Rented 4 pickups bought the Silverado

I was in the market for a new pickup and definitely preferred the Toyota Tundra before driving any of them because I have owned Toyota and Lexus vehicles for the last 20 years. Can't beat the reliability anywhere. Drove the Tundra and liked it but could not average more than 15 mpg, didn't matter that I took a trip to Naples, still 15 mpg. The truck was very nice but that was a problem for me. I rented an F150, not crazy about the looks and the aluminum body, just my opinion, and the Ram, could not get past the rotating knob for a shifter, reminded me of the old push button transmission fad of the old Chrysler and the gas mileage was terrible like the Tundra. Rented a Silverado thinking I have not bought a Chevy in 30 years and to my surprise, I posted 22.9 mpg on the highway, a high of 24.2 and an average of 21.9. I was shocked and amazed at how great it rode and handled. The Apple car play was a bonus and a great addition to the my sync system which sounds surprisingly good. Purchased the crew cab short bed with the all star package and the V8 and so far averaging 22.5 mpg in mixed mostly highway driving. Also, I do not have the Silverado shake I have read about and hope this truck serves me as well as all the Toyota vehicles I bought in the past. Only time will tell but so far, very pleased with the purchase but it has only been the first week

2016 crew cab 4x4. Now has 32k miles on it. This pos has spent more time at the dealership than in my driveway. Tranny shifts terrible. Chevy shake. Airbag issues . clunky tranny, lopy idle. I wanted to buy American made but Chevy is garbage and so are there dealerships. No solution to the issues, just the same old song and dance. Never again Chevy! I tell everyone I talk too, do not waste your hard earned money. TOYOTA POWER from here on out!

It is extremely ashame on Chevys part they have not recalled these vehicles for the transmission issues. I know 3 people including me whose transmissions have completely failed between 70 and 100k miles. My 2016 has 96k miles and the transmission just went out without warning. My friend has a 2015 with 73k miles and his just failed. My dad's boss has a 2016 with 81k miles whose transmission failed. I contacted corporate, and they will not provide a discount or any accountability. I had already had the transmission completely serviced prior to this happening. Now, I am out 6k which is the cost of towing and for a new transmission. Read all the forums and call your local transmission repair shop. They will tell you they have had multiple silverados from 2015 to 2019 into their shop for the same issues. Don't count out the newer silberados either. I had a buddy who has so many issues with their 2022 the dealership bought it back. Chevy should be ashamed of themselves they haven't recalled the vehicles. I completely lost power going down the interstate. No telling what could of happened if I wasn't able to glide onto the shoulder.

Garbage on wheels!

Let me start by saying I owned a 1991 Chevy 1500 that rarely broke in the 13 years I owned it. Other than shocks, gas line, and a Trans seal that cost $500 to replace. Everything else was basic maintenance until it died around 300k. This 2016 Silverado 6 speed trash had a condenser out at 85k ($1000 job. The front bearings were gone before 100k miles and I don’t tow anything. Now here I am told I was lucky to make it to 142,000 miles before my transmission blew. That job is going to cost me $4500 dollars for a rebuild. That’s the price of a used commuter car I could have for 5-10 years. Add in the pathetic AFM disaster fuel management I had to pay $400 to delete so I could save my engine and shut that stupid valve up under my truck. And what is left is a future money pit I can only assume. I will tell anyone out here. If you purchase a used 2016 Silverado or anything with around that year with the horrible torque converter issues, make sure you ask the seller if that has been fixed. And also see if the AFM has been disabled. If not I would not purchase the truck. This all happened to me in about 4.5 years of ownership. I’ll never own another Chevy again. I know other brand trucks that are newer cab have their issues but I’m going to go ahead and give someone else a chance.
