Trailer Hauler
I purchased too pull our travel trailer. the old truck 2015 1500 struggled to keep up with highway speeds. This one pulls the trailer great no problem keeping up with Highway speeds. The only issue is the DEF requirements. about every thousand miles it takes a little more than a gallon to keep it topped off. Needs a better monitoring system. The diesel engine runs great and gets better fuel economy than the gas when pulling the trailer.

Black & Chrome Beauty
I’ve driven many diesel powered pickups here at home and abroad for over 35 years. The new, 6.6L Diesel Duramax/Allison, is the center of Sierra’s Universe and maybe a home run for GM against its competition. The new hood scoop design brings conversation at every refueling stop. To bad Edmunds didn’t include any photos of this hood, on their review. This is a large pickup and not a sports car but folks this truck is a thrill to drive. It handles the road seconded to no other heavy duty pickup I’ve ever driven and again I’ve driven many. My wife, (5’ 115lbs), drives this vehicle with ease and can even parallel park. It’s quite ( wind, and tire noise is minimal and no diesel clatter! ),the interior is cavernous, the leather is top grade, the control knobs are large and easy to manipulate, storage and cup holders are everywhere, the infotainment system has been upgraded regularly and the voice recognition has improved. The torque this engine produces from approximately 1650rpms and flat throughout the rpm range makes towing my 12,000lb travel trailer with ease. I can’t wait to go out west and enjoy the Rocky Mountains. I only have 10k miles on it, I may add another review in the future but today I have to hit the road in my 2017 GMC 2500HD Diesel Sierra Denali. I did give it a couple of 4 Stars because, it didn’t have lights in the glove boxes and center console and no automatic up/down lighted running boards but the was easily rectified.

Awesome value / great truck
Pulling my camper is great. Pulling large travel trailer is a dream. Hardly know it's back there. Great mpg. Diesel is great. Empty I'm getting 23 mpg. Pulling getting 15 mpg. Previous truck getting 9 mph. Rides real good. 5k miles on it now. No issues so far. My 2018 GMC Sierra 2500 HD crew cab has been just awesome. 22000miles on it now. It's boss on the open road. Hills are no problem. Rolls up down hills with ease. Other trucks going by are in passing gear mode. I'm purring down the road. I'd buy it again.

stuck in the desert
So this is a replacement of a Chevy 3500 I purchased (that was bought back after 18 months). Primary purpose of purchasing is to haul a tiny house (12K lbs) across country 2 x a year between CA and Carolinas. Have made trip 5 times across and broken down 3 x. Ugh. Currently sitting at a friends house in CA while truck remans unrepaired in AZ and have been waiting nearly 3 weeks for a replacement part (believe fuel pump) that they can't locate. Have had to incur hotel expenses as well as cost to tow my tiny house and additional expenses as being stuck out in desert. GM hasn't been helpful, took over a week to reach the GM rep who I called daily. Very frustrating after paying over $70K and it is the 2nd vehicle.

Monster Truck
An incredibly powerful and proven truck. Super happy with every aspect of the truck except the dated built in nav functionalities. It is too cumbersome to use while driving. Full cell phone integration overcomes this. Diesel/Allison tyranny combo is powerful but quiet. Denali trim makes for a very comfortable ride. My friends said it is like riding in a giant very comfortable luxury car. Lots of places to plug in all of your mobile gadgets. A year later, and no regrets. Able to haul anything I have needed to, made several long trips over 1000 miles each. I put bigger AT tires on and it's even better

Update: I have owned this truck for 5 years now and still haven't had a single issue with it. This is my tow vehicle. No issues at all. Very pleased with the truck.. Truck has been flawless so far. I haven't had any issues and it tows my camper with confidence.

1st American Built truck in 20 years
This is an excellent truck, I was looking for a diesel from all the American trucks, I test drove all the trucks and read about all of them. All the reviews on GMC Denali HD2500 Diesel Duramax were dead on. I only had one issue when I first purchased the truck which was a leak with my master cylinder. They fixed it without hesitation and also painted the part of the frame below the master cylinder that took out the paint on the frame. I purchased the truck on November 30th, 2016 in Idaho, it now has 42,000 miles, we go back and forth between California and into Canada and everywhere in between quite a bit. First the interior, it's an extremely quiet truck, very minimal road noise. The Denali package is very comfortable, especially when it's blowing snow -26 degrees, you have the heated seats, heated steering wheel and just a comfy truck to drive. The only gripe about the A/C or heating system would be no vents in the back, it would be nice to have that and also more USB outlets in the rear for my kids while traveling long distances. The Duramax engine is an excellent motor, with the Allison transmission, it has lots of power and can pass multiple 16 wheelers without even sweating. The power band is very smooth as is the shifting on the transmission, we recently purchased a property in the NW and had to do some 4 wheeling to get to some of the lakes, it's a big truck but wasn't an issue to get back to these places. The sweet spot on this motor is 75mph, it will get 20 mpg, not bad for a 7,700 lbs truck. I still have the original Good year tires, they still have good life but will need get some winter tires for where we will be. I haven't bought an American car or truck for almost 20 years because of past bad experience with quality, I think all the American brands have really improved and so has GM brand, no complaints, great truck and if you're looking to haul a 5th wheeler or horse trailer, this will not be a problem.

