Used 2021 Chevrolet Colorado Consumer Reviews
Best truck I purchased
I have had my Colorado now for almost a year and I have had no issues whatsoever, the gas mileage is great and it drives smooth. It’s also a very comfortable drive and plenty of room inside. It tows perfect and I love the quality of the interior materials (very easy to clean and maintain) It also handles perfectly with no loud noises or vibration. It has a very good acceleration when you need to merge on the freeways and going uphills. I took it out for an off-road test on private property with steep hills and sharp inclines and rocky terrain. I used to take my JK in these same trails and I will tell you personally that this truck handles as good as a Jeep (with the exception of rock climbing) which personally I haven’t tried yet, but it does what I need it to do and gets great gas mileage, comfortable, and stylish. I strongly recommend getting this truck to anyone. No regrets

Good Budget Truck
After two weeks with my Colorado LT 4 door V6 I can say that I really like the truck. PRO: Smooth, very quiet ride, no rattles. You sit up as high allowing for a great view. Great ground clearance, class-leading bed space and economy, strong engine V6. Great infotainment system and great sounding standard speakers / stereo. CON: Minimal knee space / leg room front and back. I've hit my knee on the lighting switch a few times and I really have to watch it when I get in (horrid location for that switch). Seats are a bit on the stiff side but not bad enough to be a problem. The headlights are pathetically weak, some of the worst out there. I purchased a full set of high and low beam LEDs from Alla, installed them myself, and that made a world of difference. Consider this a mandatory $139 upgrade if you like to see at night. Brake pedal started out a bit soft but nearing 750 miles it has begun to feel a bit more solid (the brakes do get the job done). Overall interior materials are cheap, and experience tells me that the type of long plastic air vents used here will break over time being moved around (I'm very gentle with them as a result). The HVAC blower is absurdly loud on the highest setting, but it does move a lot of air turned up that high and noise isn't an issue on lower settings. It may sound like I have a lot of negatives there for four stars, but overall I'm happy with the truck and understand that there's a reason that it costs 8-9 grand less than a similarly set up Silverado. The money here was clearly put into building a strong work-horse that rides as smooth and quietly as a luxury car, all in a shorter / thinner package (it's still quite tall). That came at the expense of cheaper interior components and knee space, but I'm OK with the balance Chevy struck here.

Riding High In Style
Went from a Silverado Crew Cab to a 2021 Colorado Crew Cab and so far it was a great move for several reasons much better gas mileage easier to drive I am 80 years old little easier to get in and out of. You lose some room in the backseat but it’s a little easier in the front area too reach the glove box. So far so good with the trade you can’t beat Chevy that’s for sure. Very pleased.

The Colorado Work Truck Is Elegant Simplicity
In the old days, back when trucks were little more than an engine and seat, we called basic trucks "stripped down" versions. When I teased the salesman that this was stripped down, he self-righteously corrected me that it is a work truck. To GM's credit, and to his, he is right. It is more than just an engine and seat. But still it isn't for everyone. It lacks numerous creature comforts that people have become accustomed to, like power mirrors, power seats, climate control, and it even lacks an Onstar unit. Until now I thought GM put Onstar in everything. But on the brighter side, it has cruise control, air conditioning, and a bluetooth touch screen sound system. It has 2-wheel drive and a 2.5 liter four cylinder engine, which means reduced offroading and payloads. But it's no slouch. It has a six-speed transmission, will still pull 3500 pounds and the four cylinder engine produces 200 hp without a turbo. For those who don't know or don't remember, the antiquated 283 V8 with a single carb produced only 188 hp. Like I said, it's no slouch. And I love the curb appeal. It's a beautiful truck and allows me a lot of dignity. Bottom line, I live alone and share the truck with no one. I don't need electric seats or mirrors because they never move. I don't go offroad and I don't pull trailers. I'm an old retired guy that likes camping and garage sales. It's perfect for me and for others like me.

