Nice looking car, like the led tail lights and digital dash, but I'm 5'6 and smash my shin each and every time I enter this car. Poor design there, seats could be more comfortable, lots of rattles and squeaks and idles rough at red lights. I have the basic VP model, and although it features power windows, there are manual locks and mirrors! This was almost $19k at my dealer. I wish I had done more research on other cars before leasing this. It's really not worth the $$ at all.

I traded in my 2007 civic EX for the 2009 version. That's how much I like these cars. It's always been my practice to buy the car that depreciates the least (even if you have to pay list), end trade every other year. I spend practically nothing on maintenance, and my cost is only minimal depreciation.

I went from minivan to this fun to drive car. The tiered dashboard was easy to adjust to. It has enough pep for getting on the freeway. Great a/c for living in Texas. Bought this over one year ago with no regrets. Get 28-30 mpg combined heavy city traffic and suburbs. Easiest car to wash on the driveway!

I "traded down" from a Titan and 1 year/ 22k later, I am very pleased. I average 30 MPH in mixed driving, 36 MPG on the interstate at 80MPH with AC. The car handles VERY well. It's smooth with minimal body roll. In dry weather, it can stick to a 25mph cloverleaf at 55mph, no sweat. I don't like the sound of most 4cyls, but the R18 actually sounds pretty good. Do not expect this car (1.8 + auto) to be a rocket. It will move if you mash it past 3.5k, but at a serious fuel cost. There is minimal rolling resistance, so it is easy to glide up to and hold cruising speeds to save gas without any "hypermiling" nonsense. The interior is generally ergonomically correct, and can accommodate 4 adults.

It's Honda reliability and there is no disputing that. But in reality, the car is overrated. The car rides very rough and road noise is horrible. No vanity lights is an oversight on Honda's part. The car handles good but is lacking in some basic features like: vanity lights, power seats, in- dash 6 disc changer, and homelink. It has good power unless you're merging into traffic and need to get out there (you may be in trouble). When you compare the Civic, Corolla, & Mazda3, dollar for dollar and feature for feature I think Honda ends up in last place. I think they are relying too much on a legacy and have become too complacent. Would not have another one that's for sure.

I will never buy another Honda. Honda ought to be embarrassed to have their name on this car. Although I just bought the car last year, I have had it at the dealership to have numerous flaws repaired or replaced under the warranty: (1)windshield replaced due to distortions; (2) door handles and side mirrors replaced due to the lack of quality paint job; (3) front and rear bumpers painted due to lack of quality paint job; (4) the regulators in the front doors had to be replaced when the windows stopped going down all the way; and (5) the moldings that cover-up the front side airbags show gaps when it should be flush mounted.

After having my 2009 Honda Civic LX-S for less than a week, I can say that I'm really happy with the purchase. The ride is smooth, so far it handles very well, the MPG are great (although I haven't filled up yet). Also, the interior is laid out very well. Everything you need and very easy to use. I'm a big fan of the black interior with the leather wrapped steering wheel in the LX-S model. I would advise anyone who buys the LX-S to buy the fog lights as an add-on, as they add a pop to the car. Also, this car looks so much better in person than in the pictures. In pictures this vehicle does not stand out, but in the road it does. Very happy with this car.

After 6 months the Civic is almost exactly as expected. Reliable, great mileage, solid build. There are a few things that will drive you nuts. If you are tall, the parking brake handle sticks up and you will whack your leg. It is impossible to see any part of the outside of the car from the inside so for a small car it is more difficult to park then you would expect. The rear seat is not divided so you have to fold down the whole seat - a difficult task with the release mounted in the trunk. The key has become the joke of my department at work. It is huge (gold plate it and it could be the key to the city). It also costs over $100 to duplicate. So solid car with some design issues.

