Tough act to follow
I love my Civic... it' super reliable and economical. The gas mileage is great, and the power's not bad for a four cylinder car.
This is a great car.
I bought my 2000 Civic as a Certified Used Honda and I'm thrilled with it. I love the fact that the powertrain is covered until 2006. That just feels great, even though I'm pretty sure I won't be needing it to be.
My Perfect Match
I've owned this 2000 Civic Si for almost 2 years. So far I have spent exactly $0.00 on repairs. Regular maintenance and rough driving is all I've put into it. Compared to my previous car (1996 Ford Taurus) which had several expensive issues and malfunctions in 3 years of ownership. Driving the Si is a lot more fun and it gets decent mileage even if you get a heavy foot from time to time. (I averaged 28 MPG even with rambunctious driving and 'stop and go' driving. The factory spec is 26/32 MPG. This car is my perfect match. The next closest would be the Celica GT-S which is a little too flashy looking for my taste.
SI = fun!!
This is the best car all around in its class for the price! It has performance, reliability, and fun! I love this car, but thieves love it more.
Honda Civic is great!
This car is amazing...I have 129000 miles and it starts every time right up. The only maintenance I have had to do is the 3 accessory belts and the timing belt, all costing me under 1000 in total (timing belt and water pump was about 750). If you do the scheduled maintenance to this car, it will just go and go. Also great for driving are Michelin x radials for stock rims. The car is quiet and oh so comfortable, however for taller people it is quite a drop into the car...my wife has a Volvo with the most comfortable seats ever...best car purchase I have ever made though.
Five years and still love my Si coupe
Bought new - I drive hard and love the way this red rocket runs. Excellent value for the money. Extremely reliable. I regularly check the resale on this car - a stock Si holds its value as well as a Mercedes.
my honda vs anything
when the first si's came onto the market i told myself i was going to have one some day. the day finally came. this car is so fun do drive. the 8k redline is amazing. when the vtec changes over the car is great. everything about this car is fun. the engine does lack low end torque but it is tstill very fun to drive. i recommend this car over any other import in the price range, if you are lookin for a coupe around 16k i strongly recommend the civic si.
BestBuilt
I bought this car new and it is a justified success story. It always starts and runs smoothly, getting great gas mileage all the while(36-40mph hwy). All I do is change the oil, rotate the tires, and wash it occasionally while driving about 15k mi. per yr. My original tires lasted 49k miles and I will not do a tune-up until 60k miles. Overall, it's a very solid car for a reasonable price. I have friends with over 200k miles on their Hondas, so I expect to keep this one awhile. The only problem I had was a loose front passenger int. door panel which was replaced quickly by the dealer at 5k miles.
It's just amazing!!
I sold my 97 Accord EX coupe due to its weight, and bulkiness, but the fuel economy and reliablilty always amazed me. I chose the 2000 Civic Si over the 05 Mazda3, 03 Civic Si, 05 Corolla XRS, Cobalt, RSX-s, Sentra SE-R V, and the 04 Lancer evo (not enough $$). After owning it for over a year, i've noticed how much of a gas saver this car can be if one is easy with the pedals. I've actually documented 30city/34hwy mpg several times after a tuneup was done. It's also very easy and inexpensive to maintain. So far I have had no problems at all. I'm literally in love with this car! I highly recommend a (92-present year) civic (any model) for a High School/College student or a first time buyer!
Excellent Choice
I bought this car in 2003 with 36K miles on it. I have put 20K miles on it and the car has been great so far. The fuel economy and reliability are outstanding!! I get 33 miles/gal during winter and 36 during summers. I drive 75% of the time on highways. If you are looking for a great car with great mileage in this time where gas prices are high, this is it! The best alternative to an hybrid, that costs less to buy and maintain.
Great Commuter Car!!!
I purchased this car because I wanted a reliable commuter car. Something I could put a bunch of miles on and not worry about anything but general maintenance. I'm pleased with my purchase. I average around 39 mpg. I changed out my standard air filter and added a K&N for a little better breathability. I added A/C for $800 from my Honda dealer, as it does not come standard. This is not the fastest car out there, but I bought it for it's economy--not performance. Besides that, I love my car!
great fun car.
