Fusion wins out after testing 10 sedans

After testing and ranking all available midsized sedans in this class in order to replace my wife's 2013 Subaru Impreza we chose the a 2016 Fusion 2.0 liter AWD This was not my 1st choose as I preferred the Mazda 6 GT for it's MPG, handling, and looks. However after receiving a sudden snow storm here in Montana we both agreed that AWD would be a must. We then test drove 2.0 liter with AWD and immediately realized that it matched the Mazda in handling and looks. We recognized that we would take a significant hit in MPG,( I own a 2013 F-150 with an eco-boost and have yet to meet the advertised MPG). After running some quick numbers the additional cost for gas will only cost us about $25 per mouth, not much to pay for the power of the 2.0 liter and the safety of AWD. Ford was really ready to deal and we paid about $8,000 below the MSRP. We have driven this car about 1000 miles so far and love it. It is very solid and the intelligent AWD results handling on par or better then anything test drove. During our break-in drive we went over several very icy passes and this AWD system out performed the Subaru's we have owned actually pulling us around corners. The 2.0 liter's performance and smoothness matched the V-6s we tested in the Camry and Accord and far out performed the 2.5 4cyl in the Mazda 6. I'm 6'4" and must actually slide the front seat up a little to get comfortable. The rest of the interionic is very nicely done and competes well with the best of the class. The stereo upgrade is outstanding and the climate system is also very easy to use. We now have over 6000 miles on this car and have grown to like it more every time we take a trip in it. I have discovered the sport mode and this make driving this car much more fun. The throttle and the transmission are reprogramed for better response and the change is very noticeable especially when I use the paddle shifters. We live in Western Montana and there are many winding road just minutes away and we seek out the curves whenever we can. In the recent past I have owned a Mazda Miata and the Mazda Speed 3 and while the handling is nearly comparable the overall ride is significantly better. We have had no mechanical issues at all with this car and have been able to see 30 mpg on the highway at 80 mph. We put the all wheel drive to good use this winter especially on roads to ski areas and although I'm a believer in winter tires we stuck with the all seasons that came on it and never had an issue. Having owned several Subaru's and all wheel drive SUVs it would put this AWD system against any of them and it excels in corners on icy roads. We have had the Fusion for a year now with 10,000 miles and still love the car. The gas mileage has increased somewhat with break in and better discipline with the gas pedal by easing up on the desire to feel the power of the turbo. We just received a foot of snow on top of icy roads and the car is handling it easily reinforcing our decision to go with all wheel drive. The heating system is fantastic and even in sub-zero temperatures it will heat the interior in 5 minutes. We have 2 years left on the lease and are pretty certain that we will buy it after the lease expires. The new Fusion sport with AWD and 345 HP may change our (my) mind as it takes an already great car to a whole differ level.

Great Fusion & Price

2016 Fusion SE with tech package and 2.5 Engine. Read a lot of reviews on Fusion before buying. Looked at other cars, Hyundai, kia, Cheverolet and Nissian. Most reviewers said the 2.5 engine was under powered. Most so called pro reviwers have a lead foot. So I asked people who had one and everyone said, they have not had no problem with the 2.5 power. I also compared the 2.5 to my Escape SE with the 1.6 turbo and could only tell very little difference in power. So overall the Fusion SE with 2.5 is a great deal. Still do your research, and remember owners will always be your best source for an accurate reviews. People who do the reviews based upon a rental car, does not know the history of the car and how it has been treated. In summary, We love our Fusion SE and would buy another, if ever needed and would highly reccommened the Fusion with the 2.5 to everyone.

Did my research - picked Ford again

William Crites, 02/06/2016

I do a lot of research before I buy anything, usually spend more time on the internet reading reviews and visiting car sites than I do at the dealerships. I narrowed my search down to the Audi A4, Mazda6, Hyundai Sonata, and the Ford Fusion. Drove them all, ran the numbers, and the Fusion came out on top. So far (its been a month), I'm really happy with my decision. Things I love about the car: unbelievably quiet and smooth ride; interior details like the navigation and entertainment console; comfortable seats; the exterior design is awesome , white platinum paint, and great leg/head room for a 6'3" guy. Its really a fun car to drive too, plenty of power, but again, its the quiet smooth ride that sold me. Things I like about the car: fuel economy (about 31 average right now), perks that come with the Luxury package. Things I wish it had: the a/c and heater controls are up/down arrows - but everyone keeps trying to use the radio knobs to adjust the temperature. Also, the seat heaters require you to reset them each time the car is turned off - my other cars retain the seat heater setting until you change it, or turn it off yourself. I also would have liked a push button start; auto lock/unlock via the door handles like the Titanium version. My son's Scion has those features - come on Ford! That should be part of the Luxury package. But all things considered, I would have bought this car again without question. I got a better deal on the Ford, and my family loves it as much as I do. I think the SE is a better deal than the Titanium, you seem to get almost the same options, just at a better price.