I've only had higher end vehicles, audi and volvos. I wanted something that was a little more suited for a commuter. At first I wasn't excited about going to a Civic. I gave it a chance, and I LOVE IT! I can't believe I didn't own one earlier. It is so zippy, and fun to drive. I love the oil life indicator, as a woman, that takes the guess work out of maintenance. The interior is HUGE! My daughter's car seat has plenty of room, and my husband, a bigger guy, fits great as well. If you need a commuter car, try a civic, you will love it!

I selected the LX-S based on the options that comes standard on it as opposed to the LX and even some options not on the EX (leather-wrapped steering wheel). I wanted a spoiler, alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel and Automatic Transmission in a 4 door. The LX-S was tailor made for me. I originally was looking at a Fit based on price, but the LX-S was quoted lower than the Fit. I couldn't believe it. Several hundred below Edmunds TMV. Car feels very solid. Not very powerful, but I'm looking for fuel economy and couldn't care less about power. Backseat is large enough for my 2 car seats. Trunk is adequate. Based on price + mpg + reliability I'm looking forward to racking up the miles.

So far so good. This car is everything that I expected. Great gas mileage 33miles/gallon mix city/highway. Not especially sporty or exciting to drive but to get to work and around town works well. This car doesn't accelerate from a stop very well but then this is part of the gas saving component. I believe a model equipped manual transmission would improve this and be more fun to drive. But for me not practical since I drive in stop and go rush hour traffic daily. This car does have a significant amount of road noise but no more so than other cars in its size class. One other item that is an annoyance, the fabric (black) on my LX-S attracts lint and hair like a magnet. Is hard to keep clean.

I really like the dashboard layout. Having the digital speedometer on the second tier, I would actually consider a safety feature. It allows me to keep my eyes more on the road, by not having to look down as far to see my speed. I love the black seating in the LX-S, but as others have stated, it does attract the lint. Really love the gas mileage and the handling. It has the typical Honda suspension that you feel the road bumps and hear the road noise. It is fun to drive. Great visibility all around.

I have driven this car since 2009 and my other vehicle is a Subaru Outback then Crosstek. THe honda sits low to the ground. Getting in and out can be challenging. There is no real pickup when trying to enter the highway so you must be careful. Gas mileage is OK. A good car to commute but I would not buy another one.

I used to own a couple of Hondas and an Acura. This one honda civic made in North America is really a Lemon. I have only like 36,000 miles and\the following were done to my honda civic. 1) remote control transmitter two times. 2) Evaporator for aircondition gave way. 3) Right axel was replaced. 4) Tirod was also replaced. 5) Front air bag plastic got crack. 6)Front driver's sun visor replaced. I was forced to buy an extended warranty and I am not sure what is next problem? I am tired of going to the dealer. Mileate is also bad, I am only getting only 22 to 25 miles in the city on normal driving and the tires are almost gone. My old Hondas and Acura seldom see the dealer.

My 2009 Honda Civic is a year old with 15,000 miles. Took it to the dealer for brake problems and was told the brakes are dirty and rusting at 15,000 miles? This is inexcusable. I paid over $600 for repairs on a new car. Now I'm hearing many complaints and am afraid I will soon have to replace the brakes at my expense. I've driven a Honda for 15 years and will never buy another one. I'm thinking of trading my new Civic in for a reliable car.

I traded in my Expedition for this Civic as a means to get rid of my truck and to resell the Civic with no problem. At first I was just going to keep it until I found something else that I was interested in, but not anymore. I am more than pleased with the purchase of this car. Before it was just an in-between car, but now the more and more I drive it, I couldn't believe why it took me so long to realize this is the best car for your dollar overall. It's so fun to drive, styling is amazing, interior feels like you are in a cockpit of a jet and best of all it is so practical for almost any occasion. My suggestion to anyone thinking of buying one is too buy it and never look back!

Bought this a week ago and love it! So much fun to drive. Heated leather seats are great in the cold the weather, love the one-touch sunroof. At first I wasn't sure about the split dash when I was shopping around, but after driving it it's so easy to get used and actually a lot better for checking your speed. Great on gas too.

