JNorflet's 1999 Sebring Lxi

This car is lots of fun to drive. The manufacturers sound system, seats and interior is excellent. However, when compared to my previous car, which contained a 3800 v6, the performance is lacking. The reliability has been fantastic. I commute 100 miles to work each day (all highway miles) and the ride is as smooth as silk. The car has 17" whhels and handles like a dream on turns, and in curves. The suspension provides a nice combination of ride and handling. I receive compliments on the car wherever I go. Many don't realize it's a Chrysler (or American car)

Too Many Electrical Problems

143K on my sebring Top and windows no longer go down. Gauges go in and out. Sometimes I will start the car and none of the electrical will go on-lights, radio, heat, headlights. ( Which is usually fixed by turning the car off and turning it back on) The only benefits of the Sebring are that they are cheap larger convertibles that are good for local driving or high school and college students. Not many problem with the engine and they get decent gas mileage about 20 MPG. Power steering makes noises even though fluid is not needed. If you are buying one I suggest getting the lowest mileage as possible because they really start going down hill around 120K.

First Car, very Bad Expierence. Fuel Pump went bad at about 1,200 miles. Brakes have been a nagging problem from 7,500 to present. Engine sensor went bad at 8,500 Miles. Fuel Sensor went bad at 21,500 which shut the engine down when the brakes were apllied. Now have an ugly black tar leaking out from under the doors due to the heat. Should have spent 2,000 extra and went with toyota or nissian. I learned from this mistake but at a cost.

Oil is changed every 3000 miles, transmission oil changed as required, tires rotated and all papers saved in a folder (in the glove compartment) and all inf. entered in the book that came with the car. Each time I get new wipers etc. all inf. saved. Thank you for the report I will be receiving. Sincerely Carol

Turning radius is very wide. it takes at least three+ lanes to make a u turn. I have had to replace brakes once a year and the car goes through tires even faster. This car has been nothing but a pain.

Defective Rims

I have had many flat tires since purchasing this car three years ago, mostly due to bent rims. Sebrings manufactured between 1997-2001 had defective rims, and a 33 million dollar settlement was won against Chrysler. Unfortunately the 3 year warranty is long expired and I have been forced to pay out of pocket. Also, one of the side door panels fell off for no reason, and black goo melted out of the door on really hot days.

Excellent Vehicle - Expensive to Repair

This is the best car I have EVER owned, and I've owned a few in my short time. Performs relatively well, although the 2.5L V6 is anemic at around 160 HP. Handling is great, performs well is most situations, but does tend to exhibit slight understeer qualities, but the length of the wheelbase helps to keep it contained. Now I have over 165,000 miles on it... and these were not your putt putt grandma miles either... I beat the crap out of my cars. Don't feel bad though because I do take care of them, obviously. 150000 before I needed to replace the infamous A604 atransmission. Even now with 165000 it runs just as strong as when I bought it. "Dime" repairs now... time to sell. I'll miss it

love the car, hate the brakes

Love the car, enjoy driving it, but hate the brakes. Brakes started squeaking very soon after I purchased it (it was new) and have now been replaced twice. Car gets good gas mileage and has otherwise been very reliable. I'll probably keep it for at least another couple of years. Just please, Chrysler, fix the brakes! And make it a little easier to turn (semis make u-turns better).

Terrible Brake cost

Every 25,000 I needed a font brake replacement, including rotors. This is an unacceptable cost. I was not hard on the brakes, I just drive the car to work and home, almost all highway. I called Chrysler after the second time to let them know what was going on and maybe they might want to see if it is something in the manufacturing of the rotors. I was treated very poorly by the customer representative. I will never own a Chrysler again after I sell this car!!

Sebrina

"Sebrina" is a sweet-looking sporty car. Still gets wolf whistles from gear head guys and teen girls adore her. Her V6 doesn't have power in acceleration. Her nose scrapes high curbs and parking bumps catch on it. Change the tranny fluid frequently to avoid slipping. Few tire choices and high prices make new treads expensive, but the aluminum rims are sooo sharp looking! The rear view mirror fluid overheated and leaked out, making it cloudy. Roomy trunk, good gas mileage, great handling. The only back-to-dealer problem were the side panels which came loose 7 times, replaced twice! No mechanical problems in over 4 years.