Ford Fusion SE 2.0 Ecoboost Turbo, FWD, Awesome!

Fusion Fan, 04/01/2016

I love this car, got it loaded up with the Luxury Package w/18-inch alloy wheels, Technology/Nav Package, and 2.0 liter Ecoboost turbo, for under $27K including tax, tag, and title after rebates. I simply couldn't find comparable equipment and performance at this price point for any other midsize sedan. I imagine you can get it even cheaper now with the new 2017s hitting the lots. Gas mileage is great if you drive sensibly, but mashing on the pedal to go into boost is too fun sometimes. Very quick car, and comfortable on potholed DC metro area streets. It handles all bumps well. Highway driving really opens up the gas mileage, get over 30 mpg easily at 75 mph. I drove and like the Mazda6 and Honda Accord, but the Ford just ended up being the best blend of performance, luxury, and technology. I think the Ford interior is of better quality than the Honda Accord EX-L, and the Fusion is just simply better to look at. The Mazda6 is underpowered, though the chassis is tuned well. We already own one Kia, so I opted not to go the Kia Optima SX Turbo/Hyundai Sonata Sport route. Neither one of those got good performance reviews for the turbo models. I love this Ford, and get compliments all the time. Folks tell me it looks like a 4-door Mustang. My kids think it's cool. I did upgrade the headlights, as the stock halogens were pretty weak. The owner's manual shows you how to replace the bulbs, it's easier than it looks. Overall awesome car at a reasonable price.

Get Real New Car Value

I bought a 2016 1.5L Turbo SE Fusion with navigation in November and I was pleasantly pleased with the purchase experience. The car handles wonderfully and is comfortable both front and back. It is both economical and peppy, and really is a bargain vs. marginally more "upscale" vehicles. I have owned Lincolns, Acuras , Cadillacs, BMWs, ect. and this, in my opinion, is thus far, and by far, the best new car value I have ever obtained, even though may not be considered a "luxury " brand or model.

2.0 SE FWD Deep Impact

Tech, NAV, and Appearance options. Overall, I'd say best bang for the buck at $7800 off MSRP. Powerful 2.0 engine with great handling, and the tech package gives a better radio speaker combo. At 2100 miles worst mpg was 20mpg on the first tank; best was 31mpg all highway. One negative is a warped rear window, but I'll live with it. Storage is lacking, and although others say the car is quiet compared to what they previously owned, I can't say the same as the 18" Goodyear's aren't quiet. The too far forward headrests are poor for long highway trips as I sit upright instead of reclined, so a neck pillow is recommended. I find the seat bottom angled too high and my legs are sore after a long trip. The majority of my driving time is city although the majority of the miles is highway. I shopped Camry, Avalon, Charger, Legacy, Outback, F150, and Maxima. The Fusion gave me the most for the least. I had a Bluetooth hiccup once, but restarting the vehicle fixed it. Would I buy it again? Yes. Follow-up 9-7-17: I finally found a comfortable headrest position, but the cloth seats I still detest on long drives. Average mpg is 25.2, however my last 3 tanks have been 18, 19, & 20 mpg in mostly city driving. So far no recalls or warranty issues. Lots of torque steer in my FWD. The electronics & NAV have been excellent. The factory tires are slick in the rain so I drive with a light foot on wet roads. On the flip side the tires are quiet on asphalt roads only. Best mpg 32 highway/worst mpg 18 city. Would I buy again - absolutely. Best bang for the buck.

Ford Fustion Titanium is the car for me

I've leased this vehicle for 3 years. If my residual was not so high, I'd purchase it outright. The interior is roomy, comfy (especially on long trips) and averages 37 mph on the interstate. The trunk room is absolutely fantastic. I'd like the instrumentation to be a bit more user friendly. Other than that, I have no complaints. I'm disappointed that Ford is phasing out the Fusion Titanium. The Fusion is as small as I want to go and I'm not that keen on having a SUV again.

