Marginal Quality
So far in the first 6000 miles I have had to take the car in 3 times. Once in the first 25 miles for an alignemnt issue and again at 4700 miles for a tire failure and again at 5400 miles for a tire sensor monitor failure. The first repair was taken care of okay. Had to wait 4+ hours for the repair as the had to take the front end of the car apart to get the alignemnt right. The 2nd and 3rd issue(s) Ford has failed to stand behind thier warranty or their product...based on my early on experience with this car I would recomend looking at some of the foreign competition before getting one.
Better but still has flaws
The only thing that I really have to complain about is the ride quality. I have driven a lot of cars with "performance" suspensions. This Taurus rides a lot like an SUV. Ford, you need to do some more calibration work. Shock rebound is weak. Roll stability under road undulations is just like an SUV. If the target market was to satisfy an SUV owner, you hit the mark. If the target is to reach buyers of a Honda, BMW or Mercedes, you are far off the mark. Rest of the car feels a lot like the Volvo S80 platform. Good European feel but not up to the best of Germany or Japan. Don't get me wrong. This is the best Taurus I've driven. It's at 9/10th ready.
Massive Consul
I like everything about the new car except that massive center consul.. In my opinion way to big as my legs hit it while driving and it's a nuisance. Also bring back the bench seat option. More room in the front seat for people hta are over 6' tall nad wider than average.
Great Features......But the ride is not
The car comes loaded with all the Bells and whistles which were the attraction. I mean who doesn't want all the safety feature as options. But @ 46 K the ride should be much tighter up front. The Power assist steering might be the problem. Alot of oversteer. The power for a turbo revs at a very high rate. Not as quick out of the blocks as I would have hoped. Definitely not a performance sedan like the audi 6 or BMW 5 x series sedan. Alas the economy prevented me from going in that direction. i miss my european ride, controlled, tight, and exceptionally quick. Ford has done a great job with the vehicle but has a ways to go to compete with the big three BMW, Mercedes, Audi.
Beautiful and very powerful
I bought this car to replace my 2003 Maxima. The one thing that brought me in was the attractive design and the powerful engine. This car is big and heavy, but the engine makes it fly. The fuel economy is impressive considering the size and weight of the car. It's very comfortable, very smooth and very quiet. I'm very impressed with Ford.
