Sad Day For Me!

I purchased this '95 in 1998 with 35k miles on it. Today (2/13/08)is my final day of ownership (going to the salvage yard) 205k miles and the timing belt/water pump came apart while wife was driving full road speed, so the valves are probably bent/shot. I had replaced timing belt and pump at 160k, so they failed before their time! Car value not worth fixing the damage, plus other things were needing repair also. Loved the car!

My Last Honda

I don't usually write reviews on anything but want to save someone money and a headache. Check these cars over good if you really want one. I purchased a 95 Accord LX from an estate with 102,000 miles. Garage kept, original owner, elderly owned car that was never abused. Car still looks like new. Brought it home, charged the AC only for it to work 2 days and have the compressor seize up. Cost about $350 for a new one. Timing belt, water pump, tensioners etc. were original. Had the timing belt service done at a cost of $800. Failed state inspection for 2 broken motor mounts and a ripped cv axle boot. Brake line also broke while in for service. Rain runs in around the drivers door and puddles on the rug. Clock usually doesn't work. Transmission is delayed when shifting into gear from out of park. Transmission shifts hard when driving. Fluid is clean. This is the best part. Drove the car around locally for about a month after buying it. Took it an hour from home only to hear a LOUD ENGINE KNOCK when pulling a hill. If you hold the rpms around 1800 you can hear a clatter in the bottom end of the motor, almost sounds like wristpin noise. 3 mechanics verified it is bottom end motor noise. Car isn't worth pulling the motor and having it overhauled. I already have close to $4,500 all together in the car. This is my last foreign car. After endless problems with two Volkswagens and a Hyundai and now a Honda, I went back to driving my faded 30 year old Cadillac with 200,000 miles but no mechanical issues.

Best car I have ever owned

I purchased this car with 275000 miles and it has never let me down. I had one with an automatic transmission, at the time of purchase I was worried about an old Honda automatic but it shifted just fine. Power is pretty good for a 4 cyl non vtec with a slush box. I loved the interior of this car. basic but well thought out, the rear seats fold completely flat if you need to haul a larger item or sleep after a night of drinking. My wife loved the cargo cover so people couldn’t see what you have in the back. I just sold the car at 311000 miles and I know I will miss it. One thing about these cars is they tend to go through after market distributors I replaced it two times in the years I had it but other than that it was a solid little car.

Another great Honda Accord story

Purchased this car used to be second car and save on gas from SUV. Third Accord of this style generation. Although this car required more repairs then my others, it's still a great running and looking car. Fuel economy is always very impressive. Great ergonomics, quality craftsmanship and materials, fun 5 speed manual, good handling and ride combo. Super dependable with decent maintenance.