Final Update - 62,000

2016 Ford Fusion SE 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 6A)

My 2016 1.5 liter Fusion SE was one of the best car's I've ever owned. After 62,000 miles without any maintenance problems, continued great gas mileage (around 38 highway on average over that many miles) and only some minor annoyance issues already mentioned in my previous reviews, last week I gave the '16 Fusion to my son and bought an '18 Fusion SE. I can only hope this one gives me the same worry-free ownership experience I enjoyed with the last one. ================== 2 Year/50,000 Update Got an email prompt from Edmunds to update my review so here goes: 2 Year/50,000 mile update. Still a great value. No further lug nut issues, still have the dash rattle but have learned to live with it (didn’t ask the dealer to try and isolate - at $84/hr). No maintenance issues, remains very dependable. I replaced the OEM Michelin A/S Energy Saver tires at 49,000 after some hydroplaning at highway speed but still had at least another 5K of good tread. I guess those tires live up to their design claim as I’m now getting about 3-4 mpg/gallon less with the new tires (down to “only” 34 - 36 hwy). Other than that I’m still very happy with my Fusion and my passengers continue to comment on the comfort of the interior and smoothness of the ride. Because of the high miles I drive annually (and because I get the Ford A/Z plan discount) I usually get a new car every 3 years but I just may hang onto my Fusion for an additional year or two especially since Ford’s decided to discontinue the model. As a side note for used car shoppers, I stopped in to check out the new 2018 models and learned the Fusion power plant/drivetrain was “tweaked” in 2017 and models after 2016 get a tad less EPA mpg than earlier models if gas economy is a primary concern. (And think twice about black leather interior. It looks nice and is easy to keep clean but it can get hot in the summer sun.) ========================== Original review: 2016 Fusion SE, 1.5 liter turbo, owned for 18 months and 44,000 miles. I won't repeat in detail what most reviews have addressed: The Fusion is a very nice care and a great value. It's comfortable, easy to maintain, and fuel efficient if driven conservatively -- I routinely get between 38-40 mpg @ 60 mph of state highway driving. There is a driver's side dash rattle that developed at about 40K point that I can't seem to isolate which is driving me a little nuts but overall I'm happy with my Fusion. HOWEVER, my main reason for this review is to highlight a problem many might not be aware of with the Fusion (and other Ford models) and that is the lousy lug nuts which can (and do) deform. Rather than use a solid steel lug nut Ford uses a steel core with a chrome or aluminum cap. With repeated removal (like when rotating your tires) the caps deform to the point where you cannot get the lug nut wrench (or a 19mm deep well socket) over the nut. If this happens and you get a flat out in the middle of nowhere, you're screwed. You won't be able to change the tire and will have to call for a tow. Ford blames people using an air gun and over torquing the nut. It also tends to happen when folks use a 12-point socket instead of a 6-point socket. But I always use a torque wrench and hand torque to Ford specs and it happened to me. Fortunately I discovered it while the vehicle was sitting in the drive and not on the shoulder of I-75 with a flat. My advice is to simply replace all of your lug nuts with one-piece nuts at your earliest convenience! You can get a set of 20 for about $30 and it's well worth the peace of mind. I went to three auto parts stores in my town (NAPA, Carquest, O'Reillys) and they were all aware of the Ford lug nut issue. In August 2017 a class-action lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan to make Ford own up and replace the nuts (google Ford swollen lug nuts).

I can honestly say that this car is a tremendous value purchase. Traded in my 2007 AWD fushion, which was a great car that gave me very few problems, and purchased the 2016 AWD Titanium. Between the trade in and rebates I think I got a great deal for this car. What a car! Beautiful exterior and interior and lots of bells and whistles. Driving and handling are superb and it is an incredibly quiet cabin. I'm pleasantly surprised by how much power the 2.0 Turbo engine has too. It has much more pep and is better refined than my old V6 sel model. Gas mileage for an AWD vehicle is very good with about 28mph so far. The sony sound system is top notch too! This car is a lot of fun to drive. I make up excuses to go on errands so I can drive around. A friend of mine recently bought a BMW 5 series for 55K and was stunned by the quality of this car. When I told him how much I paid for it he wanted to bring his back. I may sound like I work for Ford but I do not. I work in finance and I look for value when I make a purchase and IMO there is not much better pure value out there. If you are looking for a mid-size sedan you must test drive the fusion, preferably an SE or Titanium model. You will not be disappointed. UPDATE - after 18 months owning this car I still feel great about my purchase. 22,500 miles later and absolutely no problems. I just make sure get oil changed every 3000-5000 miles. I take care of the car so it still looks great inside and out. Great ride and great in bad weather. I'll say it again. If you are in the market for a mid size sedan you need to test drive this car.

I bought a silver metallic 2016 Ford Fusion - What an awesome car, it handles so well, it is a beautiful looking sleek car. That did fashion it after the James Bond Aston Martin. I have the se with the turbo boost. Its cool and fast but by the time the boost kicks in you have to slow down. Its very comfortable, easy to wax,and I have gotten a lot of compliments on the cars sporty appearance. The damn fuel mileage is incredible. I at times do not believe the gas mileage I get? There is a ton of room inside, I'm 6'-3" and have plenty of room. I would recommend the Ford Fusion to anybody in the market for a reliable, cool, safe car. Last thing the sound system is awesome, I blast my C/D's and The Sirus Radio Stations all the time.

This is my second Fusion, I had a 2007 that I put 205000 trouble free miles on. Never had a single problem with it, only routine maintenance such as oil changes, brakes twice, tires ... a few bulbs. Traded it in only because it had 200K on it and I wanted a hybrid. I have been driving the 2016 Hybrid Titanium for 7 months ans 12500 now and it am very happy with this purchase so far. The ride is very quiet and seats extremely comfortable. Voice commands work well for phone, radio, climate control, navigation etc.... Gas mileage is averaging 45.5 MPG., close to 600 mile range per fill. Highly recommended!!

