BALL JOINTS AND U-JOINTS
Cummins Diesel will tow anything on you can think of. But the downfall on my truck is the front suspension components and the weak transmission. I love the truck to death, yet hate the front components. Family of five can go on 1000+ mile trips comfortably while refueling only once. The enormous fuel tank allows this. Added 4.5Inch Exhaust, AFE Stage 2 Intake and also a Hypertech Econ Tuner to increase fuel mileage. My truck is definitely a workhorse!
No nonsense review
This is a diesel megacab, 2WD review. 93000 on the odometer-maybe will be called the best overall vehicle I've owned. On the road 22.4 mpg, in town 19-no hot doggin, and yes, the truck is capable of spinning the tires- whenever. Great room for a big/tall guy, and the person behind him. Not an intown vehicle-is not a short radius turner, and at 7600#, it doesn't handle or brake like a Porsche. But it is a very capable truck. Ride is truck like. Removed a leaf in the rear to help soften ride-I don't haul much. Three decided mfg. defects- engine has a breather tube which drips black engine oil, exhaust pipe too short-soots the rear quarter panel, spokes on wheel (al) had chatter marks.

Go Cummings
Best truck, best vehicle I have ever had. Cummings will pull anything you have. Added larger tires to fill in wheel wells. Went from 265/70-17 to 285/70-17 added about 1 inch in height. Does very well off road. Get 19-20 city and 20-22 highway. If you are looking for a porsche ride go buy a porsche. This is a truck and rides accordingly. The only thing that has broken on it so far is the power seat. It will go up, back, forward but not down. Love the option of a sun roof. Huge back seat. Had to sit in it a couple of times. Love the fact that the back seat reclines. I will drive the truck until it falls apart.
Mega fun
I have loaded it down with 3+ tons of tile and it handled as if nothing was in it. It has been on various trip which required 4X4, with a quick turn of the nob I was climbing a muddy hill or going through sand. Size does matter, the room in the back fits 3 full sized adults (6' plus) and they had plenty of leg room, without touching the front seats.
Turbo Diesel 2500
What a truck! Nothing compares. I can go on and on about so much I like about the truck. However, the leather seats are too hard. Air conditioning does not blow out hard enough for AZ weather. And the air vent flaps are to restrictive. For a $50,000 truck the seats should be more comfortable. It is a truck though, one kind of a truck!
The King of Trucks!
Traded in my 04' Quad Cab 2500 diesel for the new Mega Cab. Couldn't be happier. More horsepower, more options, and the kids don't kick the back of my seat anymore! I got every single option except the snow plow! Love the navigation and overhead DVD is great - kids can even select a satelite station to listen to in the back seat. Great new color too - Khaki metallic. It's beautiful with 4" lift and Weld wheels with 35" Toyo mud terrains.
Rusting Exhaust
Loved this truck when I bought it, but the exhaust has rusted at 48,000 miles. Chrysler was no help, found out the truck was made in Mexico. I think for a truck that has been maintained and well taken care of should have an exhaust system that did not rust out so soon. My Chevy Duramx has held up better, no rust underneath, no problems with the truck.
Mega cab is the way to go
I needed an office on wheels that could haul and tow large loads with ease and still be a pleasure to drive. This truck is the ticket, tough, good looking, roomy, a pleasure to drive or just to ride in
'06 Ram 2500 QC 4x4 CUMMINS 4x4
Truck of trucks. If you are looking for a heavy duty Ram, the Cummins should be your only choice especially with a 4x4. I thought hard about the mega cab but then realized I don't ride in the back seat so I stuck with the quad cab. This is my second Ram with the first being a '96. Fit and finish has come a long way in 10 years like it should. The interior is a bit boring and the plastic wood trim is horrible any way you look at it but can be replaced after market with ease. The ride is smooth, acceleration is better than I thought it would be in a diesel 4x4. Mileage is 15 according to the trip computer with mostly city driving. Stock ride height is taller than Super Duty or Chevy
'06 Ram 2500 Megacab 4X4
I had a transmission solenoid go out around 10,000 miles causing slipping between 1st and 2nd gear. The warranty covered it but it took a special engineer to come down and isolate the problem. The truck is tough to maneuver. The megacab offers ample room inside but is not worth the sacrifice. This truck sticks out of my garage by more than a foot. Performance was lacking until an aftermarket exhaust and air intake were installed.
Too bad for a pickup
Great truck for work and family. $250 chip gave me 120 hp and 3 more mpg. Took several long trips comfort and excellent fuel mileage.(but not quite as good as my 2004 2500 I had before.) I still range in the 19-21 mpg hwy if I keep it under 70. Cruising range in the 600-700 mile range. Will tow anything you hook it to have towed a 24k bachhoe with mine. And haul a 12k skidsteer regularly
TheTruck I Have Been Waiting For
I love this truck. Great performance and fuel mileage. It's a roomy 4x4. What else could you want in a truck? This truck does it all. It's the biggest, baddest truck on the market today. Nothing else even comes close.
Awesome Truck
This truck is a work horse. Tons of room in the back and plenty of power with the Cummins. I average 16-18 mpg in the city and 20-22 mpg on the highway (hand calculated). Best Truck I have owned.
Hot in a megacab
Fuel mileage is poor unless you are on the highway, cruise on, going 65 or less. A/C stinks if the temps are above 90. Even worse when humidity is high or above 100.
Awesome Truck
I would buy this truck again. The handling and power are evident the moment you turn the key. I previously had a 2002 Lincoln Navigator 4wd and this truck out performs it by a long shot. The Laramie package has all the comforts one could want in a pickup. I also tow my 6500lb Grady-white on occasion and with the power trailer tow mirrors, there is not a blind spot anywhere. Also, my pickup has the 4.10 axle ratio to boost its tow rating and accelleration. On the inside, there is more room and comfort than I previously had in my Navigator.
Review of Dodge Mega Cab 2500 4x4
Fuel economy averages 10-11 MPG around town and only about 13-14 at 75 MPH. The ride is quite rough, much rougher than my '97 half ton extra cab. The Hemi engine is very powerful and runs smoothly. The truck looks stunning after it is freshly washed and earns many compliments. The room in the backseat is outstanding.
Dodge, you don't have to any more
You don't have to "Dodge" them anymore. They are well built, powerful, long lasting and fun to drive. The truck has been above average on all things, fit and finish, gas mileage, handling, and most of all very fun to drive. It will spin the wheels at any moment if you get after it. No more worrying about getting into traffic, you floor board it and off it goes. In fact you have to watch the speedo. You are doing 90 before you notice, No motor noise, no wind noise, and you can actually use the drive up now without killing the engine. Great job Dodge!