I've had my LX-S sedan for a few months now, and all has gone well except for one persistent issue that has popped up since the weather has become cold. When the car has been sitting for a few hours in temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, the car will often not start on the first try, or the car will start and then die out. The indicator window on the battery states that the battery is fine. On a brand new car, this is unacceptable. Come on Honda don't skimp on batteries with decent cold cranking amps.

We traded in a 2001 Caddy for my new Civic and find this car so much more fun to drive. Test drove Toyotas and Hyundais--Civic outshone them all. I've taken it on two trips and had plenty of trunk room for 3. Car handled well on highway beside big rigs as well as city driving. I wish it had better hwy noise insulation. Also wish the seats were not quite so hard and had lumbar support but because I like everything else, I can live with it. Got a great deal on the car in mid June which makes me like it even more! I plan to keep it until it dies. Three out of four sons have Hondas and all have high miles and are doing great. Sweet husband volunteered to drive the old family van.

I will have about 200K on this car in 4 years...have driven 30K so far and there are no issues what so ever. I get 38-41MPG combined (improved from 35 when purchased). The car handles well and is very comfortable with the exception of the location of the E- brake. Be very careful...this bothers me personally on long trips. No issues whatsoever at 30K. The Goodyears are crappy and wearing down. The stereo has one speaker that vibrates (I don't care). System sounds decent enough. I can plug in my ipod, love that. Stick shift is smooth and very sweet with adequate power. This car has been exactly as desired so far. I expect the build quality to stand above most other brands.

After owning over a dozen American Made cars, this is my first Honda. The first thing I noticed was how "solid" the car felt. Looks like a small car on the outside, but inside it looks alot bigger than it actually is. Nice expansive interior. Layout of dash/interior very user friendly. Everything easy to reach and use. Wide front view while driving, no blind spots. Very comfortable seating & alot of room to spare & I'm 6' 1". The LX automatic is nicely equipped already. I'm adding blue interior lighting under the dash areas. Gas mileage is outstanding! 31 mpg in the city-so far. Advertised 28. If this car lives up to its past proven record while I own it, I'm buying another Honda later on!

I love the new LX-S version. It has the seats of an Si, and the leather wrapped steering wheel that you have to get an EX to get. I would suggest this car for anyone that has a little sporty nature, but wants to keep the gas tank full. Remember, it's no V8, it is however a peppy I4 that's why I gave it the 9 on performance. The Brakes are also impressive. There are also little things that I like too. An auxiliary jack for my iPod, good cup holders, tilt/telescopic wheel, and the cool speedometer.

In my opinion this is best value for the money car on the market. The fit and finish of the leather and the whole interior is top-notch, and clearly beats out the 2009 Corolla that I test drove. Both the Corolla and Civic are very close, but Honda has the edge in appearance inside and out, as well as build quality. The doors have a nice thud to it, almost like a luxury car, while the Corolla had a slight rattle every timed you closed the driver side door. It's those little things that made me give Honda my cash. Both Honda and Toyota are rated #1 and #2 in reliability so it's hard to go wrong...

Just passed 15,000 miles and still pleased. We average 36 MPG. The car is comfy. Four can travel on long trips without much trouble. Five is OK for short trips. Leg room in back is very good. I like the split dash as everything is right there. The road noise can get loud sometimes, but it's mostly only noticed when the radio is off. If you want a solid fuel efficient, US made, worry free auto - you can't go wrong with a Civic.

I had purchased this vehicle after my friends told me it was good on gas. Well I got a civic 2009 EX and the MPG is horrible. I am getting 23 miles per gallon on this car. My tank is half empty with only 110 miles. I wish I can take it back for a more economical one. Not to mention the price. Too high for this car. Honda, you're going cheap to improve gas efficiency on brand new cars. People you will not be happy paying over 20,000 for this MPG. I am not a rough rider either.