Problems almost immediately
I found this truck to be among the most attractive mid sized trucks but lacking in many safety features than other mid sized trucks provide as standard equipment. The first Safety feature to fail were the Air Bags. With less than 100 miles the “Restraint System “ failure warning occurred. Notified dealer they said it was likely a “cliche” the light did go out but was told if it comes on contact them immediately. It did and they gave me an appointment a week away. The light went out before the appointment. It’s happened now five times. Now with less than 1100 miles. The vehicle rarely used kept in a conditioned garage the “ Engine warning” light came on. Called the dealer who offered to do a “Code scan” they did and said the O2 Sensor is failing but instead of changing it theyncleared the code and said if it comes on again bring it back. The truck is idling rough and eating gas. This typically is an indication that the O2 sensor has failed. In 10 years with a Frontier it was never in the shop except for oil and filter changes. Not even the brakes wore out. Additionally the On board WiFI stopped working, the doors don’t close without slamming in the rear. The tailgate it supposed to be an easy release and if let go it slams open. The transmission on down shifting has a noticeable thud. All this with only 1100 miles in 7 months of ownership. Never off road and never driven in the rain

Sharp truck and performing well
Had my 2021 Z71 for a month now and have 900 miles on it. Very comfortable ride, good acceleration when I want it, quiet, infotainment works well, ample space in the bed, and getting about 24 mpg. My complaints are already documented - could use a blind spot monitoring system and I'd like a homelink garage door opener buttons. Overall I highly recommend the truck.

2.8 Turbo Diesel... Best 4 cylinder Diesel
I can't say enough about how wonderful this truck has been for me. I bought this about 12 months ago and in that time frame, I've put on 30k miles. I've had no issues with the truck other than regular service. The fuel average is 25 mpg and its powerful enough to haul a large 6x12 Uhaul trailer full cross country with no issues and still average 20 mpg. Crazy awesome truck.

Noisy
I have had my Colorado for a month. It’s been in the shop for almost 2 weeks out of the month. The a/c compressor sounds like a jet plane. The truck has a vibration during highway speeds and really noticeable during deceleration. They tell me it’s normal. I traded a 2013 tacoma with a hundred thousand miles that didn’t have these problems. I love the style of the truck but there has to be some design flaws somewhere. I’m a certified diesel mechanic and this stuff just isn’t right. Now they want me to test drive another one to show me it’s normal. I drove 2 last week and neither made these noises. But because they were not the exact same model that doesn’t count. Well I went and drove another LT model that was just delivered. Not only did this truck have the vibration but it also had a wining noise that sounded like a siren coming from either the transmission or rear end. Was told by the lead technician at RK in Virginia Beach va that this truck sounds like the carrier bearing was bad. Colorado’s do not have carrier bearings. But these are the same people that tell me the vibrations in my truck are normal operating procedures of this vehicle. What a real joke. I have since hired a lawyer. Do yourself a favor, do not buy the Colorado. I regret I ever did.

Nice truck but……
My 2021 was great at 3,000 miles then out of no where my steering wheel started pulling forcefully from side to side , also noticed my ignition key would get very warm. Lots of electrical recalls for 2915 , just wondering if anyone else has had same experience with 2921. This has happened twice so far, very unnerving!!
Grinder brakes
I have had my 2021 Colorado for 7 weeks less then 900 miles. I have had it in for service twice for the same issues. Brakes grind for the first 10 minutes of driving. Took it in they cleaned the brakes, two days later same thing. Took it in again they changed the pads. 3 days later same thing, called and they told me it had a service bulletin for this issue and GM is working on it. Well 3 days later and now it grinds all the time. Other issue: Hands free phone system worked about 10% of the time. they flashed the program, seemed top work better, nope took it in again, same thing flashed the program, this time it when it started acting up again, I installed Google assistant, now working pretty well. Little slow to respond, but working for phone, not texts. Struggling to get it right, they told me too live with it until GM has a fix... Ha.

Smooth ride, but lots of issues
Hello Everyone, I purchased a new 2021 Colorado last year and had nothing but problems. Before the truck hit 24,000 miles, two fuel injectors, the fuel pump, and the ac compressor failed and needed replacing. At highway speeds over 73 MPH, the truck vibrates and shakes everything in the cab (similar to running over a rumble strip). The infotainment system also had a bad habit of shutting off and becoming unusable for days at a time. I truly believe my specific vehicle was a lemon in the truest sense, but the sheer number of unrelated failures all over the vehicle didn’t paint the best picture for GM quality control. Single system failures happen, I think we have all dealt with this at some point regarding our personal daily-drivers, but having this number of systems fail independently of one another is a huge problem. How can any Chevy owner feel secure when the potential for the defect lottery to strike down any random system is a constant worry? I have since offloaded the vehicle and purchased from another company, but the damage has been done. The two stars represent the only two redeeming qualities of the truck while I had it: no. 1, the price ($23500 is a steal for a pickup truck nowadays) and no. 2, the ride quality (minus the high speed rumble, this truly was a smooth riding machine). Despite its few positives, I would not recommend buying either the Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon.

