Used 1994 Dodge Dakota Consumer Reviews
It keeps going and going
I bought this truck new in 1995 after it sat on the lot for 15 months. It has the 3.9L V6 which has performed flawlessly. It has not had any major problems in 7 years. The only minor problem that I've had is the transmission started only in neutral until the neutral safety switch was replaced. Other than replacing tires and batteries, no other maintenance has been performed that isn't routine, preventative maintenance. I would recommend that other consumers buy the limited slip differential if buying 2WD to help traction in the rain and snow.
Dakotas for life
Fun to drive and the most reliable vehicle ever built I haved owned an 87 Dakota and ran it for 396000 miles it was still running when it crashed but not worth saving so I moved on to a 94 Sport with extended cab and have had no problems in my 45000 miles.
- Sport Regular CabMSRP: $4,500920 mi away
- SportMSRP: $2,4991,086 mi away
- Sport Extended CabMSRP: $8,9991,733 mi away
94 Dakota SLT V8
Vehicle has been extremely reliable since buying new. Chrysler repainted vehicle due to paint peeling after warranty expired, but had to work through dealer and regional rep to get it completed. Gas Gauge sending unit has been replaced 4 times, still doesn't work sometimes, A/C won't hold charge, Chrysler can't find problem. Radiator leaked less than 2 years after owning, finally replaced after 6 years.
Yankee Plumber's 1994 Dakota Truck
We purchased used in 1996 with 45,000 on it. It has been dependable and easy for the Mrs. to drive. It handles well. It has in the last two years started to peal paint. The Mrs. feels safe in this vehicle. We both like the size of the vehicle. I am not a tall man and it was "just right" to get to my tools in the back. I like the fact that I can Lock up the more expensive tools in the cab and especially that the rain can not rust the tools while inside.
Old but still running
I bought this car from my grandparents with 220,000 miles on it, engine and transmission still run strong, just had a litter of the west park on the roof, very nice and reliable truck, 10 out of 10 would recommend. And as of right now my truck has 231,686 miles

Tough Tittle Dodge
This truck is just the right size for me. I drive my full size truck very little now. The Dakota is comfortable and drives well. It has a real seat in the extended cab a real plus to other smaller trucks. The body is rock solid and tough. Keep the touch up paint handy however or the paint will fly off. I have had no mechanical problems. The transmission is like most Dodges, it shifts down very often even will just a light load. One of my favorite trucks to own.
money pits
i swear i just recently purchased one of these pos about a month ago. todays date is February 24th 2021. and i tell you never invest in one of these. dont even take it as a gift. i originally bought it because it had very low miles (98,000) original miles. it was very clean too. that was all it had. i have only driven this thing a handful of times since I've owned it and those times were to have it repaired. not only is it almost impossible to repair, but the parts for this thing are IMPOSSIBLE to find. since purchasing this pos i am never buying a dodge vehicle again. and for the record ANYTHING American made is garbage....

Nice truck
I bought this truck because of the design and size, not too big, not too small. Has been a reliable truck, a few repairs here and there, but no major repairs other than a clockspring replacement in the steering wheel.
