No a Sports Car
Since I have the Charger, people ask me "And it's fast, isn't it?" Well, it's not slow, but its 4100+ pounds take some time to get moving. 0-60 in 5 seconds according to various reviews. A sporty car, not a sports car. My 349HP MB SLK32 is a sports car. Lousy gas mileage (as expected). Nice interior. Stereo (mine has the high-end one) a bit disappointing due to some lack in bass. Seats not fully leather, but then again this is a under $40k car. Some people think the windows are too small, I don't. No idea what the stability control is there for, mine never seems to kick in. Comfortable ride. Too long to fit in my garage with the motorcycle (I traded this for a KIA Sorento which did fit).
Not just for men
I thought I would never get rid of my minivan that I loved since I have 2 boys both over 6'3 and play sports but could not turn away from the Charger. Boy were they glad! Nothing has made everyone from Dad to the youngest son happier than to have a cool car to have mom drive you around in, and nothing has made me happier than to have a car I can count on. Somehow when I drive it I can get 20-21 mpg but when Dad decides to drive it goes to 14 mpg. No problem, we both enjoy it, just for different reasons. I have added 22" wheels and a pinstripe to accent the rear wheel well. Just a little to make it different. We can all take a ride it this bad boy together and no one minds at all.

2006 Dodge SRT8
This is one of the finest cars I have ever purchased. It has a great ride and great feel to the road. The fuel consumption is actually pretty good considering the horsepower this car develops. I've taken it on one trip and got an average of 21.7 mpg. Please note that 98% was freeway driving at 68 to 72 mph. This car is a great value for its price.
2006 Dodge Charger RT Hemi
Will put any car on the road today to shame. Excellent handling, more power than you can imagine, runs circles around the 'stang... Very well crafted and fun to drive. Handles the road better than any car I've owned or seen in along time. This is the one car you'll brag about for years to come...
Charger SRT 8
I have owned the car for just three weeks and so far it is fantastic. The ride is good for a performance car and the performance is excellent. I had a 69 Hemi Charger and this car is far superior in most respects. I have an on board performance computer and the car has run 0-60 in 4.8 sec and the 1/4 mile in 12.9 sec. It is a great value for the price.
Power, Stye and refinement
Driving the SRT8 Charger is an experience in fun. The handling, power and comfort take you to places most four door sedans cannot unless the price tag exceeds 100K. It is a fun car at a fun price.
Unreal
I have owned many great cars but the SRT8 has them all outclassed. This car is in a class by itself. The SRT people really out did themselves on this one.
Charger SRT 8
Just got the car and drove it about 500 miles in 3 days. I traded a Corvette for this car and am VERY happy I did. This car has more power, better transmission (5 speed auto), and a very easy to use navigation system. This is the best car I have ever purchased.
Phenomenal Value
I rented the V6 and immediately noticed the comfortable ride, spacious interior, and well designed exterior. The SRT8 adds power that will push you back in your seat, extremely sporty and comfortable seats, and many options that you wouldn't expect from a sports car. I wanted a sports car but needed a family car. This gave me the look, feel, sound, and performance of a sports car with the room and convinience of a family car.
Performance with style
I have had this car for a week now and each day I'm more impressed. The exhaust is just noticable at idle and just loud enough when you step on it to make you smile. This car performs as a modern day muscle car should...Fast and smooth. I was looking at the RT and Daytona and am thrilled I waited for the SRT-8. The BEST performance value on the market!
Rock on Charger
I purchased a Charger SRT8 and paid a mark up because I wanted it and I wanted it now!!! It has amazing power. I particularly liked the SRT8 because of the amount of interior space. It is nice to have a car with great looks, speed and comfort for 4-5 adults. Lot of people are speechless when they see the car and even more when they look under the hood at the 6.1 liter bundle of joy. I got all the SRT packages and they are worth it. The navigation system is easy to use as are all of the onbourd computer systems. All in all, worth every penny. So happy I have mine.
Dodge Charger SRT8
This is the funnest car I have ever driven. The interior and exterior design of this vehicle is excellent. I am very happy with our decision to purchase a Charger SRT8! I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone! Keep up the great work!
Is this really a Dodge???
I really like the car as a whole, especially the performance. It draws attention everywhere it goes. It is very fast and handles well for such a large car (German influence). The performance is equal to the looks.
Awsome Machine by Dodge
I wanted one of these cars and finally found the right one. It is a thrill to drive and very popular with the family. Dodge has done it ! I've had Challengers, Cudas and others and this awsome ride surpasses them all. All I can say is " Hemi baby " and I have always loved the 383 engine.
