Used 2005 Ford Escape Consumer Reviews
Ford Hybrid, Go Green!
With gas prices continually going up, it was time to re-think fuel economy. Although I would probably never have considered the Ford Escape (I was looking at minivans) the thought of a Hybrid SUV caught my attention. The Escape has a pleasing body line and the interior is adequate for a family of 5. While I may not be the tree hugging type, it is nice to drive past the local gas stations without turning in. If you are looking for quiet, this is the car for you. No engine noise, no road noise and handling which is very responsive.
Electric Escapism
So far, so good. After taking test drives at autoshows and with dealers, and really needing a replacement this years for my '01 Escape, I took the plunge with an all-wheel-drive Hybrid. Smooth city driving, with enough pep to take on the interstates with ease. Has speed like a six-cylinder. Its new CVT transmission is as smooth as silk! And it's quieter than previous Escapes. Still can't get over the no engine noise feeling at a stop light, or in bumper-to-bumper city traffic!

MY FORD ESCAPE
THIS IS A GREAT VEHICLE, IT IS VERY ROOMY, GREAT DRIVING
Fun combined with economy
We purchased this Escape wanting enough room for 4 adults, cargo room and good gas mileage. Bingo! Our Escape seems to be stuck at 27 + miles to a gallon! even with more than half city driving. We packed it full to travel to an out of state wedding , left one side of the rear seat up for our grandson and had room to spare. Its great fun to drive, responsive and handles well. In fairness there is a whistling noise ( maybe roof racks) when traveling on the freeway, and the running boards are not only useless but an actual pain since you cant use them to get in- you have to crawl over them muddying your jeans as you straddle them.
I love this SUV!
This is my first SUV and my first American made car and I just love it. I agree with the other reviews that there is a lot of brake dust on the front wheels, but that means the brakes are working well, so I am fine with cleaning them often. I averaged 260 miles with in town miles on my first tank of gas. It is practical, affordable, and stylish and surprisingly comfortable. . .I was expecting more of a bumpy ride since I have always driven a car, but the crossover for me was great!
