Used 2005 Ford Escape Consumer Reviews
Fun combined with economy
We purchased this Escape wanting enough room for 4 adults, cargo room and good gas mileage. Bingo! Our Escape seems to be stuck at 27 + miles to a gallon! even with more than half city driving. We packed it full to travel to an out of state wedding , left one side of the rear seat up for our grandson and had room to spare. Its great fun to drive, responsive and handles well. In fairness there is a whistling noise ( maybe roof racks) when traveling on the freeway, and the running boards are not only useless but an actual pain since you cant use them to get in- you have to crawl over them muddying your jeans as you straddle them.
I love this SUV!
This is my first SUV and my first American made car and I just love it. I agree with the other reviews that there is a lot of brake dust on the front wheels, but that means the brakes are working well, so I am fine with cleaning them often. I averaged 260 miles with in town miles on my first tank of gas. It is practical, affordable, and stylish and surprisingly comfortable. . .I was expecting more of a bumpy ride since I have always driven a car, but the crossover for me was great!

Enjoyment
With only 1100 miles, the fuel economy is between 18 and 21 all city driving. With the 3L V6 it is more than responsive for a small SUV and is just a lot of fun to drive. Agility is another quality that I truly enjoy in rush hour traffic.
Fun to drive
I am very pleased and happy with my purchase. I went from a small compact car to the Ford Escape and was very pleased with how comfortable it is to drive and how safe the vehicle makes you feel. I am a mother with small children and they are very happy with it as well. Very well recommended.
Best SUV in it's class
After one year still love driving it. Nice power, rides lke a car. Not good on gas, but the ablity to use of low octane helps.
