Is this car really a Honda?

Note to all looking for this car... it falls apart at 80k. Period. I've had to replace the tranny ($2800), another timing belt/water pump/tensioner ($850), shocks ($880), resently. My opinion is that shocks and a tranny should last more than 80k especially on a honda. I almost have more money into this car than I could trade it in for in only the last month. I can't believe Honda would put thier name on this heap...and I maintained mine good too.

I got this Civic as a second car and because of my commute became my primary car. So far, no issues and really good gas mileage (from 37 to 46MPG in AZ) with Octane 87. I believe I have the better one so far according to (www.fueleconomy.gov). So why buy a hybrid? I recently changed the spark plugs which made a huge difference as the car is more responsive than ever. I'm loving it!

This car isn't that bad, but it could use quite a bit of improvement, the handling is horrable, the seats are the most uncomfortable thing Ive ridden in, the front windsheild fogs up evrytime it rains. The only way I feel you can make this car fun to drive, is to modify the hell out of it, start with the suspension.

Transmission rebuild at 80K

I bought the Civic for its reputation for reliability; buying an '01 and getting the first year of a new model turned out to be a bad thing. Got a great price on a cute little red coupe that, honest to God, had only been driven 3K miles in 2 years by a little old man. Couldn't believe my luck, loved my car very much and planned to buy another new Civic someday, until the transmission suddenly mangled up and died for no reason at 80000 miles. Three thousand dollars in repair costs that I can't afford. According to what I've read online, the '01's tend to do this to people. Thanks a lot, Honda, you've lost a future customer. Toyota and VW look pretty good right now!

My experience with this vehicle has been satisfactory due to the fact that i had to go back to the dealer and get new synchros and new linkages. That was the most unconvenient situation i have ever had with a new vehicle. Tranny work at 20000 miles... Very disappointed, but overall it has been an ok car..wished they built like they did in the years of 1992-95 becuase those years i did not have any problems with...What happened Honda??? and whats up with the cheaper suspension??? macphersons instead?? why??