Nothing to complain about with this car. Excellent in all respects; and Honda dealer gives great service.
Why I can't sell my 2000 Civic Si Coupe
Honda really hit a nerve in the 1999-2000 Si Coupes. I will admit that I have done a few suspension tweaks to the rear, upper rear tower brace, and lower rear tie bar. Sportline springs, and opened up the lungs of this little race car with a cold air intake, 4-2-1 header, and cat back exhaust. Short throw shifter, Sorry Honda, 5th gear had me scraping my knuckles on the glove box. Oh and the front seats belong in a Buick. Overall evaluation is that this is still one of the greatest little cars of all time, it makes me smile every time I drive it, and with my specs added is the perfect ticket getter for me.
Great Car, Performance, and Fun!
This is a great car. Fun to drive, it has all the power you need, and it is a good value.
Great Car
I chose the ex because it comes with a v-tech engine and just about power everything. This car drives great. The suspension is tight and gives you confidence around sharp corners because it keeps you firmly planted to the ground (yet it still has a smooth ride). The car's steering is tight and responsive. The engine could use a little more power although it has more than enough power for every-day driving. The v-tech engine is amazing when the v-tech kicks in at 4500 rpm until it redlines at 7000 rpm. This car also has excellent visibility. The air conditioning is ice-cold, and the controls are nicely placed. With a big trunk and fold-down back seats, this makes a great car for everybody.
You Should Have One of These!
Great car. If you don't own a Honda, you should! They are great cars.
HONDA CIVIC SI 6 YEARS LATER
I bought this car in college because I needed a car to get from point A to B and that was different and fun to drive. I have had no problems other than what the previous owner had caused due to performance mods. My mileage in city driving has been about 23 mpg while on the highway at 72 mph it has been 32.5 max.I am very happy with this car and love driving it.
Great car...few problems
Very nice car to drive.Clutch is easy to push in and out.Power is wounderful.suspension is good..could use some work on the performance side. But rides great. One PROBLEM: Transmision mount went bad.
Good Lil' Workhorse Car
This car is classic Honda: wonderful fuel economy and reliability, agile in driving (I'm a stick-shift fanatic so I chose the 5-speed), virtually worry-free, and overall nice looking. Drawbacks: being a small hatchback, naturally, the back seat leaves something to be desired-- barely enough room for kids but I imagine people who buy this car probably don't have kids to begin with. Bottom line: if you like small, zippy, Euro/Japanese cars, this is definitely the one for you. Am a lifelong Honda fan.
Love my SI
I love this car! I have had other civic's and this one is by far the best! the gas milage and the handeling are great. I highly recommend buying this car, if you can get your hands on one!
what a great deal!
this is by far the most fun to drive car i have ever owned and i have had many different cars in my life. the handling is amazing and the power that you get out of a little 1.6 liter engine is unbelievable. plenty of affordable mod's for this car available. i plan to keep this car as long as i can.
Excellent Form of City Transportation.
This is my second Civic. Although my first '98 DX model had some problems with (lots of cheap and fragile interior plastics), everything else outweighted all the negative aspects. My 2000 EX, which patched DX flaws with quality interior and added lots of nice power features including 127hp engine. Two years later, I CANNOT find a singe thing to complain about. Overall, Honda are ideal vehicles for those folks who like to spare their nervous system from factory recalls, getting stranded on the roadside and spending tons of money on parts and labor.
I love love love this little car!
I fell in love with this car as soon as it was released! It has such a sporty look! And the price was just right! And most importantly it's a Honda! I had just cooked my 1988 Accord after having driven it for 350,000 miles. The Civic has been wonderful! Just regular oil changes, tires and one new exhaust. Other than that ,nothing! I'm selling it now, only because we had a baby and the two door is no longer practical. I'm so sad to sell but bought a Honda Pilot to replace it. Gotta love Hondas! They go 4eva
Choice for the cost conscious
If you check these web sites about how much the Civic DR is still worth after some years, you'll know what I mean. I haven't had any mechanical problems with this car. All I had to do was take it to the dealer for routine maintenance and check ups.
trekkie report
had civic h/b since 1978.. since then honda has slowly cheapened it..the paint is my biggest problem it chips so easily
Great car
The civic SI is a great value. You can't beat this fun-to-drve coupe in terms of its combination of economy, performance and reliability. I highly recommend it.