I really love the comfort of the fusion . I have the 2.0 turbo and couldn't ask for better handling and acceleration so far. I am getting 26 miles to the gallon and I have a bit of a lead foot. I love the huge trunk and the fact there is no lip so easier to load heavy stuff. Easy to connect your phone. I don't have navigation. My only complaint so far is the auto climate control does not seem to auto adjust like it should. Audio is easy to use. It took me awhile because I am not that tech savvy to learn how to use all the controls. also love the keyless entry.

2016 Fusion SE

The 1st Fusion I bought new was the 2010 SEL and the car never gave me a issue 1 in 130,000 miles. I used it to commute back and forth to work 100 plus miles a day. Kept the oil changed when the car said to change it at 0% on the oil life tracking meter. Traded it for a 2016 Fusion SE and it will do the commute as the old one did 100 miles plus per day. I thought the trading-in value was very poor on my the 2010 since it was in excellent condition with not even a door ding, but you know the dealers always screw you on your trade anyway. I went ahead and traded up for the 2016 Fusion since Ford was advertising 0% for 72 months cause can't beat 0% interest. If the 2016 is as good as the 2010 model then I'll be back for another review in about 5 years. My old Fusion was a excellent car and the over all mpg on the 2010 all highway driving at 65 to 75 mph was 28.7 to 30.7. So far only have 1000 miles on the new 2016 and it is at 32.2 mpg, but haven't hand calculated it yet, so a little better than the old model. Hope it is as good a Fusion as my 2010 was. Updated Review: It doesn't get the MPG advertised and gets 30.4 mpg all highway miles hand calculated but the dash will read 32mpg. The sticker advertises 36 MPG so way off. If there is a 15 mph wind it moves the car all over the place so this car doesn't like wind. There is a lot of road noise and air noise this car is in no way a quiet ride. If you are 6'2" then I'd say look for another car because this one doesn't have enough leg room and you find yourself always trying to find a better seat position. Not to happy with this 2016 Fusion compared to my 2010 Fusion. I drive all highway with this car 100 plus miles a day and can't say how long I'll be keeping it at this point cause I'm not to satisfied with it. Poor fuel mileage, loud road noise, poor quality stereo, wind moves this car all over the road, uncomfortable seating for a 6'2" man. Disappointed with it so far.

The 2016 Ford Fusion SE model with the luxury package is what I purchased. All controls work well and are well placed for me. The center console sits too far back when my girlfriend drives it, but considering that she's a bit short, it's to be expected. The air conditioning works OUTSTANDING for East Texas heat and humidity. My only complaint about this car is the onboard navigation. It is not up to date with current roads and is a bit outdated in its style of use. Other than that, I'm very well pleased with the car.

I bought a 2016 fusion with the sports package EcoBoost awd. I had high expectations for this car and thought if I did the proper maintenance and service at the Ford dealership then I should have a good car for years to come. Oil change every 5000 miles, synthetic oil, replaced filters when recommended and several other things done when recommended. In short anything this car needed it got. Well, my car is at 60,831 miles and Ford just told me the engine is shot. This car has never been beat on. I park it 500 yards away from the nearest vehicle at the store. Not one ding on it. Ford informed me the drivetrain is only good for 5 years or 60,000 miles. They told me $7,700.00 for a new engine. I really liked this car, how it looked, and how it ran. Too bad I'll never buy another Ford again. This is what you get for taking care of your car. I gave it a 2 star because I really liked this car. It deserves a 1for a shitty engine

Good somewhat basic Car

Got this car used with 60,000 miles. I have put about 25,000 more on it and still runs great. Hasn't needed anything major done to it. I purposely got a more baseline model so it has less stuff to go wrong. Its still got a decent amount of technology in it without costing thousands to fix. Headlights are a bit of a pain and most shops will drop the bumper to replace bulbs. Driving this car is great. It handle good for a midsize sedan. It does have a decent amount of body roll but will still hold the road just fine. The interior is awesome and fairly ergonomic. Having a go old fashion shifter is great. The dial shifters that came with later models is silly and shouldn't exist. If you live in areas with snow put GOOD all-season tires on it or it will drive terribly. I personally use Michelin defenders and they do great. Also be aware if you drive over speed bumps or have a curb going into your driveway. The front end is pretty low and will scrape easily. If you are a bigger person the seats can be uncomfortable after long periods of driving. The pros outweigh the cons in my opinion. Its a stylish car that's reliable and fun to drive. Used base model versions sell for a really good deal and will last a good long time with proper maintenance.

I have the 2016 Titanium AWD 2.0. Sticker says 22/31 mpg. Mine gets 16 city and 19 combined. Pretty poor. If I knew the actual was so far off from the claimed I would have passed on this car. Car was falling apart so I dumped it at 6 months old. Not worth anything near sticker, nobody wants them on trade either.

