Used 2016 Chrysler Town and Country Consumer Reviews
Lemon
Chrysler denies that there is a mechanical defect with my 2015 Town and Country van. On two separate occasions the van accelerated on it's own, the first time crashing into the brick wall of the bank, the second time, approximately a year later, it rammed into a concrete porch. I reported both incidents to the NHTSD. There are multiple stories of similar incidents with this make and model. The transmission frequently does not shift smoothly at all. I literally hate this van!! Chrysler Corp. should be honest and admit when there is a defect with their product!! *Update......April 2021: I still hate this van. Probably over a year ago a piece of trim right next to the driver's side window started flapping while I was driving...a tiny piece plastic had broken off and the only way to fix it would be to take it to a body shop. Just the other day the same piece on the other side of the van broke off!! I do not plan to ever own a Chrysler van again! I hope to get rid of it soon!

Trans pump is bad
After 83,k miles my 2015 Chrysler's Town and Country's check engine light came on and it's a faulty transmission pump. The cost to repair is $5k and my mechanic said there was a trans pump recall on the make and model and same year. However, Chrysler said my particular car was not listed in the recall due to where it was manufactured and so they refuse to fix it or help with the cost. Now I'm fighting this and filed a complaint with the NHTSA. .

Worst car my family has ever owned.
My mother bought this car when the old SUV wasn't working out for everyone and she wanted more space. Overall, it's a horrific car and completely unreliable. At 41K, the engine blew a head gasket and cylinder #6 spark plug coil which caused a lack of compression. At only 62K, the engine and transmission both failed. It blew the other head gasket and snapped the camshaft. I've only ever seen a camshaft failure in motorsports with engines producing in excess of 1000 horsepower. The transmission's pump went out which caused a severe lack of lubrication and destroyed the transmission. It was serviced properly as recommended by the factory. This car was not abused and didn't see any speeds past 80MPH.

Our 3rd Stow and Go Van
We have had 3 of the Chrysler/Dodge minivans since the Stow and Go introduction in 2005. We sold the 1st on a dumb whim at 2 years old. The 2nd is now being used by our kids in Florida. Paid out for a bunch of repairs for engine leaks before they got it. We intend to keep the 3rd for a long time, so we purchased the factory lifetime Max Care warranty. We considered buying a 2017 Pacifica, but the price was higher. Really can't complain about our decision. The T&C has been exactly what we expected. Nothing compares to the convenience and convertibility of Stow and Go seating. Eight person seating would be nice upon occasion, especially with a load of grandkids. Add a towing package and you have decent cargo capability. Update Nov., 2022 Currently at 58,000 miles. No repairs since purchase. I updated the navigation maps once, which is not a job for the faint-hearted. Map updates were missing newer and revised roads from year prior. Most recent experience with navigation system is that it occasionally locks up on start up screen. With enough time, it starts up again without my action. Also, we have experienced what seems to be an occasionally noisy pulley. Always quiet when I get to the shop. Also, the shop noticed a slight "seepage" from the transmission. Was said to be normal, but to watch for drips on the floor. Haven't seen any drips yet. Still very satisfied with our choice of the van for cargo carrying capacity. Our other vehicles are Toyota, which seem to have better resale, but we don't intend to sell anything.
