Stay Away
Mine was in the shop over 25 times in 2 years. Chrysler techs never did find out what was wrong electrically. After 2yrs and 12k worth of unneeded parts the dealer paid off my loan.

Overall.. Great?
We bought our 09 journey in september of 2016 from a crappy dealer outside Pittsburgh, KS. The car had 6 previous owners, almost 100,000 miles, 2 accidents, an aftermarket stereo and it needed a new battery, tires, and the keyfob was broken. upon seeing the car for the first time, i was immediately in love. (i knew then i was crazy for buying it, but i didn’t care) it had a biohazard sticker on the window and it looked like someone bled all over the beautiful “yes essentials, road trip seats.” we drove 100 miles home and the electrical system failed. we did a full detail on the interior and exterior and my love for the car grew and grew. Now, almost one year later, the car is 8, has 60,000 miles more on the odometer than when we got it. and we haven’t had to do any major maintenance at all. just minor things that every car has to have done. the styling is absolutely amazing, and has so many cool features. it serves its purpose in every way and much more.

Quite possibly the worst SUV of all time
I'm just going to list the pros/cons since there's a lot of cons. Pros- Exterior styling, Power, AWD, Accident safety. Cons- Horrible interior materials, rear hatch handle broke, rear doors fill up with rain, ride is harsh, seats are flat, hard and unsupportive, visibility is awful, 6 CD changer broke almost immediately, noisy power steering, wheels are ALWAYS leaking air, repairs are expensive, bad mpg, Almost no legroom or storage space, transmission is rough, radio sounds awful and can barely receive any signals, brakes start to rub and overheat, extremely touchy pedals, absolutely no feel in the steering whatsoever, and finally, extremely easy to bump the shifter and put it in neutral on the freeway. Our dog almost broke the transmission that way once. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS.

great car but lousy service
I bought this car used six months ago. I have had problems with the car starting, the starter was finally replaced after ten - twenty visits to a dealer. Now six months later the car will not start and I call the Chrysler corporation feeling as if they will help make me whole. Nothing doing, I took the car to a authorized dealer and found out that it was a faulty wireless module and key. You can guess what happened, your warranty does not cover it and you have to pay seven hundred dollars to have it repaired. What a kicker!!! If you plan on purchasing the Journey buy brand new, this is why I will not purchase another American made car. Foreign dealers make customers whole.