Stunning and Powerful

I've had this car a month and it has been an absolute dream. I traded in a 2014 Focus which turned out to be one the worst cars I have had. I was worried that this car would feel too big or too boring coming from the Focus. That has turned out to not be the case. This car is very comfortable and the quality of materials is outstanding. Soft touch areas surround the cabin and there are lots of little details that make the interior feel luxurious. The exterior is very sporty, especially with the SE Appearance Package. My car is also equipped with the SE Technology Package which I have to say is a must have. The sound system is amazing and the entertainment system is easy to use and is intuitive. The touch sensitive screen can be a bit laggy but it's nothing that bothers me too much. My car has the 1.5L EcoBoost engine. This car has a lot of power. I have noticed that the fuel economy is less than what the sticker states, which I knew about before choosing the Fusion. I am getting 22 mpg with mostly city driving, so it's not too bad. I would definitely recommend the Fusion! I have been impressed thus far and do not regret my decision.

This car is very well designed as far as its interior and exterior looks. The seats really hold you in place which is another huge plus. I would never buy a car with the lowest available engine or technology options so this review is for the low end car. The acceleration seemed sufficient even with 4 adults in the car. I love the convenient of the controls and the leg room. I am 5'11" and not fat so most cars have decent room for me. The car handled well and the steering was really stiff which took a few hours to get used to but once I did the car was very easy to drive. I would buy one of these cars and thought it was much nicer than the Camry I rented the previous year. All in all I loved the car's style, performance, interior space.

I have the 1.5 EcoBoost. The only selections in the drop down menu were 2.5 or 2.0. I have the Sport Appearance Package with the spoiler, rims, etc. For a "generic" mid sized sedan this car looks good! However, my main gripes are: Poor acceleration and bad gas mileage. I commute 100 miles a day all freeway. I an getting 29 MPG. In my 2016 Dodge Challenger with a 300 hp V6 that weighs more I get 27 MPG. If the Fusion got 33-35 MPG on the highway the power would be fine. This tells me that the engine is working too hard. My other big gripe is about the Infotainment system. The screen is small especially in a vehicle equipped with a back up camera. Ford has made it nearly impossible to replace the stereo unit. The stereo does not sound very good also. At least I can change the speakers. There is an annoying squeak in the back seat that started at 40K miles. I love the looks and ride of the car.

Picked up this car @ the end of May & have to say, so far, it has lived up to past reviews; it is a TERRIFIC car in all categories. The ride, build quality, comfort, tech features, etc. - it's all on point! The interior is VERY quiet & the sound system is like having the Boston Symphony Orchestra riding along with you. I have owned MANY cars thru the years & have to say that by far, this is the best sounding system I have EVER heard; figures, with 12 speakers! The features are all customizable & you can turn on / off, the things you don't need / use. The owner's manual is quite extensive, I use it as a reference, rather than read it in its entirety! Don't walk, RUN to your dealer & get one!

The 2016 seems better to me than the 2017; the shifter on the 2017 reminds me of the disasterous early 1970" chrysler push button one; I personally prefer to have a shift handle that is easy to feel the gear the car is in.

This is my second fusion. I bought my last in 2014 as a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid, with a little over 50k miles. Got amazing fuel economy until about 135k miles when the hybrid battery needed to be replaced. Never had a problem with it other than that. I researched all my car options again when I decided to replace it and purchased a 2016 SE with the 2.5 with 30k miles. I liked my old fusion, but this one is a whole different level. Much more space inside, despite not being noticeably larger outside. Much more comfortable, quieter at all speeds and nicer to drive. The trunks huge- trips to Home Depot and IKEA are no big deal at all. I am 6’4 and if the drivers seat is in my normal position, I can get out and sit directly behind it without my knees touching the back of the seat. I definitely recommend the car to anyone looking, I got the base engine due to concerns about actual fuel economy of the ecoboost engines. I’m a father of 3 and having a sporty or spirited driving experience on a daily basis jut doesn’t appeal to me. Safety and comfort are my top concerns!

I love the fusion but after 1 year of ownership and only 7k mile on the odo, the car I paid 32k for is only worth 16k. Truly, fords don't hold their value. Now, 2 years old, not even the dealer wants the car for trade. I was told to go to carmaxx. Never buy another ford. Worse than not holding their values, you have to give them away