I've owned a 2000 civic before this one and also an accord 2008 right now. This car is smaller than the Accord, but the quality is no less. This car is a great little 4 cylinder, very easy on gas, very quiet high quality Honda engine and nice handling. As I said on my accord review, I have own them all dodge, ford, chevy, toyota and Hyundai and where the Honda leaves the rest behind is time. After 3 or 4 years, the Honda still feels and runs like the day you purchased it. The others slowly show their age with squeaks, garage visits and part replacements. If you want a little car, easy on gas, top notch quality that will be trouble free for many years to come and hold its value - this is it.

So far I am pretty happy with my purchase of a Civic. Overall, it's what I expected. There are a few surprising issues. Most notably, the car has a tough time starting when its cold out (under 20 degrees). I live in the Northeast and that has been rather often this winter. The windshield washer nozzles have also been freezing up since I've had the car. It doesn't handle well in the snow but I expected that since it's so light. I do like the reliability that comes with the Civic and it does ride well. Also, the gas gauge seems to underestimate the amount of gas in the tank. I actually was driving with no bars on the gas gauge, so I rushed to fill the tank and I still had about 2 gallons left.

I bought the car almost one month ago. I have driven through almost all the East Coast from New Hampshire to Florida and made 3700 miles. My first impression is that it is exciting to drive it no matter how long you are driving without a stop. The power&fuel economy balance is excellent in my opinion. Interior design is cheerful and quite ergonomic. I found this car quite comfortable on both highway and city roads except the seats. You slip in a while and need to reposition yourself. Also you need to be careful on blind spots due to unusual windshield design which on the other hand completes the sleek exterior look of the car. Fortunately I have no technical problems so far.

I traded a 15 year-old Saturn with manual steering and only 37,000 miles so this car is a real treat. I did a lot of new car research and frankly don't understand some of the negatives expressed on Edmunds. The Honda is comfortable, the two-tier digital speedometer is no problem, the emergency brake handle is not a problem. Stereo/CD player sounds great, can't really tell about fuel economy yet, had to warm it up a lot this winter. Variably intermittent windshield wipers would be nice, but not a big issue. Took me 3 months before I had 600 miles to finally get to use the cruise control and it's fine. Some want a remote trunk opener on the key? Oh please, I mean opening a trunk is difficult?

Have been driving for about two months now, no problems. Dash Interface takes a getting used to, but digital speedometer comes out preferable to old one. Got it for msrp price of an LX-S Auto. Design is quite unique, but in good taste. Leather enhances driving experience substantially. Plenty of space and excellent AC, I live in FL. usb-slot + steering wheel audio buttons best feature, a 8gb usb drive provides hours of quality music, no hassle of using aux cable, and no ipod necessary. Getting 30 mpg combined. Overall above average car for someone looking for a fun, unique, fuel efficient vehicle. Plan on driving it for years to come. No seat back problems, I'm in good health.

I bought my Civic LX two weeks ago and am generally very pleased with it. BUT, I am disappointed that Honda has not entered the 21st century along with Saturn and other cars by providing remote trunk access with their Civic LX. The apparent reason: to provide a disincentive to buy the LX, and push you to buy an EX for $2000 more. So, if you have kids, if you shop and appreciate easy trunk access as you lug items to the car, buy another car. Is remote trunk access worth $2000? Not in my book. Next car will be a Toyota.

Turned in a 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan with 230000 miles in the CARS program and couldn't be happier. This car looks and feels fantastic. Could have a little more zip when merging on the highway, but it is certainly not a dog and it cruises in the mid 70's (mph) seamlessly. Absolutely comfortable and hugs the road. Nice interior design and two tier instrument panel is beautiful and ergonomic. Sound system is excellent.