Best car yet for me
I have had many new vehicles in the past including 1987 Buick Grand National, 1995 Impala SS, 1996 Mercedes Benz E300D, 1998 Mercedes C280 Sport, 2005 Subaru WRX STi. The SRT8 Charger I can honestly say delivers the best driving experience to date. The highway ride is outstanding, the brakes are beyond reproach and Dodge has the balls to not govern the top speed on this rocketship. (Unlike almost every other manufacturer). The fit/finish is very good and although it is a fairly heavy car the 425HP SRT8 engine makes every trip enjoyable. I highly recommend this vehicle.
Better than I expected
This is a fun car to drive. The SRT-8 is pure pleasure. My cousin (next door to me) bought the Mustang Saleen and it's nice (same price) but the interior is nowhere near as nice as the Charger's. Everything on the Charger seems well thought out. You can even dim the nav system screen! The interior is better than I've seen on any priced car. It looks good and feels good. Plenty of room in the back seats and it feels safe when driving. You can't help notice the large lump in the hood while behind the wheel and then smile knowing how the drive will be. The power is there when you need it. This is the best car I have ever owned and I've been driving performance cars for 20 years.
SRT
This is the most amazing vehicle I have ever driven/owned. It does as little or as much as you would ever want to do. It does however have some blind spots. In addition to this, I have noticed a whine, sounding like a turbocharger, possibly coming from the transmission, as I pull in to my garage. Hopefully nothing serious. If it isn't, I will be very extremely pleased with the vehicle.
Lucky SRT8 Owner
I purchased this car over the phone sight unseen and am absolutely thrilled with its looks, performance, handling, and comfort. It is a limited production car that will not be a daily driver or driven in wet weather. I am keeping the car in brand new condition so that it can be enjoyed for years to come. Hopefully it will be a collectable just like the original Hemi! At only 1050 miles the only issues I have are way excessive amounts of brake dust, and a transmission that has a pump and/or torque converter whine.
Great for the money
I owned a 2003 G35 coupe which I loved, but traded for the SRT-8. Unbelievable car with a great deal of Mercedes influence in the suspension and trans. Extremely fast, quick and with uncanny braking power for such a large car. The main surprise was how comfortable it is on the road and how quickly you may pass with a slight touch of the pedal. The mileage is not great---around 17 all around and 20 on the highway, but then again that is to be expected. LOVE IT!!!
Cons?
In the cons section of the review Edmunds stated lousy fuel economy. I'm averaging 17: not lousy. Intrusive stability control? ESP (electronic stability progam)can be partially or totaly deactivated. If the program is not deactivated then it will function the way it should. When totaly deactivated (pushing the ESP OFF button and holding for 5 seconds) the car is a pure, driftable beast. The only negative is the car's weight (almost 4800 lbs)
Lovin' the Charger SRT8
I'm just like a little kid when it comes to driving this machine. I have to give Dodge two thumbs up on this one. The performance and handling of the vehicle are just supperb and I'm loving every minute of it. I've been enjoying the performance and handling of German made vehicles for some time now and Dodge has brought me back home.
Simply stellar
This car is unbelievable! With a 6.1L, I assumed gas mileage would be on the low side, but I am so taken aback by the car itself I feel it is a PLEASURE to burn fuel. If I put on Metallica's FUEL behind the wheel I can barely keep it below 65 MPH (which does not even require fourth, or fifth gear). It rides at a smooth 2200 RPM's at 75 MPH!!! I am flabbergasted it is a DODGE...
Black Charger SRT8
The Charger SRT8 is the most incredible car I have ever driven. The acceleration is awesome. The car attracts a lot of stares and questions. Be prepared for the question: "That got a HEMI in it?" Just be careful about staying near the speed limit - it also attracts the police.
WOW
I have never had a car with an automatic kick you back in the seat like this thing does. The first time I punched it, it shocked me. All I can say is WOW. And, in 2nd gear at 4,000 RPM is sounds incredible... you have to turn off the radio just so you can hear the car. Awesome. Speaking of the radio, it's great too. No need for aftermarket stuff here. The only real surprise was that there is no spare tire, and no run-flats. Instead, you get a little bottle of fix-a-flat and a pump that plugs into the power outlet. I'm gunna buy an extra tire just in case I ever get a flat. I doubt you can just go in anyplace and find one in stock. But, this car is simply incredible!
Smile Induction
I LOVE this car! Everyday when I drive to and from work, this car makes me SMILE...I get tons of looks (and several .."that thing gotta Hemi?"). It is comfortable inside and menacing outside. I love the engine and the brakes (hate the brake dust - tho). I had my brother-in-law, who has done paint and body work for 25 years, check the car out before I purchased it...and he said it was the best fit and finish he has seen on a domestic auto...period! Kudos to Dodge for cranking up the Charger's Smiles per hour!