I have the 2006 Ford Fusion with the titanium package. I actually love the interior, but my first gripe is that for some reason it was exceptionally hard to find a car without a black interior. In fact, there were only two interior color choices. Black and creme/off-white. This is crazy. It's hotter than Hades here in the summer in the Midwest, so black interior cars are terrible, especially those with sunroofs. What happened to grey, blue, or beige interiors? Pretty much anything other than boring black is an improvement, but nobody seems to be offering those anymore unless you custom order a luxury car. The second gripe is the gearing in standard drive mode. It's terrible. Slow to shift, slow to accelerate. In general, it's soulless. It's much better in "Sport" mode. They should have made this the standard, but I bet it doesn't meet their mileage goals. I often shift into Sport to get off the line, and then once I'm up-to-speed, move back to Drive. They could have easily done this by default if they'd programmed the shift points on the auto transmission better, but at least you can get around it. Other people complain about the Sync2 touchscreen interface. Personally, I find it to be much superior to their newer Sync3 with the only exception being that Sync3 has Apple CarPlay ability being newer system. The four-quadrant color-coded layout is very easy to use, and frankly for the most part, the system just works, unlike many, many others I've used. The AC controls leave a bit to be desired, but they aren't terrible. The one real drawback is that there are no physical buttons for switching which vent the air comes out of. That's all done on the touchscreen, buried behind at least one level of interface. Other than that, they pretty much work even if the foot vents make more noise than actual air flow. Styling is great. Thank god they started taking come cues from the team at Aston Martin while they owned them. This car doesn't look boring like the Chevy, Dodge, Nissan, Toyota, Kia, Honda, etc. equivalents where they wouldn't know style if someone hit them upside the head with it. The front grill, nice swage lines down the side, and back end all look very nice, modern, aggressive, and sporty. This is about the best looking non-luxury sedan out there today. All in all, a very nice sedan and I've been perfectly pleased with mine for the four years I've owned it.

I got my 2016 Ford Fusion Titanium in April and I'm enjoying everything about it. I'm really impressed with the eco boost engine great acceleration. I have all the whistle and bells and still learning some of the sync system but a lot of fun. I love the 12 speaker surround sound radio, the heated & cooled seats. The only thing I don't like is the wind noise it interferes with the radio and conversations. There are to many things to mention them all. I traded in my 2009 MKZ which I really liked.

This car does it all. It even parks itself. After having a Camry and a Beamer I never thought a Fusion would be better. It is! The 2.0 has a much better response than the Camry and it rides just as good as the Beamer. It stickered at just over 36K but after some discounts I gave 32K including fee's and taxes. The fit and finish is superb and no orange peel. After purchasing I used it on a 9 hour road trip and after a long day driving I still felt relaxed. The Camry always made my back ache after 2 hours. I have put 11K on the odometer and can't find anything to complain about. Ford has shown me that they can build a car that deserves top ratings.

Great car. I get about 21 MPG in the city. Still learning how to use all the technology available, but so far so good. Once you know how to word the commands it the system runs pretty well. A lot of compliments on the cars looks and how smooth the car is when being driven on bumpy roads. I was expecting there to be vision issues, but I haven't had any.

This was a used purchased. 2016 with 22k miles on it. Research price thoroughly. If you know your price range, salesman can't high ball you. Edmunds.com was a big help with their website. Do not deal with corner used car dealerships. By corner, I mean that you will be able to tell once you walk thru the door. The facility will be basic and poorly maintained and salespersons would be obvious. CARMAX is good for no haggling. They are very professional, but prices will be slightly higher than dealerships and will sell you warranties while some of the dealerships will give them to you with the purchase. For instance, I purchased my vehicle for $800 under Carmax price and received the 7yr 100k mile factory train warranty with my price. Carmax and corner dearlerships would sell it to me with purchase.

I really like the car. Too bad I can't find out any details about it. Car enthusiasts do like to know what they are buying. The manual and spec sheet are sorely lacking in technical details of the car and Ford's web site isn't any better, and has no search function! The owner's manual devotes half of it's pages to "connectivity". It reads like it was written by a teenager that's nose is stuck in a cell phone all day. The only way to figure out the touch screen instructions are to spend an hour in the driveway playing with it. There are features like "valet mode" which are mentioned twice in other contexts but never explained or listed in the index. Having written many tech manuals, this wouldn't pass muster. The emergency flashers were inadvertently turned on while driving. The owners manual indicated the switch was on the dashboard but the picture of the dashboard pointed out everything except the switch. The red triangles on the switch do not have any contrast with the flat black of the switch body and the sun angle made them invisible. The brakes are way too sensitive. When I let someone drive the car that is their first comment after getting their nose out of the windshield. The heater doesn't put enough air into the foot wells for winter driving. My feet are cold when I get into the car here in Tahoe. When the heater reaches the set temperature the air flow switches to cold air instead of ramping down. Still really like the car. The front end geometry makes the car follow camber in the road surface so it dodges around. Especially where on roads where studded tires have worn two depressions in the road. The dealer service dept. found that the toe-in was at the high end of the tolerance. When corrected the problem was minimized.

Absolutely loved this car in the beginning when it was new. It now has 31,500 miles on it and it can't stay out of the dealership for repairs. Ford is having issues with the 2.0 liter Ecoboost engines- My dealer has seen 5 so far that needed a new engine just like mine. The entire top end of the engine needed replacing in October of 2017- Issues persisted and in April of 2018 the entire engine needed to be replaced. My check engine light keeps coming on over & over showing an overboost code- this has happened since the car was a few months old and now still happens even after a complete brand new engine. I'm getting rid of this car.

