Escape from the others in its class...

I have owned my 2005 Escape XLT since July and have already put 8000 km on it. Thus far it has done very well in all areas. The ride is excellent and quieter than I expected. There is very little roll when cornering quickly and the stability is impressive. The 3.0L V6 is surprsingly torquey and I have no problems on steep hills. This wouldn't be the case pulling a heavy trailer. Mileage is only okay and Ford needs to smarten up here. My family of 4 fits easily but plan on using the roof rack for extended vacations. The sound system is superb. Engine idle seems fast on cold start (2500-3000) but Ford techs tell me it's normal. I disagree. All in all, I really like my Escape.

Excellent Small SUV

Looked at all the small SUVs before buying the Escape. Great handling, visibility and power. Test drove both the 4 cyl. and v-6, and wouldn't consider anything but the v-6. Also didn't get sidestep bars as were a hinderance, more than a help, to entry on a test driven vehicle. Just took it on a road trip across the state for hockey tournament. Held all gear and passengers wonderfully and was comfortable on long drive. Averaged 19mpg fuel economy on trip. I have leather seats and moon roof, both of which I love. I'm not usually a fan of leather, but they were way more cushy than the cloth seats, and figured they would hold up better, as I'm leasing my Escape. Would get again-no regrets

Love the car. Went through a lot of problems with Ford dealerships themselves but worth it for this SUV. Great gas usage. Very impressed with that.

After doing a lot of research, and test driving, we decided on the Escape. The 2005 improvements sold us, but the dealer bent over backwards to make us a deal. Toyota and Honda dealers were not interested!!! With X-plan and rebates - we shaved $3700 off the sticker and then got top dollar for our trade-in. Chose the sport for looks (wheels- tires-steps), but side air bags were mandatory. Mileage is OK, but until engine is broken in, it will be hard to tell the actual MPG. Right now it is about 17 in town. Highly Recommended.

Ford Hybrid, Go Green!

With gas prices continually going up, it was time to re-think fuel economy. Although I would probably never have considered the Ford Escape (I was looking at minivans) the thought of a Hybrid SUV caught my attention. The Escape has a pleasing body line and the interior is adequate for a family of 5. While I may not be the tree hugging type, it is nice to drive past the local gas stations without turning in. If you are looking for quiet, this is the car for you. No engine noise, no road noise and handling which is very responsive.