Baby Boomer reclaims Muscle Car Memories
The Charger SRT is more than I expected, especially since I never bought a Chrysler product for myself, ever! Have enjoyed Mustangs (302,Cobra Jet), Corvettes (ZR1) over the years, but this car has just about everything. Performance, looks, conveniences and amenities are excellent. Seems to turn heads at will. This one is black and beautiful. Also my wife's favorite color combinations. This is a keeper!
Great Car
This is a GREAT car! Great power, handling, braking, comfort, style and quality. I love the sound system and the quiet that the car has to let you enjoy the music. Any car whose doors close with a bank vault solidity is a great car to me.
Awesome!
I love my Charger SRT-8. It has the attention-grabbing styling and performance I love in a car. The power from the 6.1l Hemi is amazing. It's a roomy sedan with a smooth ride yet it can turn into a mean street machine in an instant. The best car I have ever owned so far!
X corvette fan
I have owned sports cars all my life and this one is the most fun yet. It's not as refined as a Corvette but it is more fun to drive especially since I can take my whole family along for the ride. This thing actually draws more attention than either the new or the classic Corvettes that I have owned. It obviously doesn't corner as well as a Vette but it sure accelerates like one and I think that Chrysler is being a little conservative with the 13.5 sec et on 1/4 mile times. The engine is obviously capable of more if you can just get the tires to stick to the ground.
The Beast
I am a 50 year old mom and have a need for speed. I traded in my Mustang I owned for 5 years for this big beast. My husband had asked me to trade in my car for something more comfortable and has more room for the family, so I looked and looked, fighting the fact I needed something fast and muscle packed. Finally found this beast, and it was love at first sight. The power is so over whelming and so tuff to the human eye, but a soft comfortabe touch in side. The color is pearl black which turns heads everywhere I go. This is a keeper!
Family rocket
It's hard to believe that only a few short years ago Chrysler did not even offer a V8 in a car, much less a rear drive one. They've more than made up for it. With a wife and two kids, this is a perfect choice for a family man's muscle car. Not only is it the cheapest of the SRT8's, it is also the coolest looking, with it's hood scoop and rear spoiler. The Magnum and 300C SRT8's look too much like the regular Hemi's to me.
Charger SRT8 Modern Muscle Car
When I sold my 73 Challenger in June of 2005, I thought that was the last time I would ever feel the power of a stroked big block V8, I was wrong. This SRT8 is equal in quickness and greatly exceeds the top end speed of the 73 500" Challenger. Plus it's practical. Having a wife and two children under 4 makes this an ideal family car. To be honest, my wife drives it more than I do. She loves the power. Driving on two lane highways can be a pain if you don't have the torque to get your vehicle through the passing window of time. SRT will not let you down!
Best new car I have ever owned
She has all the sophistication of a classic road car with all the creature comforts a man needs. Her performance will be a ten when I add the supercharger system and all the mods to push this beast past any conventional two door sports car. Dodge hit this one right on the money with the nascar body styling and four doors for the family man. A perfect car for the midlife crisis. I love the fact everybody on the highway gets out of my way when they seen me coming from their rearview mirros. I cannot stop smiling for two hours after I go on one of my "country cruises." I have had as many thumbs up with this car as I have with my classic collection.
Something Wicked This Way Comes
The beauty of modern engineering is that car manufacturers can now produce a vehicle such as the SRT8. A car that blends exceptional civility with very uncivilised performance. I just purchased this car a week ago. Brought it home without drama in 10 below weather, with the roads covered in ice. The tires on this monster are Goodyear F1's! Started it without a hitch in the same weather the next morning. Again, no drama. And no engine block heater either. That is not even on the option sheet for the SRT8. Not even here in Canada. Warmed the car up and drove to work. Found a patch of dry road on the way. No traffic. Dropped the hammer. Big drama! Thanks DC!
Awesome
I've only had my car for 5 days but it is just an incredible feeling to get behind the wheel of this car. So comfortable, solidly built, you feel safe, secure and at the same time stylish. I love everything about it!
Yup, It's another Mopar alright
Mopar is back with the return of the Charger. I think that they should have saved the return of the HEMI for the return of the Charger to make a huge come back, but hey, thats just me. This car is no slouch on the gas pedal, and less than half way up the rpm range, you realize what a Hemi is all about. This is an excellent reincarnation of the classic Mopar performance car.