Too many issues past 100,000 miles

I bought my fusion in 2017 and it had 13,000 miles on it. It is a 1.5 Ecoboost. It now has 115,000. Primarily used for highway commuting. It's a comfortable, sporty car and I enjoy driving it. The 1.5T is a bit under powered - the turbo kicks in more than it should in my opinion, causing jerky-driving and the MPG to be so-so (I average 28.5). Was a great vehicle until 100,000 miles. Then the coolant leak issue happened to me, which is common in fords ecoboost engines. This caused me to replace the water pump, timing belt, and intake manifold. I was very lucky that the coolant didn't reach the engine or I would have needed a full engine replacement. A few months later, replaced the vacuum purge valve (fuel system). A month later, alternator. The past 8 months I've spent $4,000 in repairs. What's next, transmission? Suspension? I just don't trust this car anymore. Love it, but very expensive repairs seem to keep coming my way for no reason. I would stay away from this car, especially past 100,000 miles. Mine will be put for sale shortly.

Make sure you are aware of all your cons!

Ford lease, 12/24/2018

I leased a 2016 ford fusion se with lots of packages. 1.5L engine, leather seats, sunroof, nav, power seats, heated seats, heated mirrors, backup sensors. It was great. lots of features and i got a great price.. Within a few weeks after i got it, there was a popup on my screen saying the gps sd card is faulty. so had to replace that and havent had a problem since then. other cons: POOR FUEL MILEAGE. Highway i can achieve maximum 32mpg and city (living in long island, ny) achieving 19 mpg on a good day. other sedans are much more productive. DO NOT get the goodyear eagle sport tires. i am not a crazy driver yet i had 2 of them torn up at about 20k miles and another 2 were wearing down low at around 25k miles. another thing - battery died at 34,000 miles. right before my lease ended. acceleration: you definitely feel the turbo lag from 0-30 but in speeds upwards of 60mpg, it does great and especially fun to drive in sport mode. I also feel like it would not be a long term car because by the end of 3 years, i am hearing the speakers crackling, the bluetooth isnt connecting right to my phone. these things should not be happening on a car that is barely 3 years old. also - front seat headroom isnt great with the leather and sunroof. rear seat headroom is ok. but legroom isnt too great in the rear. i'd say below average for a midsize sedan. trunk is larger than expected! probably my favorite quality. plenty of cargo space in all seats to store your stuff. lots of junk spaces. car looks great in and out. driving it is fun. cornering is fun. interior knobs and gauges look luxurious especially at night with the blue lighting. i just dont get the feel like this is the type of car that can last past 100,000 miles. paid 210 with taxes and first month payment upfront. very good deal but i do not like the people at the dealership now.

As a car guy, I've owned and driven lots of cars. This is one of my most frustrating rentals. I have been more comfortable in a nissan versa note than this. Why? Getting in and out is like sitting on the ground. But also, the legroom, if you cut off the person in the back seat, is horrible. And there is a place to rest your non-pedal foot, but it is sloped sideways. And the brake pedal is too far up in the air from the accelerator. The part of the roofline where you get in and out, I have banged my head many times and the seat is down really low. The roofline is cut so low it doesn't allow you to do a drive through window very well. I'm 5'11'' and about 275lbs, so I'm a bigger guy. But I've gotten into other smaller cars without this much trouble. The car is well equipped for the price point, but that is where the love affair ends. Oh, and the trunk space is very generous, a big bonus. But for comfort, my wife and I cannot wait for this to go back and to get my RAV4 hybrid back on the road - it is having the windshield replaced due to a crack from rock chips. I had much more comfort in a Camry than with this Ford Fusion. The car has a backup camera, but the screen is really small....really, really small. The air seems to struggle to get cool, but it does have little air vents for rear passengers. The car has a nice feel to it, as far as the finishes, but the space/comfort thing is a problem. It handles well, but the ride is rough and bumpy. That is being said by a guy who normally rides in smaller SUV's.....so that should be a warning. If you like a smooth ride, get something else. Over even the smallest of bumps, it feels like there is a guy with a sledgehammer banging on the floor of the car. And it really thrashes you about too. The rear brake lights are LED and bright. The dash area has plenty of info, and follows the current Ford theme. the radio and controls are within easy reach. The visibility isn't too bad. And the equipment on the SE is good compared to others in its class. But when I priced out what they start going up to in price, after the SE, or when you put some features into it, and I cannot believe people are buying these. I would not buy one of these...I'd highly encourage you to look around and rent one before buying.....I'm so glad I never entertained buying one of these. My CMAX I owned, while full of problems and sounding like a hupmobile, still had more comfort than this.

My third Ford Fusion, and I love it!