Economical, Sporty, and Reliable!
My car; a 2000 Honda Civic HX coupe w/ CVT (Continuously Variable Automatic Transmission).--After more than 2 years I am still in love with this car! It handles great- quick and responsive! Excellent fuel economy- I average 37mpg! Good ergonomics- all the controls fall easily at hand. The CVT never searches or lurches, and it's much more fun than a traditional automatic. I've never had a single problem with this car!
A modest Civic Si review
I have to say driving the Si all the time is fun. When I first got it, for the 1st 2 days i did nothing but shift at 8000rpm every time!! and guess what it cost me? a full tank of gas that I would have normally used up in 1 1/2 weeks. The Si grabs when i need it and VTEC really helps me if I need a little more power. I love the look of it with the factory front lip and side skirts and still get comments to this day about my Si. 1 thing I wish Honda would have done with the engine is give it more torque. I would have been happy with a extra 20-30 ft-lbs of torque. But otherwise, I love my Electron Blue Pearl Civic Si!
Good Little Car and Fuel Efficient
I bought my Civic in 2000 brand new and it lasted me for 9 years until I got in an accident and totaled it. The battery went out within 3-4 years with about 35K miles, the tires had to be replaced twice (could be because I drove to school through a lot of construction), and the air conditioning went out at about 80K miles (Purchased everything new because it went totally out and I live in Texas so I cannot drive without air). Was a very reliable, dependable and stylish at the time type of car but can be very easily broken into by bad people. They break in through the windows easily and they don't roll down again until you get them fixed. Always do the maintenance on this car and get an alarm
civic EX
I love this car... i average 42 mpg on the highwayand 35 around town. very well thought out car, no worries about breaking down. reliability at its best!
civic si
This is the funniest car i have ever been around its reliable, fun to drive, a great looker that draws lots of attention, is practical, and can scream like no other 1.6 liter n/a car out there can can even come close to and the car handles like a dream i look forward every weekend to heading to the mountains for a fun drive no other car in its class could ever offer.
Awesome Car
This car has always been there for me when I needed it the most. It was always running never broke down, very very few problems and I loved hearing that v-tec scream!
My wonderful Honda!
I traded in my wretched, gas-guzzling, cheaply-constructed Chevy Tracker for a 2000 Civic EX Coupe. Do I love my new car? OH YES! My Civic runs like a top, consistently gets 38 miles per gallon, and looks great. This is a fantastic little car.
High Reving Fun
I've had my Si for 2 years now and I still love the car. Overall, it's a fun car to drive, has got a lot of spirit to it and has been unbelievably dependable. Haven't any problems with it thus far. The driving experience is generally enjoyable, especially when reving up to and past vtec. The car handling is rather nimble and it corners well, particularly for a FWD car. Acceleration is nice through the lower gears and the fifth gear is responsive on highway driving.
corey
this car rocks. i own one. it is a very smooth ride.it is also very quick.
Never Breaks, Great Mileage
Bought this car 3 years ago in 2007 with 100,000 mi. Now up to 140,000. Have not replaced or fixed anything on it and still runs like new. The design is very nice and I like the sporty look of the 2 door coupe with spoiler on the back. Interior is very comfortable and still looks like new after 11 years. My only complaint is the acceleration is pretty weak. I really don't care though because I average 33 MPG driving to and from work in the City of Pittsburgh stuck in major traffic jams every day. On the highway I average 50 MPG using cruise control at 65 MPH. I have averaged 60 MPG before driving to Philadelphia from Pittsburgh. It's amazing how efficient this car is. Would highly Recommend.