Just a pretty face
This is certainly a very attractive truck but it sort of stops there. Fit and finish is poor. Interior is a profile in cheapness. Noises heater and AC fan. Air bag light comes on rendering the bags useless. There is no center headrest in back seat or viable and accessible hookup for child’s restraint seat. Overall little to know safety features. Carpet pulled apart. Doors hard to close. Power window on driver side binds. This truck build does not reflect well for an American builder.

Love my little truck
I traded in a Volkswagen Tiguan, Which was the 2013 for this truck. I was slightly concerned about fuel consumption and wasn't sure how efficient it was going to be. In all honesty it has amazing fuel efficiency, on average I guess I get 10.5 l per 100 km, Which I find very Amazing considering my tiguan required premium fuel and my average fuel consumption was 9.5 l per 100 km. I purchased the worktruck model, Which for me is perfect because nobody drives the truck but me and it has 4 by 4 , and tow package which was all that I needed really. I thought it was really great that it came with a tonneau cover included in the purchase which really helps my fuel efficiency. I'm very happy with this truck and it was a great decision to trade the tiguan in for it because this vehicle suits our lifestyle much better. I have just over 20000 km on it and and no issues whatsoever except for except for the gas door begin begin to be a bit crooked So I took it to the dealership and they replaced it with no issue because that's covered under manufacturers weren't he.

Sassy Colorado bison review
I have had my 2021 Colorado bison for almost 1 month. I love but I think my husband likes it more. It looks rugged. Handles great. The front end is gorgeous. The interior is standard. Haven’t tried out the abilities for rock climbing.

Traded it in. No confidence in GM
They say they cannot replicate the transmission shifting issue, so it remains unrepaired. The other issues are mostly design flaws or cost cutting issues/27k should have not gotten us such a poor quality truck). (Previous observations) No drivers side grab handle to get in. Seat belt clips are too low on the sides of the seats. Paint chips fairly easily. Why no locking fuel door? Cruise control light under RPM needle. Interior seats and plastics cheap, some annoying rattles. Gas mileage for the 4 cylinder is still disappointingly low and transmission downshift is odd sometimes a clunk forward or weird quiver from rear end. The first review dealt with the initial defects (crooked steering wheel bar, wet new carpet, emergency brake pedal location problem, cheap interior seat fabric, anemic air conditioner, etc). We also noticed the underside was very exposed from the wheel wells (a lack of full sized wheel well liners) and underside it is very exposed too (a lack of protective skid plates) - both of these are standard on most vehicles. The carpet on the floor (not just the seat fabric) is terribly cheap - we are getting these little hairballs of carpet on the floor, all the time - the carpet will be gone totally in a few years of ownership. The A/C is the weakest we have ever seen in a new vehicle. Sometimes while slowly slowing down the transmission (from the rear end) "clunks" into a lower gear, and we can feel it in our seats - or a weird little quiver at times. There are no recovery hooks on the front (standard in many vehicles) if you ever have to tow it. The gas mileage is the worst for a 4 cylinder vehicle we have ever seen. We added step bars to get in or out of it. The paint chips easily so you need a deflector on the hood. The cruise control works fine. Interior storage space is a premium - our small hatchback has more interior storage. Power driver seat is nice. Manual mirrors are killing us and power ones should be standard for a truck (you can't reach the passenger side to adjust it with your hands while driving - a safety concern).

Great truck and great value
The 2021 Chevy Colorado 4x4 WT was surprisingly fitted with comfortable extras that make this great for both work and pleasure. The truck handles wonderfully and it very easy to drive. It has everything we were looking for and we are using it for both personal daily use and for hauling around our property. We got the larger 3.6L engine. It is very affordable compared to other trucks in this category. Highly recommend this truck.

Colorado
Great power, tows well. This truck has the V6. Interstate gas mileage is about 27mpg. Combined gas mileage around 22-23. I love the truck as far as performance. My only complaint is the materials used in the cab is lacking. The door locks actually rattle and that appears to be normal... I did get the work truck version so I don't expect anything luxurious. I hope to upgrade to a Z71 or ZR2 soon so I'll be interested to see the quality of parts on those. In short, I sold a new Tacoma and like this truck's performance way more than the Tacoma....

