Used 2001 Honda Civic LX 2dr Coupe (1.7L 4cyl 5M) Consumer Reviews
Transmission rebuild at 80K
I bought the Civic for its reputation for reliability; buying an '01 and getting the first year of a new model turned out to be a bad thing. Got a great price on a cute little red coupe that, honest to God, had only been driven 3K miles in 2 years by a little old man. Couldn't believe my luck, loved my car very much and planned to buy another new Civic someday, until the transmission suddenly mangled up and died for no reason at 80000 miles. Three thousand dollars in repair costs that I can't afford. According to what I've read online, the '01's tend to do this to people. Thanks a lot, Honda, you've lost a future customer. Toyota and VW look pretty good right now!
Great Car
I have had this car since 61000 miles and I am at 75000. It is still running strong and is an awesome car with great fuel economy. It is low on hoarsepower but I put a exhaust and intake on it to bring it up and it is faster. Needs tighter suspension and one of my struts has started to leak and it sometimes pops out of second gear but I have a warrenty on it to cover it. Overall it has been a great car and has saved a lot of money in fuel.
HONDA CIVIC LX COUPE
I BOUGHT MY CIVIC WITH 8K MILES, I COULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT A BETTER CAR FOR THE PRICE. IT IS THE PERFECT CAR FOR A STUDENT WITH MANY BILLS TO PAY AND NOT MUCH TIME TO DEAL WITH CAR REPAIRS. ALSO, I LOVE THE WAY IT LOOKS...ADORABLE!
Civic made poorly this year!
My experience with this vehicle has been satisfactory due to the fact that i had to go back to the dealer and get new synchros and new linkages. That was the most unconvenient situation i have ever had with a new vehicle. Tranny work at 20000 miles... Very disappointed, but overall it has been an ok car..wished they built like they did in the years of 1992-95 becuase those years i did not have any problems with...What happened Honda??? and whats up with the cheaper suspension??? macphersons instead?? why??
No Heat On My Feet
Overall it's a good car, but Honda has been less than helpful with service. I have been called a problem by my dealer and told by Honda corporate that having no heat come out of the floor vents isn't a problem (I live in Buffalo,NY - it's a problem). So if you want to stay warm in winter, look elsewhere.