Perfect
Too fast... Luv it.
untitled
fun to drive.. nice pep for a 4- banger.. fun to hit vtec.. handles well.. reliable and gets good mileage
Best Car
Car is very comfortable, has great pick up and is great on gas. Perfect 1st car!Inside is comfprtable for 5 and the seats are supportive. Has power everything (LX) and has a great list of standard items like cruise control, a/c, and rear defroster. I would recomend the Civic to anyone looking for a cheep car.
the best civic
in my opinion, this is by far the best civic that honda has sold in the states. even the new si doesn't compare to the 2000 in terms of looks and performance. you get a lot of performance out if this car for $17,000. it even outperforms some cars costing more. i've had mine since 2000 and wouldn't trade it in for anything. i highly recommend this car.
Carefree Civic VP 2000
Reliable and carefree little car. Just remember to do scheduled maintenance and you never worry about anything. Exterior design is not eye-catching but is actually better than most of other brands (except for '00 Jetta).
Awesome.
Love this car. Nothing to hate about it. After all was said and done, I bought the Civic brand new for about $13,000. Mine only has 39,500 miles on it. New tires at 32k, new battery at 38k (but the car was almost 6 years old, so I expected it) Love the STANDARD air, CD, Keyless entry. Add a trunk light and illuminated ignition as standard for all models. Could use more power, but has plenty for Value Package. Make a power package (power mirros, door locks, and windows) an option for the VP model. But no complaining here.. $13,000 for a new Civic?! Awesome I say! Keep up the good work Honda!
2000 Civic Si ROCKS!
Make no mistake, this is a driver's car. The highlight of the car is the VTEC engine, reportedly a result of Honda's involvement in racing...oh, so that's why when you get on it, it sounds like a NASCAR stocker screaming down the backstretch at Watkins Glenn. This car make sounds that are very pleasing to the auto enthusiest, but may be annoying to others. The transmission is so smooth and there is hardly any lean in the corners. This car is hard to drive slow. Even with this excellent performance, the car gets 26 to 31 mpg.
my honda
i have owned my civic for two year and am very happy with my purchase. i have never had any problems what so ever.
No problems!
Imagine getting in a vehicle every day with no problems. NONE. That's been my experience with my 2000 civic EX coupe. As with most Hondas, if you take care of it, it will take care of you! Sometimes I'll notice someone driving a late 70's model civic on the road (no wonder most Honda dealers have the 100,000 mile club). I'm leasing my 2000 civic, and will probably miss it when it goes back next year. I've considered getting the Jetta next year, but when I hear about the window problems with the jettas and all of the other annoying problems with the vws, it of course gives me second thoughts. If I'm smart, I'll get another Honda!
Good Car, Crappy Windows
This car has served me well. I have had no engine problems whatsoever, but the power windows are defective and barely work. My 5-speed is fun to drive. Low-end power is nonexistent but there is a nice surge of power once you push it up over 4500 rpm, which is the sweet spot for Honda 4-cylinder engines anyway. Handling is crisp and the ride is smooth although noisy at highway speeds. Front seats are unsupportive for long trips. CD player has started to skip badly despite repeated cleanings of the laser lens.
Civi Si
First off, if i know that the "Si" meant steal it I would have bought a daewoo. Other than that its a blast to drive. What really sold me was the fact that I could get some sporty performance or decent gas mileage (haven't hit above 32 mpg yet), depending on my mood. Also it handles really well for being FWD. I also really liked that they put in the B16A2 engine instead of boring D-series.
Almost the perfect car
Very hard to find vehicles..get one while you can.Took me about 4-5 months to find one that I really want and is in excellent conditions.Wouldn't trade it for another car.
Good but not great
Poor pick up for such a light car. The body design will not bode well when in accident. I had a small accident and had to have the entire right front body replaced (I hit a small animal). I do recommend for city driving and gas useage. This was my first car, I am not looking to make it a permanent fixture at my house.
Not a bad day in this car
I think the car speaks for itself. 1.6 liter engine that puts out 160 hp. Hard to find another car that does that. Handles with confidence. Very comfortable. Extremely well built and reliable. I have driven this car hard but it seems to have been designed for it. The redline is at 8000 rpm and it makes its max horsepower at 7800.