Overall Beautiful Truck, Reliable, brakes-needwork
This is a nice truck. Overall I've been using it for all kinds of transportation and cargo needs. The only problem I've had is with the braking system. I think chevy should recall and replace their braking system. It works fine, but they needed to replace the caliper or pump which was not function. I hear the brakes squeak and their is a kind of loud noise when I brake hard. They fixed caliper and state that squeaking comes from rain or morning dew. It goes away after running for a while but still facing small problems. The brakes work but I'll brink it back to check or fix. Overall beautiful truck besides that.

Transmission Flair Slips between 1-2 and 2-3 shift
Update: Transmission has a pressure problem when cold. Slips and engine revs between 1-2 and 2-3 shift when cold. GM knows about this problem and isn't doing anything about it. This is way more truck than I ever thought it would be. Quality built, Comfort, Ride, Very Powerful V6 Engine with over 300 HP! All the options it has, and I haven't found anything I don't like about this truck. When the time comes, I would buy another one without having to think about it. Go test drive one and you will see what I mean!

Truck is boring and overpriced
Traded it in.... missed using our local Chevy dealer (Matt Bowers) but didn't miss this truck at all....it was primitive, underpowered, under-built, and overpriced for what it was.... now we are stuck with tons of accessories we purchased for it.... little interest from potential buyers.....

ZR2
very nice and has all the bells and whistles ,leather interior, nice sound system,8 speed auto transmission matches great with the v-6 engine !! Love my truck !!
Voice commands really don't work.
If I disconnect my bluetooth phone, then I hit the voice command button, it says I have to connect a phone. There's no choice. Once phone is connected, voice commands go directly to google assistant. If assistant doesn't know what to do then all commands are ignored. For the most part it would try to load up Youtube Music app which would use my phone's data if it was enabled. It's not, so voice commands don't work at all with this truck. This is with the LT model truck. While the truck itself is great, and I needed truck functionality, I find that they have skimped. My previous car is a 2013 Volt, and it would search USB, not my phone, and it was perfect. I can't believe I payed 36k for crap not working like this.

Fully Loaded ZR2 look Incredible 3.5 stars
Fully Loaded ZR2 look incredible with a 0ne of a kind look. I feel as though I would be the only person on the road in my city with this for years to come. Negatives... Speakers are low. Leg room is shallow. Lastly E-brake or whatever the pedal is above your left foot seem like it will get alot by accident.

electro magnetic pulse may disable truck
had an EMP at house from external event. had to reset all clocks. Honda pilot was unaffected Colorado had headlights on and off, taillights on and off, all dash lights flashing wildly, set three spurious codes, ran down battery until dead. GM service jumped car. GM service cleared codes, now it runs great. The truck needs to be hardened for EMP. Install a EMP protection device next to electronic control module. Provide a Faraday blanket to cover engine and dash.

absolutely love it
In ordering the truck, I wanted to tow things so I ordered the tow package which came with buttons in the cab, all the wiring needed, as well as a larger 6 cylinder engine. The backup camera is a must for hitching up your trailer by yourself. Parking on the street is very easy with the backup camera. The extended cab is just right, smaller people can sit in the back and those in the front seat still have enough legroom. It also gives you a lot of room to stow gear. It comes with a power front seat that is very comfortable. The variety of adjustments allow any size person to be comfortable. I absolutely love it!

Nice 2021MY Truck with outdated features
I bought my 2021 Colorado V6 4x4 with 20K miles from its original owner in Jan 2023. It is in perfect shape. LIKES: Engine/transmission match. The 8 speed transmission works very well with the engine. Interior space/driving position, heated seats/steering wheel, quiet ride on highway driving, decent mpg. DISLIKES: At $37K MSRP, it still has reflector headlights. The safety features like Lane Keep and front collision is just a buzzer. There is no active resteering if it is departing from the lane. No keyless start. It has a rear defroster but the side view mirrors are not heated. There is no blind side detector. It is a small mirror inside the side view mirror that is your blind side detector. Yes this generation Colorado came out in 2015 and ran thru 2022 model year. Another disappointment is its FM radio reception. Within 30 miles of my work commute, the reception is terrible/gone. None of my cars, trucks, SUVs have ever had this issue! I feel the improvements and upgrades were slow or non existent over the 7 years of production. Prices kept going up while most things stayed the same. The gages and IP have the very old GM look. There was no midcycle enhancement for Colorado that you can tell by looking at this 2021 model!

UPDATE
I am shocked that I have 29,000 miles on my car and they would not take care of an UPDATE on the software for my car radio. I never heard of an UPDATE before