Life long GM fan is loosing faith.
Some painted bumpers do not hold up. Eight months old and my bumper has no less than twenty chips. Some as big as a quarter. The dealer did not want to stand behind it and said don't bring it back here... Wow.

Don't be fooled by the long driveline warranty
I have 48,000 miles on my Duramax Denali. I recently had a check engine light come on. P0495. I brought it to the dealership, they said I need a new fan clutch. However, the fan clutch, literally on the front of my engine, is not part of the driveline warranty. They charged me for the diagnosis and want to charge me $1,000 for what should be a warranty claim. I'm looking at Dodge now after only buying GM vehicles since my first in 1994.

Who says Valentines are always red!
Picked up a stone blue 2016 2500 Denali from Bayer Motors in Comanche TX. Best truck ever, as my wife says. 500 mile drive to dealer was definitely worth it. Looking for a big loaded truck? Call Jeremy. It’s been a year and this truck has been a real workhorse. Pulling trees and clearing/hauling are no problem. Has been our best truck to date

Disappointed
I bought my truck as a Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle almost 2 years ago with the primary purpose of towing a 35' travel trailer. It had about 16k miles on it when I bought it and currently has less than 45k miles. We went with the diesel (model in the review says 6.0L since diesel wasn't listed as an option) since we eventually want to get a heavier 5th Wheel camper. I'm now considering getting rid of it due to the number of times I've had to return for service. The check engine light has come on 3 times in the past 2 months (EGR valve, mass airflow sensor and DEF heater). The truck left us stranded out of town with the camper when the mass airflow sensor failed. Besides the check engine light, there was a power steering fluid leak (known by GM due to Service Bulletin) and some sort of known issue with a bad weld on the diesel exhaust that apparently causes excessive smoke. I'm anticipating that being a problem one of these days. Not sure that I can rely on this truck for what I bought if for.I'm extremely disappointed so far and since this is my first time purchasing a GM product, I'll likely not return as a customer in the future.

Lots of wows but some why did they do this's?
Be sure to take this truck on an extended test drive. I was in the car business for 30 years and must be a slow learner but didn't heed my own advice. The cabin is very nice and comfortable which is important because we are driving long distances pulling a 5th wheel. Performance and towing capability are good but I think the published tow rating is optimistic. I am pulling a 14,500# unit and feel I am undersized. GMC rates this truck to pull 17,100- it's a diesel. The engine and trans are fine but the suspension is light. My other sore spot is the the sloppy steering. It's light without an load and terrible when pulling. I wouldn't recommend this product and will be not keeping it for long.

Wanted to love it but....
I really wanted to love this truck. Impressive interior, nice ride and loads of power in the Duramax diesel and excellent transmission. Unfortunately inside of 50,000 miles I have had to replace a NOX sensor, DEF injector, and had the fuel level sensor blink out and come back on 500 miles later. The worst though, is the REGENERATION problem. I have had the particulate filter regeneration mode come on 4x in the last 7500 miles. Twice it had to go to the dealer for a "manual" regeneration. The truck went into reduced power mode and left me pulling a trailer in the Rocky Mountains at 30mph up hills. Sadly it had the potential to be a great truck for towing and long distance driving but if it cant do what it is designed to do than its pretty much useless.

New Duramxx
Folks were nice and knowledgeble. Unfortunately i asked for a loaner pick up or a large SUV and was stuck with the smallest Buick SUV that i'd ever seen. Not the dealers fault, but there is still a tapping in my Duramax engine that they say is normal, this is the noisiest Duramax i've ever owned, and i've had 5 of them. All the others were a pleasure to drive with plenty of power, this one is pathetic. The only reason i'm keeping it is because the new Ford front ends are ugly, as soon as Ford changes their headlights i'll be getting rid of this GMC and going back to a Ford F250 King Ranch. It's very doubtful that this will be published but as stated below, you have my permission to publish... Still same issues with a little over 16,000 miles, still will buy a Ford next time. Have 26,000 miles on this truck now. Still has tapping in Engine and still waiting for Ford to update their front end look, when that happens this GMC is history.

Been a lemon
Mine has been in the shop at least 2 times a year for the last 5 years Lots of emissions issues level switch for def tank failures and on coolant tank. Fuel problems with fuel system not coming on and problems with computer. After I purchased while still under factory warrenty dealer was so cheap the would not replace factory decals pealing off truck. GMC and chevy have become the garbage of the US auto market.

Love this truck!!
Bought this truck with the Duramax with the intention of eventually buying a travel trailer or 5th wheel. Then covid hit. I work from home now and the trailer idea went out the window. Went to the dealership the other day to potentially down size to a 1500 but after some thought realized I can't give up this beast so I let them know we don't have a deal.

Big money small value
I’ve been stranded with (3) different breakdowns on trips in this truck. Had to replace starter, alternator, ac (twice) Maybe GM could focus more on a truck that doesn’t brake down constantly instead of a truck I can let go of the steering wheel and clap my hands
