Used 2018 Chevrolet Traverse Consumer Reviews
2018 chevrolet traverse
I'd been wanting to get me a midsize SUV for a long time for everyday commute to work and using it for family road trip. I found it in this 2018 Chevrolet traverse. It's got everything that I was looking for and more. Been driving it for almost a year now and it's been an absolute joy to drive. No issues or problems whatsoever. Cargo space is way more than the rest of the competitors.

Great vehicle with faults
I purchased this vehicle as the Premier Redline edition. Absolutely love the comfort of the seats, the overall cabin as well as 2nd row captain chairs and the leg room in the 3rd row. Great looking vehicle that gets several compliments. The 360 camera is a great feature as well as the additional bells and whistles. However, I have already had to replace the transmission. It started to have issues just before 100K miles. A new transmission is $4000 with tax from the chevy dealers. There will be the upfront (refundable) core charge of $1500. If you have Chevy replace it themselves, they will want about $7600 including labor. I found a reputable local shop that charge $1400 for removal, installation & labor. After getting the core charge refunded, it's about a total of $5400+. I have heard of similar transmission issues with 2019 and 2020 Traverses as well. Since most Chevy dealers are at least 2 weeks behind in their transmission departments, something tells me these numbers are increasing. Like I said, I love the vehicle outside of the transmission issues. This is my first Chevy and will be my last Chevy due to unreliable mechanical issues.

2018 Lemon
From day two purchasing this vehicle new from a Chevy Dealer in Lake City Florida, it has had electrical problems. After going back to the dealer they would not take the vehicle back without a horrendous loss of money Fighting with GM was a waste of time. All they wanted to do was push you around to different people who all they could say was there doesn't seem to be a problem. Day two both front seats stopped working then day 4 the lights stopped working coming back from Ashville to Tampa. Four months the right tail light blew up thought the car had been shot on the freeway but the light fixture just blew up. Ferman Chevy had a great service rep that I had been working with and he took it in the shop for a week and took care of this POS. It now doesn't have 40000 miles on it and the electrical problems are coming back out. When you shut it off and shift to PARK the display keeps telling you to shift to park. Drives nice and roomy and on the interstate at 75-79 gets 23-26 miles to the gallon. It's a 6 cylinder.
2018 and no major problems
I have 75,XXX miles on it and no major problems. I have thought about buying new but can't find anything this wide with the carrying capacity without paying 80,000+. I'm spoiled with the size. It rode better and was much quieter than the Highlanders I drove before it. Only complaint is the shift to park issue many deal with. While it was still in warranty, it began not shifting into park. I took it to the dealer and they "fixed" it. I learned later they merely did a bandaid procedure. They did not replace any parts. Last year around 65,000 miles, it acted up again. Knowing the history, I took it to my dealer. It was going to be $99 just to diagnose it. I called GM and complained that it was a problem from the time it was warranteed. They gave me the runaround saying it still had to be diagnosed before I could file a case to get the cost of repair refunded. Long story short they led me on and on until I had it fixed, then they denied paying for it. I could have tried to replace it myself and done it much cheaper but they led me to believe they were going to cover it. VERY POOR customer service for a known problem and one which started while under warranty. Overall, I am very happy with it and looove all the room in it.
Great family vehicle!
The traverse was my dream car. I decided this after I had one as a loaner. The loaner I had was a 2012 and had third row seats. I fell in love with it. I told my boyfriend that if I were to ever get another vehicle that it would be the Traverse. I periodically was looking online for the right car and moment. I finally found one through auto trader. When we went to look at it, I fell in love with it. It had everything that I wanted! It had the third row seat, back up camera, moonroof, leather seats, heated seats! When I first bought this vehicle, I had a bunch of problems with it. I know I had some recall(s) and other issues but they were all fixed by the dealership. I love that there is a ton of room - at least more than my renegade had! We can put the third row seats down if we need more room. In the trunk area, you can lift up the floor of it and store more stuff below. It has a ton of plug ins for usb cords or regular house plugs. My daughter loves to be able to charge her phone to the regular house plugs in the car. I will run this car until it will not run no more and then I will get me a new traverse!
