuter car with good mileage. Averaging 30 mph for mixed driving and have gotten 42 on a road trip with no AC going. Has some mechanical\design issues.
Replacement Civic
I'm 16 years old, and my old Civic which was 2001 got hit by a truck when it was parked outside of my house and totalled. We were shopping for a replacement car. It was between the Civic or the 2009 Toyota Corolla. We got a really good deal on my 2009 Civic. It only has 17,000 miles. I love it. It looks nicer and more up to date than the Corolla. I'm glad we were able to get it. I just got it a few days ago so I can't report on the driving experience. So far I love driving it, and I love the auxiliary input. It handles very well. My only complaint, which I don't think should be changed because it makes the car what it is, is the hood is so short.

Worst car in the history of the world
Please read my review before you consider buying this car. The Honda Civic 2009 model was the first car I ever bought. I showed so much enthusiasm when the car keys were handed to me, I wish I hadn’t. I feel like I have built this car from scratch. Changed everything on the car and I mean everything. I’ve owned this car for 3 years or should I say the mechanic has rebuilt this car for the past 3 years now. Overheating, gear box failure, brake and accelerator issues etc.. This car is poorly wired. There’s always an electrical issue. One time I thought the car was about to burn. Security from my company had to use an extinguisher to prevent it from burning. I have been to the mechanic shop more than I have driven the car. I’m purchasing my Range Rover Evoque soon. There’s light at the end of the tunnel. Did I mention that the car has refused to move in traffic so many times I’ve lost count. Both driver and passenger side windows have been replaced but still refuse to function properly. I used the AC for 2 months and since then it has refused to work without causing the car to overheat. I gave up on the AC. The overheating problem is a constant. Expect it. There are too many issues to pinpoint. I’d need a whole website to finish my review so I’d end here for now. PLEASE DON’T BUY THIS CAR. Try a bicycle instead. Thanks

Traded in Element for Civic, loving it
Traded in my Element for a Civic because of gas mileage. I looked at Corollas, Scions, and even a Ford Fusion. In the end I had to fall back on the reliability and resale value of the Civic, and boy am I glad I did. The Civic isn't a performance car, nor is it entirely comfortable on long rides. But the interior is top notch, the steering and acceleration is responsive, the USB iPod interface is a nice touch, and the OVER 30 MPG average that I've been experiencing over the last 2000 miles has been amazing. Sure, I can't haul as much as I used to, but I never really did, and the Civic is a great car I will use for years to come.
Civitastic!
Have an 02 Odyssey EXL. Wanted a car with similar features and the EXL is very close. So much fun to drive the 02 sits now. Very quiet, tight fitting doors, NO complaints! Great gas mileage, last trip averaged 41MPG over 1200 miles. Very, very happy, it was an anniversary gift to each other!
Honda Civic LX New Car Review
I have had the car two weeks and have had no problems with it other than adjusting to automatic transmission from manual and the automatic windows and door locks. It is very easy to handle and takes corners smoothly. It drives like an automatic so I can hear when the engine wants to shift and since I'm used to manual, I would shift it at a few different RPMs but I am getting used to it. I rated it low as fun to drive because manual transmission is more fun to drive. The dealer didn't have any manuals so I thought I would try automatic. If you are really set on manual I would hold out for it as automatic is not the same thing.
What Corolla should learn from...!
I bought this car due to its non- cliche styling, reliability, and performance. I love the way it rides, handles, quietness and the overall uniqueness. I was caught between the Corolla and it was a great revamp but it looked to cliche "family" type, the horsepower never changed, and the interior looked ehh, boring. It took me awhile to get use to the clunking when out and putting in gear... the dealer told me the brakes are magnetic or so. Although, for 140 horses it has a lot of go especially on overdrive but I think a lil more pep should be added. Anyways I love the car -- it was a great deal and I get compliments and looks because it's just different from the rest.
gas milege
I do not know how people get more mileage but I am getting 20 MPG driving city.
