A good car for bad weather
I bought the AWD model to handle the snow and ice and it does have great traction. The boy racer types claim it is not powerful enough, but it is faster zero to 60 than my DeLorean was, so how much power is enough? I'm very satisfied with the power and handling.
Easily most comfy car I've ever driven..
I've bought a few new cars in my life, but buying this 2005 Ford 500 in 2007 may be my best car purchase ever. Has a nicer, more comfy car ever been built? I say, "no."

GREAT AUTOMOBILE
This car is now within a few hundred miles of 100k. Other reviewer's comments regarding braking are very interesting to me. All of my driving life (I am 82) I have driven with the attitude that whatever hurts my car hurts my pocketbook. With very few exceptions I have stuck with Ford automobiles and have never experienced what I would classify as poor braking. In the case of this car the only brake repair was at 29000 miles, when the rear pads and rotors were replaced under the warranty. I now expect that the brakes will be carefully examined with the 100k servicing. Regarding service, I religiously conform to the manufacturer/s recommendations and maintain the car at the ford dealership. I anticipate what is ahead of me while driving, I do not charge traffic lights to beat the red, and I conform to the law as much as possible. I believe this has saved me a lot of money over the years. This car is one of the best I have ever owned.

Best car I've ever owned. Loved it!
The only reason I'm still not driving this car is because there was a coolant clog to the thermostat that trashed the cam shaft, timing belt, etc. I bought it for $5,700 with 118,000 miles on it in 2014, drove it for 4 years for another 170,000 miles. Never a problem with the CVT, the engine only needed regular maintenance. This is the only car I ever shed a tear over parting with. Best car I've ever owned. Drove well in CA snow, dry roads, high winds, curves and any other condition. Took corners nicely, very comfy, loads of trunk room, easy for my elderly mother to get in and out of and I liked the chime that reminded you if your turn signal was on too long. Also liked the beep, beep when you were backing up and getting near to something. Hands down, the best car I've ever owned.