This is my third Fusion. I had a 2014 Fusion SE. I traded it for a 2016 2.0 turbo with the appearance package. I love this car! The engine is way better, it's more powerful and quiet, it feels like driving a V6. The 18" black alloy wheels, rear spoiler and fog lights do make the car look nicer. I honestly recommend to get the car with the 1.5T or the 2.0T engine, because it's a better ride than the 2.5. Make sure you get all the features you want on the car so you have no regrets. The cash back incentives were unbelievable on this car.

This is my second Fusion I had a 2010, trading it for another vehicle was my worst mistake. It was a great car. So I had to have another Fusion a 2016. Love it, comfortable easy to manuver and an all around great car. The gas mileage is great. You can't go wrong with a Fusion.

I don't know much about these cars. I just recently purchased a 2016 fusion se. I liked how it handled when I test drove it, the ride is smooth and it's sharp looking. Anyway, I have only had the car for almost 4 weeks and noticed going downhill the rpm's run high and the car slows down a bit. Is this normal? I've already had a couple problems with it and have had to take it back to the dealer which is a 45 min trip one way and I'm just tired of dealing with them

When I got hired with Grubhub I traded in my 13 Taurus Limited for this 16 Ford Fusion and I love it. Its good in all kinds of weather and the new tires make the car feel like it's magnetized to the road. The only drawbacks are 18 mpg city (31 highway though) and a small backup camera screen.

I am leasing this car & plan to purchase it at the end of the lease in January. It has been very reliable, comfortable, good fuel economy (over 30 MPG), and the technology is easy & intuitive. Good car for the family and in all kinds of Colorado weather.

It is comfortable to drive and nap in. But the transmission went out when it was only 3 yrs old. They replaced the entire engine and 8 months later it's going out again! The car also rattles in random places. Ford service is not great either and be prepared for lots of recalls

Rented a fusion on several business trips, always looked forward to getting back to my Audi... Then, my dad died, and my sister and brother went back to Fords. My dad only drove fords, even when he was a young race car driver... between the truck and mustang, I decided to go for a test drive. Saw the white gold fusion and spent a long time driving it. The rentals did not have the same feel as this lovely new car. I ended up leasing, because I know that in a few years I will want another, with updated options. The only real complaint I have.... I cannot lock the fuel cap and my gas has been stolen too many times. Calling Ford today to see if there is a way to lock it! I kept my Audi, and after a few months, I totally weaned myself off it. Truly back to being a ford fan! I have owned several cars, including 3 mustangs... looking back, there is nothing, at this point of my life, than comfort! Thank God for progress!

This car has yet to let me down. It’s had minimal problems since I’ve owned it. The car is great on gas and is such a comfortable ride. My only complaint is sometimes the transmission is a tad jerky and I keep thinking one day it will give out but she just keeps trucking! Would buy it again. Would only recommend buying the 2.5L. One of my favorite motors that Ford made.

Ford Fusion is an overlooked bargain

I owned 3 Toyotas before dipping my toes into a Ford. I was impressed with Ford for not taking cash from the government during the recession. I had also done a strategic analysis of them for my MBA in 2010 and was impressed with their environmental initiatives. My 2006 Ford Fusion SEL with the Duratec 3.0L V6 hit 205k miles in 2017. After 11 yrs and 205k miles the transmission was starting to show some signs of age. Not bad, it had been a steady beast in rough Boston metro traffic, and Western NY weather. Everything else in it still worked great. The body was almost still new despite 11 or so North East winters. I drove it into a Ford dealership looking for a late model used 2015-2016 Fusion. I bought a fully loaded 2016 Titanium with the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder (240 bhp) for under $17k. It was a 1 YR rental with 32k miles on it. It's now half way through 2020, and I am at 58k miles. It's a terrific car. I do a lot of city driving, and it still gets 26 mpg. I have only replaced wipers/oil and filters to date. Everything works great, the car still looks good. I have more features and comfort than another friends BMW. His car was 3x the cost, and has been to the shop for over 4k in repairs already. If you want an affordable, reliable car, that you can buy fully loaded for 20k or less, look for a 1-2 yr old Fusion with 40k miles or less. Keep up on the maintenance and enjoy inexpensive, loaded care free driving. I am devastated that Ford has decided to stop making this great car. The Ford infotainment system is miles ahead of my friend's comparable Toyota Camry, the ride quality is better,

I've driven this car from Florida to new york multiple times, and it's amazing!! Very comfortable and easy to drive. It has superior handling due to its fully electric steering. I was almost in an accident due to a sudden stop and the brakes on this car are awesome. It has a pretty good sound system, but the problem is I can never get the Bluetooth to connect on my phone!!. The car has decent acceleration with the 2.5 liter, but not the best at passing cars on the highway (takes a while), but it easily cruises at 100mph on the highway. Driving through the mountains, the engine is pretty noisy if you do around 80mph due to high reving. Other than that, it's an amazing car and I love it!!

its a nice car as long as you dont mind removing the entire front fascia to replace one head lamp. Its a lengthy tedious job they will charge you $125 to do at the shop. I cant imagine who thought that was ok