I recently bough this car a month ago and already drove around 1.4K. Highway mileage is great, I got like 33 mph with air conditioner on. City mileage is not so good though, I am making only 22-23 mph. One of the reasons might be the fact that I usually have to drive in heavy traffic, go little and stop again. Road noise sometime can be a little excessive. Even a little bit of uneven road surface can cause uncomfortably loud grinding noise coming from suspension. Other than the noise problem, the car runs smooth. Always fun to drive. I even sometime intentionally miss the exit on the way to work just because I couldn't get enough of driving this car. Love both interior and exterior.

Bought the Civic LX-s because I liked the combination of features that it had for the price. The interior looked much better than the EX, with the Si seats, leather wrapped wheel. Audio is a little weak, but it can be enhanced easily with aftermarket. Only filled up once and with a combination of city and hwy, got 30 mpg. Road noise is a little more than I expected, but ok. Instrument display is great, handling is quick and acceleration is what you should expect for this class. Interesting to note that the Civic is now just about as big as the previous Accord that we had (1993), although it weighs a lot less.

Traded in my old Jeep Cherokee with the CARS program. Fun to drive, great mileage (35 mpg on first two tanks in mixed driving). Sporty handling. I like both the interior design and the exterior. Drove a Corolla and Maxda 3 and liked this best overall.

Over the last 15 years I have owned Audis, BMWs, Acuras and Mitsubishis. I have always been trying to find the right car for the small daily commutes and riding around town on small tasks. I always thought having a luxury car was the answer. I traded in my 2006 Acura TSX for the Civic. I was so surprised by this car. I have just enough creature comforts to get by but the ride is very surprising. The room inside is much bigger than I thought. Overall compared to all my other cars I have owned this is the right match for me. Love the gas mileage, comfort and overall use for this small sedan. As reviewed the Civic does have some road noise but it is no louder than an Acura and BMW is louder

Really fun and peppy ride. The only problem I have is with the driver's seat. I'm 5'8" and find the seat extremely uncomfortable, digging into my leg underneath and my foot falls off the pedal to the right. To be expected for a compact car I guess. I wonder whether it's just me or if others are having similar experiences with the car seat? Also, there is no visibility in the front or back. Parking not easy.

This is truly an excellent car. I am 6'3 and have ZERO comfort problems. There is plenty of space for the driver and passengers. I have read some reviews about people complaining about the parking break... but it's fine. Also, a few people have complained about there being no trunk-release. Are you serious!?!? Cry me a river while I turn a key to open up my trunk. The mileage is great, and the car drives so smoothly. I was very impressed at how smooth the car drives, very little bumps. Also, the road noise is fine.

This is a fantastic car overall, quite comfortable and very well executed. Just gave back leased 2005 civic and bought this one with all the items EX- L model. Surprised at how innovative this car is compared to the 05 and that's meant in the best way possible, if shopping for a new car in this price range or even a slightly higher price range, give the civic a drive, you'll enjoy it. One piece of advice is to make sure you do your research on not just the car but the dealership!

Small Glitch, Otherwise Great

Traded in my 2004 Impala for the Civic LX-S, totally different styles, but, upon coming to the dealer I said: I have only 2 requests, it’s got to be silver and it’s got to be manual. And guess what? They had only one that came in that morning. Loved it unconditionally until it had 134 miles on the odometer, and shut off by itself in 5th gear at 50mph, kept on downshifting trying to get going again, got going again sputtering a little and with almost 300 miles being fine so far, I just need to trust it again, but, it is a blast to drive, no complaints on the goodyears, sticky enough, clutch pedal like butter, love the steering wheel, would just love some alloy rims, but, the price was right.

I have only had this car for a couple of days, but I LOVE it. Fun to drive, sporty, great turn radius, and awesome visibility. It's a great time to buy. It was a steal at only $17,816.

I have been waiting about three months to purchase my new vehicle and I finally decided on a Civic. I had purchased a brand new one back in 2002 and this 2009 is by far a much nicer car, the visibility, comfort and build quality.
