This is a great car for me, but it's not for everybody... my wife has a hard time getting up n out of it. also if your over 6' tall it might be to small to get into and out of. that beings said, I'm getting avg 38 mpg driving 32 miles round trip to work everyday, with a trip into town once a week maybe, so 11gal gets me about two weeks before I have to fill up. Just did a brake job and new tires at 50k on my 2012. planning on driving this till the wheels fall off. manual trans. by the way love the shifting, just wished it had a turbo kit in it... easy to find a parking spot compared to our F-150 So yes, I really like it specially for a go to work vehicle.

This has got to be the worst car ever made by any car company, including Yugo. This car should auto qualify for a lemon. If you buy this car, chose a lemon law attorney the same day you drive off the lot. The ford sync system is terrible and never works properly, and i mean NEVER. The transmission is a constant problem. It sound like it's grinding during every shift point and even when no power is applied. It shifts erratically, surges, stalls out and sometimes leaves me stranded at red lights. Don't buy this car, don't even look at it.

I warn you don't!!!
I bought a 2012 Ford Fiesta SE 30 days ago off the lot. Day 27 the transmission goes goes out. Its at 86,000 miles. Turns out that the type of transmission this is (half manual/half auto) does not last long. So Ford knows its a problem and as a 100,000 miles warranty to fix it. The problem with that is that this car will most likely break down again because its just way the car it built, not just a random malfunction. Do not but any from the year 2011-2015. Actually, most of the fords in those years have them like the Focus. I found out that there is actually a class action lawsuit type thing because so many people are big this problem. The interior is made cheaply because the plastic door handle broke off day 2 of owing it. After a week of buying the car the sun roof started working 50% of the time. The USB connects to the phone so it can change but doesn't connect to play music anymore because the fuse that is the liaison between the two went out. On a bright side it does drive smooth. Though I would rather have bumpy car that lasts

This car
I bought this car brand new in May 2012, and everything was ok with it until Oct 2013 (@15000 miles) when it started shuddering, stalling, and sounding like it was eating itself. Shuddering was so bad I developed back issues from being jostled around so badly. Transmission replaced TWICE, 8/2014 and 10/2015. It happened AGAIN and dealer said it was such a prevalent issue that parts were backordered 5 months. When it left me stranded in the middle of an intersection, I refused to drive it again and drove my husband's car until I traded it in for a Toyota. This is not a car I'd wish on my worst enemy. Sure it's great on gas, but it'll be in the shop too much to benefit from that!
Disappointed more with Ford than the car…
I bought this used 2012 Fiesta about 4 months ago and have had way too many mechanical and electrical problems with a car barely 4 years old. Car needed new wheel bearings, then the check engine light came on the catalytic converter had failed, then the audio went out (thought a fuse blew. the problem is intermittent now). Update: 3/30/2020 the radio went out completely a few months after it started having issues. Was quoted $700 to fix it from Ford Ann about $500 from a local shop. The Evap emissions control module is throwing an engine error code. Local shop said similar models had recalls and couldn’t find a leak. Took it to Ford. They replace the purge valve, wiring harnesses, fuel pump, for $1,500 and didn’t fix the issue. They had it for another week and could find the problem. Had another shop look at it and they can’t identify the issue either. Update: 4/16/2022 Still driving this car. At one point in 2021 the check engine light was thrown on and it went into 'limp' mode making it undrivable. The code was for the evap emissions control module... not needed to throttle the engine for that...Took it to a local mechanic who couldn't find any leaks in the emissions system. They said it was probably electrical. Took it to Ford. $1,600+ and two week later they couldn't figure out the problem. Took it to another mechanic and a day ant $50 later they had replaced a wiring harness which corrected the issue. Fall 2021 the motor that changes the direction of cabin airflow behind the glove box is making a clicking noise every time the car is turned on. Looks like an issue with the limit meter and it trying to keep turning despite being maxed out. AC stopped working. Everything mechanical is fine on this car. Everything electrical is falling apart. 10/19/2022: still running. Mechanically sound. I finally got around to looking at the radio and found the reason it didn’t work… All the wires were unplugged and taped to the bottom of the radio. Looking back through my notes, I noticed the radio stopped working shortly after I took my car into Ford for the recall for programming the passenger airbag. I can’t prove it, but I believe a Ford technician unplugged it so they could ‘sell’ me a radio. Update: April 2024. Car still running. Mechanically sound. 160,000+ miles. AC stopped working again. Still throws random check engine light for Evap Emission Control system. Can’t fill up at the pump without Unhooking the vent tubing. Replaced vapor canister, vent control valve, and vent tubes with no success at correcting the problem. Update :November 2024. Still having problems with the fuel fill tank. Following the vent tube from the evap canister leads to an end behind the rear driver tire. Disassembled the valve(?) cleaned it out and reassembled. Gas tank filled fine three times after that and reverted back to the same issue. Repeated the process without the same success as before. Engine light comes and goes still P052 & P054 codes. HO2S Heater Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2, Sensor 1 & 2). Oxygen sensors were replaced without correcting the issue. Wiring was checked as best I could without seeing any issue. At ~170,000 miles brakes are ready to be replaced again. Rotors look like they need replacement. At the same time, something in the lumbar support in the driver seat snapped. Fuel economy is slipping slightly, ~30 MPG. All the rubber around the windows is falling apart. The rubber trim and plastic under the hood at the base of the windshield is also starting to crumble away.
