Car is beautiful and well appointed, but to be clear it's well short of "luxury" no matter what the dealer tries selling you on. Maybe I've just been lucky with other brands, but I never had to bring my Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz, Audi. Even when. On top of that, when I've had "warranty issues" with those vehicles they were ALWAYS very responsive - you will not get that with this brand. Haven't even had the oil changed on this thing yet and had to cring it in to have the AC fixed. Besides having to wait 3 weeks to get in at the Hyundai dealership to have this looked at, all they did was charge the system because apparently there was no refrigerant in the system. It was cold when I drove home from the dealership but the next time I got in the car it was blowing 95 degree F air on a 75 degree day. Given the price of new vehicles I personally feel you shouldnt have issues within the first 5k miles but I get it, sometimes you're just the unlucky one who ends up buying the vehicle with an issue. Service standards are anything but luxury. We own a Hyundai.

Purchased a GV70 in July. With less than 5k miles, transmission issues. They kept the car 5 weeks. Finally get my car back and it won't go over 30 mph. We have it sent back to the dealership and they are trying to find the problem. While the car was being towed noticed the headlight was full of water. 62,000 car with less than 6,000 miles. Working with Genesis for a buy back but not feeling like they will take any responsibility. Lesson learned.

So let me start off by saying this won 2022 car of the year. I bought the Sport Prestige in July and since then have put over 10,000mi on it without a single issue. I don’t know why that one star review is even here because the fit and finish on this car is better than most cars you can buy for over 100k. And let’s not even get started on material choices and features by the Germans for their price point. Anyhow I I would recommend this car to anybody looking for a small sport crossover. Base model or top trim the value and quality is immense! The GV 70 didn’t win 2022 car of the year over all the German rivals for nothing. 🤷‍♂️

I signed a 3 year lease for my 2022 GV70 back in September of 2021. I remember going to the Genesis dealership and instantly falling in love with them. The car is visually stunning (I have the Matte Green color) on the outside and the inside is just as nice. Every bell and whistle you can imagine and nowhere near the cost of a Mercedes, Porsche or BMW. I've owned just about every luxury and non-luxury brand. This was far and away the best car and I decided for the first time in my life, I would be buying the car at the end of my lease. That is until 4 months ago when something seemed "off." I would be on the highway cruising along at 70mph and all of a sudden the car would slow down and start stalling. After about 5 seconds, it would go back to normal. This went on for 3 months. I took it to the dealership and they ran a diagnostic and said nothing was wrong. A few weeks later, I was driving with my family and the car suddenly died. No warning lights, nothing...it just shut off. To make matters worse, I was on a very busy street. We're lucky we didn't get into an accident. About 30 seconds later, the car started but when I got home, I couldn't put it into park. Only then did the check engine light come one. I had to shut the car off because none of the controls were working. I ended up towing it to the dealership and they told me there was an issue with the fuel injector. That was a 2 week ordeal and when I got it back, it seemed to be fine...until the AC went out about a week later. On the 4th of July we were heading over to a friends house and the car would not cool down. I shut the car off and restarted it again but it was blowing nothing but hot air. As you can imagine, I was very irritated. What are the odds that these major issues happen within a few months of each other? I've had cars for 5 years with no issues. I only have 13k miles now after almost 2 years! The problems started happening around 10k miles. I was sooooo disappointed because I truly love everything about this car but I can't trust it. I've never had a car have so many issues with so few miles. That's a bad sign and THANK GOODNESS IT'S A LEASE! I think Genesis spent all of their money on the outside appearance and interior of the car. The engine? Not so much. They had so cut back somewhere because this should be a 80-90k car. If it's too good to be true, it usually is. I would have been a "lifer" for this brand but now they will get a customer who will never be a Genesis owner ever again and will let everyone I know to avoid buying one (unless you love seeing your service advisor at the dealership on a regular basis). The "kicker" was it took over a month to fix the AC because there were numerous cars with the same problem. And the fuel injector issue? There were 8 cars ahead of me with the exact same problem as well. I realize 2022 was the first model year for the GV70. There are going to be issues the first time around. But to have major engine problems with not even 10k miles on the car? That's a serious, serious problem. I get it if I'm approaching 40k+ miles. The worst part was when the car just died while I was driving. That's not only scary, but potentially fatal. Something like this happened to me years ago when I bought the Jaguar XF after it just came out. After having the car less than a year, it died while I was driving. It scared the crap out of me and I will never buy a Jaguar again. I don't trust them. Unfortunately, that's how I feel with the Genesis GV70. Just like the Jaguar, it's a beautiful car with every option you can imagine...but the reliability is garbage. Genesis is now on my "never again in my life" list. I thought I found my dream car and a brand I would be loyal to for the rest of my life...but Genesis decided to put "lipstick on a pig" with the GV70. What a shame.

3.5 Litre Sport Prestige looks gorgeous, drives fantastic and appears great value. However: I hit a pot hole within the first month of owning mine. The tire burst, ok; but the suspension strut broke away from its mount and came up through the engine. I thought that seemed excessively catastrophic for hitting a pot hole. The car was completely undriveable. It then spent almost two months back at the dealer, because the dealer was unable to get the parts, and the tire!. (Seriously, 2 months?!). 3 months later the drivers side wiper starts vibrating and screeching. The dealer says nothing can be done about that. It is torture any time it rains. 5 months after that, there is an alarming vibrating sound behind the passenger side rear wheel. A large plastic piece of undercarriage appears to be falling off. Around the same time, the wind (more accurately a strong breeze) catches the drivers door and pulls it out of alignment...... the door does not now fit properly and makes an alarming clunk when opened. 1 year in with the fully loaded GV70 and the build quality and stamina of the car are highly questionable. Mine lives in the Hamptons and has a fairly sedate and quiet life, but it's falling to bits... It's a shame, but I guess the corners Genesis had to cut to sell it for $67,000 are starting to expose themselves.
